Abstract

The manufacturing industry is required to maintain product quality to meet standards and reduce the level of defects in the production process. PT OPQ, which is engaged in the production of injection plastics, faces the problem of product defects that can affect operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Therefore, an in-depth analysis is required to identify the cause of the defect and determine the appropriate improvement strategy. This study uses the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method to identify the type of product defect, analyze the causative factors, and determine the priority of handling based on the calculation of the Risk Priority Number (RPN). Data was collected through direct observation, interviews with the production team, and analysis of production documents during the period from March to April 2024. The results showed that the main defects that occurred included incomplete mold (RPN 294), cracks (RPN 168), curved products (RPN 150), and excessive materials (RPN 100). The main causative factors are lack of material, uneven cooling, and errors in the injection and mold removal process. The application of the FMEA method allows companies to identify critical points in the production process and set more effective improvement priorities. With the improvement based on the results of this analysis, PT OPQ can improve product quality, reduce defect rates, and increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. Abstract

Dua Putra is a snack industry that produces Snack Bocil in the form of stick noodles with three flavors, namely seaweed, barbecue, and spicy. As the main product, Snack Bocil has received a positive response in the market with a distribution coverage that extends to Papua. However, in 2024, the company faces challenges in the form of drastically increasing consumer demand that exceeds the available production capacity. This condition requires the company to immediately increase production capacity through investment in equipment and expansion of production areas in order to meet consumer demand, maintain company growth, and maintain its reputation in the market. This study uses the Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) method with the help of demand forecasting using the Simple Moving Average method to determine the annual production target of 3,031 bals per month. The analysis is carried out using financial indicators such as NPV, PP, IRR, ROI, and PI to assess the feasibility of the investment. The results of the study indicate that business development is feasible with an NPV value of Rp 2,605,315, PP for 3 years and 7 months, IRR of 12.42%, ROI of 27.74%, and PI of 0.96, where in addition to the Payback Period, all indicate that the business development decision is not feasible. Thus, this business development step is expected to help the company meet market needs, increase production capacity, and make a significant contribution to sustainable business growth. Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in the industrial sector continues to evolve, requiring companies to remain competitive, including in the production of kernet seats. This study aims to improve the quality of kernet seat products at UMKM AB through the implementation of control charts, fishbone diagrams, and the 5S method. Based on control chart analysis, the average defect rate before improvement was 6.8 units per batch, with an upper control limit (UCL) of 12.1 and a lower control limit (LCL) of 1.46. After implementing quality control methods, the defect rate decreased to 3.2 units per batch, reflecting a 52.9% reduction. The fishbone diagram analysis identified the primary causes of defects, including suboptimal machine conditions (40%), insufficient worker skills (30%), material quality (20%), and unstandardized production methods (10%). Meanwhile, the implementation of the 5S method proved to enhance work efficiency, maintain workplace cleanliness, and optimize production time. Based on these findings, it is recommended that UMKM AB conduct regular machine maintenance, improve worker training, and carry out periodic audits on the implementation of the 5S method to ensure consistent and sustainable results. Abstract

This study analyzes the feasibility of Belt machine production capacity at PT YWN using the Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) method with the Bill of Labor Approach (BoLA). This research was conducted because PT YWN faces obstacles in meeting demand due to imbalance in production capacity on the Belt machine. This condition can lead to increased lead time, non-optimal resource utilization, and increased production costs. Thus, this method is used to identify overloading or underloading of production capacity and improve the Master Production Schedule (MPS). The analyzed data includes production plan, process time, working time, and machine efficiency and utility. The results showed that work center 2 experienced a capacity shortage of -17%, thus requiring additional machines, while work center 4 experienced an overcapacity of 58%. Recommendations include MPS revision, subcontract, overtime, and machine addition. The conclusion of this research shows that the RCCP method with BoLA approach is effective in evaluating production capacity, improving efficiency, and overcoming capacity imbalance. The results of this study are expected to help PT YWN in managing production capacity more effectively and efficiently. Abstract

