Abstract

Blood is a vital necessity because in the event of a shortage, patients can only obtain blood from fellow humans. Blood available at the Blood Donor Unit, such as packed red cells (PRC) is most often needed for medical treatment, but is also often limited. This is due to the fluctuating supply and demand of blood. Based on the problem, a stochastic model with the continuous review system (CRS) or Q-system method is used. The approach will monitor inventory levels continuously, triggering reordering (r), when the stock reaches a certain threshold. This research applies a stochastic model to forecast demand (q), safety stock (ss), reorder point (r), maximum inventory (S), and total inventory cost (Ot). Before the calculation is done, the demand forecasting method is used, then the calculation with the Q-System. Based on data processing, obtained for each blood type A, B, AB, and O, namely, q values of 47, 48, 40, and 20 blood bags. The value of r is 73, 73, 71, and 17 blood bags. This study applies a stochastic model to estimate demand (q), safety stock (ss), reorder point (r), and maximum inventory (S) 259, 56, 42, 21. And the total inventory cost (Ot) IDR 212,429,215, IDR 238,485,254, IDR 157,422,496, and IDR 59,592,451. Keywords: Blood, Inventory, Demand, Q-System

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) typically operate within limited or small spaces, with production activities that are sometimes mismatched with their available conditions. This includes the Tahu Sehat Sari SME case, where the existing product layout results in significant material handling movement, leading to high operational costs. This research designs a facility layout tailored to the SME’s needs. The layout is developed considering various constraints such as cost, available area, and other resources. The goal of this design is to create a new production layout for Tahu Sehat Sari SME, accommodate its relatively high daily production capacity, to minimize operational costs, reduce material handling distances, and increase productivity. Based on the initial layout of the SME, proposed layouts using methods such as Modified Spanning Tree (MST) and Simulated Annealing (SA) are compared. From the layout designs using single-row Simulated Annealing, double-row Simulated Annealing, and Modified Spanning Tree, the total material handling distances calculated are 8,590, 1,950, and 1,695, respectively, with the total material handling distances in the current layout 2,600 m. The most suitable layout design is determined based on the minimization of total travel distance, directly correlating to the optimization of material handling and the elimination of waste. Abstract

Corn farmers generally maintain corn plants by watering them with fertilizer or pesticides which is usually done with a device available on the market in the form of a tube connected by a hose to a spray stick to spray the solution onto the plants. Standard factory spray equipment on the market is difficult to use, ineffective and also inefficient. The use of a carrying sprayer is less effective in reaching corn plants that are almost the same as an adult's height, and human power still plays a very big role. The aim of this research is to make improvements to the design of spray equipment to correct the shortcomings of existing spray equipment. The French method used in this research is based on the effectiveness of this method in meeting data needs comprehensively when designing new products, it is very flexible and can be adapted to various types of products. This research succeeded in creating a design and prototype for a semi-automatic portable corn sprinkler. The state of the art from this research is that the design of this plant sprayer can be disassembled and installed to suit the size of the land and is very flexible, which is designed to support regional and national government programs for the welfare of corn farmers. The land area that can be watered by the new tool is wider, namely 200 m2 x 4 with a time of 2 hours;  Meanwhile, the tools sold on the market are still manual and can only water an area of 200 m2 x 2 for 4 hours. Abstract

Pak Pon's chicken noodle SME is a business that sells chicken noodles located in Surabaya. This SME operates by selling only one menu item, chicken noodles, with an average of 200 kg of noodles sold per month, and it still purchases its noodle ingredients from suppliers. Therefore, none of the processes in this SME use machines to prepare the ingredients for the chicken noodles. Given this situation, the researcher has an idea to create a tool that can help streamline the production process in this SME with the aim of increasing sales profit. This research uses cost analysis methods to determine the cost of production, followed by the NPV method to assess whether the equipment purchased by the SME is feasible. The results of this research show that there is a comparison between making the ingredients in-house versus purchasing them. The investment in equipment for the SME is considered feasible, as the payback can be achieved in a few months. This study recommends that the SME increase its sales beyond 200 kg per month in order for the project to proceed as planned. Keywords: Cost analysis, Noodle Dough Tool, NPV, Profit
