Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce has significantly altered university students' consumption patterns, often facilitating a consumptive lifestyle. This study aims to examine the causal effect of e-commerce usage intensity on the consumptive lifestyle of PSIK 24 students at Universitas Negeri Medan, analyzed through the perspective of Islamic Education. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey method, data were collected via structured questionnaires from a saturated sample of 30 students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression to test the causal relationship. The findings reveal a significant positive effect of e-commerce usage intensity on consumptive lifestyle (p<0.05), accounting for 41% of the variance in students' consumptive behavior. Descriptively, students exhibited high e-commerce engagement and notable consumptive tendencies driven by digital promotions. From an Islamic Education perspective, such behavior reflects israf (excessiveness), which contradicts the principles of wasathiyah (moderation) and qana’ah (contentment). Consequently, students must internalize Islamic values and strengthen self-control to manage their consumption behavior in the digital era responsibly

Abstract

This study examines the role of tahfiz teachers in enhancing students' Quranic memorization at Ma'had Tahfiz Imam Ahmad Abi Abdillah, driven by the intensive target of memorizing 30 juz within two years. Utilizing a qualitative field research design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and direct observations. The primary subject was the tahfiz teacher (ustadzah), focusing on her instructional strategies, assistance, and monitoring mechanisms. Data were analyzed using reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the teacher fulfills four critical roles: guide, motivator, role model, and evaluator. The ustadzah effectively facilitates new memorization (sabak), reinforces recent memorization (murojaah), sustains motivation during cognitive fatigue, exemplifies disciplined Islamic character, and conducts rigorous daily and periodic assessments. Synchronously, these roles foster an integrated, holistic, and effective learning environment. This study concludes that students' success in accelerated Quranic memorization relies heavily on comprehensive pedagogical guidance that synthesizes academic instruction, psychological motivation, exemplary behavior, and continuous evaluation.

Abstract

The contemporary digital era has given birth to the phenomenon of the "strawberry generation," a young generation that is intellectually intelligent but mentally and spiritually fragile, characterized by high levels of anxiety and depression. In the midst of this crisis of mental weakness, Banjar's local wisdom offers an antithesis through the philosophy of 'Haram Manyarah, Waja sampai Kaputing' (never give up, as hard as steel to the end). This article aims to reformulate the philosophy into a Qur'an-based model of mental resilience that can be applied to strengthen the character of the 'strawberry generation'. Using the qualitative-hermeneutical approach of Wilhelm Dilthey (Erlebnis, Ausdruck, Verstehen) and tafsīr mawḍū'ī (thematic interpretation), this study bridges the analysis between cultural texts and revelatory texts. The results of the study show a deep semantic and philosophical harmony between the values of Haram Manyarah and the Qur'anic concepts of ṣabr (active patience) and istiqāmah (consistent steadfastness). This philosophy is positioned as an "interpretation of Nusantara," a manifestation of the life behavior of Qur'anic values in the socio-historical context of the Banjar society. As a contribution, this research offers an integrative character education model that synthesizes local wisdom, Qur'anic pedagogy, and modern psychology as culture-based solutions to overcome mental health crises and strengthen the character of the nation's next generation.

