Abstract

PT. F is a company operating in the automotive sector with products produced in the form of spare parts for cars and motorbikes. The problem faced by this company is the order made by the company when purchasing production-supporting materials which results in excess production-supporting materials, especially oil, this will result in high storage costs for the production-supporting materials and the company will incur additional costs for these expenses. The methods used to control production support materials are Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and forecasting methods. For the quantity ordered for production support materials, after calculating using the probabilistic model EOQ method, it was found that it was 28 liters of oil per order in the period February 2023 to December 2023. In addition, the company can find out the reorder point and safety stock for the production support materials, each of which is 47 liters. and 41 liters, so that companies are better able to control oil supplies and the problem of excess/shortage of production support materials will not recur. Abstract

XYZ is a company that produces gloves. Due to the resulting defects such as vague logos, slanted stitching, mold and loose stitching, the company needs to make quality improvements so that defects become 0%. The aim of this research is to carry out quality control using the Six Sigma and FMEA methods to determine the sigma value and determine the causes of defects and make recommendations for improvements to the highest defects. From the results of Six Sigma calculations, a sigma level of 3.6 was obtained, which means that it is sufficient and 197,300 defects can occur on a production scale of one million. The capability results with an average value of 1.15 indicate that it is only quite reliable on a scale of 1-2. FMEA shows the highest cause of failure is sewing machine jams which can cause skewed stitches. The recommended control plan is to carry out routine weekly machine maintenance. Common factors causing defects are lack of regular maintenance on production machines, worker negligence, worker fatigue due to hot weather, lack of strict supervision of workers during the production process, less skilled workers and humid air temperatures resulting in moldy gloves. Proposed improvements in overcoming defects include carrying out routine maintenance on all machines, carrying out strict supervision of workers, implementing SOPs with strict supervision, adding air conditioning facilities, and adding a sterilization process for finished glove products. Abstract

PQS is a company engaged in the processing of Crude Palm Oil (CPO). The production system employed is make-to-stock, with production planning based on estimates and without the implementation of any specific method for production forecasting. Consequently, this has led to unmet consumer demand, with consumers having to wait until the cooking oil is available and distributed (out of stock). The objective of this research is to forecast the demand for cooking oil to plan for CPO needs and to determine the forecasted results for five periods, spanning from August to December 2023. The methods employed include Single Moving Average and Single Exponential Smoothing, validated by the POM-QM application. Based on the calculation results using the Single Moving Average method, an MAPE (Mean Absolute Percentage Error) of 13.12% was obtained, while the Single Exponential Smoothing method resulted in an MAPE of 14.44%. The chosen method for obtaining the most accurate forecasting method for cooking oil demand for CPO needs is the Single Moving Average method, as it has a smaller error rate.