Abstract

This study addresses the pedagogical challenges in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), where abstract religious concepts are frequently taught using monotonous verbal methods or overly complex digital multimedia, leading to student cognitive overload. The research aims to synthesize the characteristics, classification, and effectiveness of purely visual instructional materials in PAI and formulate a conceptual design model based on cognitive load management. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) compliant with PRISMA 2020 guidelines, data were collected from multiple academic databases and evaluated using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that purely visual instructional materials serve as transformative pedagogical instruments, translating abstract dogmas into concrete representations and effectively minimizing extraneous cognitive load. Furthermore, these materials are taxonomically classified into four primary typologies requiring ontological alignment with specific PAI subjects: graphic media, projection media, printed visuals, and realia. Finally, the study proposes a conceptual model demonstrating that integrating high-quality graphic design with accurate religious content stimulates intrinsic motivation to learn and optimizes working memory capacity. This mechanism successfully accelerates the comprehension of complex abstract concepts while facilitating the internalization of values for students' religious character formation. Ultimately, optimizing purely visual instructional materials offers a highly focused, minimally distracting approach to enhancing PAI learning outcomes.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has improved instructional effectiveness but also raised concerns about the declining humanistic dimension of teaching. This study aims to analyze teacher competencies in light of the values of the Qur'an, Surah Ali Imran, Verse 159, and to formulate a humanistic-participatory pedagogical framework for the AI era. Using a qualitative conceptual approach, the study examines contemporary Qur’anic interpretations and relevant literature on teacher competence, humanistic pedagogy, and Islamic education. The findings show that the values of compassion, consultation, forgiveness, and reliance on God are embedded in QS. Ali Imran Verse 159 provides an integrative foundation for teacher competencies that extend beyond technical and instructional aspects. The analysis further indicates that contemporary educational discourse largely emphasizes pedagogical effectiveness and technological adaptation, while ethical and spiritual dimensions receive limited attention. Based on the synthesis of Qur’anic interpretation and educational literature, this study proposes a humanistic-participatory pedagogical framework that positions teachers as facilitators, moral role models, and dialogic partners in learning. The study contributes theoretically by enriching the value-based paradigm of teacher competence from an Islamic perspective and practically by offering a conceptual reference for developing inclusive, dialogic, and character-oriented learning in the AI era. These findings underscore the importance of integrating Qur’anic values into contemporary educational transformation to foster a more holistic and sustainable learning paradigm.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe the spiritual construction of students with disabilities at the Tambak Bening Islamic Boarding School in Surabaya. Using a qualitative, phenomenological approach, this study explores the subjective religious experiences of students with special needs in the Islamic boarding school environment. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of students with disabilities, teachers, and caregivers. Data analysis followed Moustakas' model, which encompasses epoche,  horizontalization, grouping of meanings, and the discovery of the essence of the phenomenon. The results indicate that the spirituality of students with disabilities is shaped by a dynamic interaction among personal circumstances (motivation and resilience), the inclusive socio-religious environment of the Islamic boarding school, and the ongoing process of spiritual development (tarbiyah ruhiyah). Religious experiences, such as inner peace through dhikr (remembrance of God) and a sense of acceptance within the community, shape God-consciousness, spiritual resilience, and self-acceptance. This study concludes that Islamic boarding schools play a strategic role as inclusive Islamic educational spaces that transform physical limitations into profound spiritual strength.

Abstract

This study evaluates the Madrasah Teacher Quality Improvement Program through Industry 4.0-based professionalism training at MI Babul Ilmi Lemo Ape, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, using the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model. Data were collected through interviews and observations. The findings indicate that the training was implemented based on teachers’ needs and aligned with the demands of Industry 4.0. Training resources, including materials, instructors, and budget, were adequately prepared, and implementation generally proceeded well, though more practical sessions and follow-up mentoring were needed. The program improved teachers’ ability to utilize digital learning applications such as Kahoot, Quizizz, Canva, and TikTok. However, challenges, including limited student access to mobile devices and unstable internet connectivity, hindered optimal implementation. Teachers addressed these constraints by using PowerPoint and Canva, while further policy support and improved internet infrastructure are needed to enhance program effectiveness.

Abstract

This article analyzes the major schools of educational philosophy idealism, realism, materialism, pragmatism, and existentialism within the framework of Islamic education and the contemporary Indonesian educational context. Using a qualitative library research method, this study examines classical and contemporary literature to explore the ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations of each philosophical school. The findings indicate that these schools emerged from specific historical and social contexts and offer distinct yet complementary perspectives on educational aims and practices. The study further reveals that the Islamic educational concepts of tarbiyah, ta’lim, and tazkiyah provide an integrative framework capable of synthesizing diverse philosophical traditions while maintaining the normative orientation of Islamic education. In the Indonesian context, particularly under the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, these philosophical schools remain relevant when applied flexibly and contextually to support character education, competency development, and learner autonomy. This study concludes that an integrative and complementary philosophical approach is essential for developing holistic and responsive educational practices in contemporary Islamic education

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence technology has spurred innovations in education, including the use of an AI Application as a supporting medium for Quran memorization. This study aims to describe students’ experiences and perceptions regarding the use of an AI application in the process of memorizing the Quran at Darussalam Bone Islamic Boarding School. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through online questionnaires distributed via Google Forms to 20 students. The research instrument was designed to explore students’ experiences in using an AI application and their perceptions of its benefits and limitations. The results indicate that using an AI application provides benefits as a supportive medium for memorization, particularly in assisting murojaah (memorization revision), understanding the meaning of verses, and offering flexibility for independent learning. However, the application has limitations in improving recitation accuracy and supporting progress in memorization, mainly due to insufficient features for correcting recitations and limited personal interaction. Therefore, the AI application is considered a complementary tool that cannot replace the role of an ustadz (teacher) in Quran memorization learning. This study recommends further development of an AI Application to make it more accurate, interactive, and aligned with the needs of tahfidz learning in Islamic boarding schools.