PT Ciptaunggul Karya Abadi is a company engaged in manufacturing of metal stamping parts, tools and dies. At PT Ciptaunggul Karya Abadi, the machine that is often used is a press machine. The 60 T press is a machine that often experiences breakdowns among other types of machines. The absence of routine maintenance checksheet filling is one of the foundations for the need to analyze the application of Total Productive Maintenance to assess machine productivity and effectiveness so as to minimize the occurrence of defects and large losses. Measurement of machine effectiveness at the company can be done with the Total Productive Maintenance (OEE) method. The Total Productive Maintenance method is defined as a measure of total equipment performance, namely the extent to which the equipment does what it is supposed to do. This method is used in measuring the effectiveness of the use of an equipment or system by including several points of view in the calculation process. The calculation results obtained that the average Availability Rate is 94%, the Performance Rate is 90% and the Quality Rate is 97%. It can be concluded that the Performance Rate value of the 60 T sinohara press machine at PT Ciptaunggul karya Abadi does not meet the world class OEE standard. The six big losses factors can be considered as common factors that cause ineffectiveness. Keywords: Maintenance, OEE, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

Abstract

Dehydration is a serious medical condition that occurs when the body lacks the fluids necessary to carry out its physiological functions optimally. The problem of dehydration is often overlooked because of its inimmediate nature until it reaches a more severe level. To overcome these problems, a tool is needed that can help individuals to monitor water consumption and remind them to stay hydrated. This research aims to design an Internet of Think (IoT)-based dehydration prevention tool with a Design Thinking approach to ensure that the product is truly useful and accepted by users. The results of the analysis showed that the dehydration prevention device was acceptable if the device was able to remind the user without interfering with daily activities, ergonomic and attractive design, and customizable reminder features. Based on the results of the analysis of the System Usability Scale (SUS) score, this tool obtained a score of 63.67 with a grade scale of D, adjective rating good and included in the Acceptability Ranges category. The results of the financial analysis show that this dehydration prevention tool business is feasible to run. This business has positive indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp. Rp. 15,790,933.86, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 24%, Benefit/Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) of 1.21, Payback Period for 2 years and BEP of 43 units per month.   Keywords: Dehydration, Design Thinking, Financial Feasibility Analysis, Tool Design.

Abstract

This research discusses the analysis of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) calculations on slitter machines at PT. XZ which focuses on increasing production efficiency and effectiveness. As market demand for high quality and productivity increases, it is important to evaluate machine performance to identify areas for improvement. The aim of this research is to understand how OEE can be used to assess the effectiveness of slitter machines and the factors that influence their performance. The methods used in this research include direct observation, collecting machine performance data, and analysis using the OEE formula which includes availability, performance and quality. The analysis results show that the average OEE of the slitter machine is 90.36%, which shows that the machine is operating at a good level of efficiency. However, there are several inhibiting factors identified through the fishbone diagram, such as unexpected machine breakdowns, delays in material delivery, and lack of operator training. The main conclusion of this study emphasizes the need for proper maintenance and operator awareness in maintaining heavy equipment to increase overall effectiveness and productivity. Abstract

This research was conducted at PT Tri Jaya Teknik Karawang to analyze the constraints in making trial part action bracket support using SPHC T=3.2 material.  This research is important because the trial part process is a crucial stage in ensuring production efficiency and product quality before entering the mass production stage, this research can reveal the root causes of defects, determine the main risk factors, and provide effective improvement recommendations. By applying the FMEA method, companies can reduce product defect rates, improve production efficiency, and optimize the use of resources. The Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method and fishbone diagram are used to identify failures, causes, and determine the highest failure value. This research plays a role in improving production efficiency by reducing the number of defective products that can cause waste of cost and time. The results show that the failures that have the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) value are thread damage and off-center hole position with an RPN value of 180. Fishbone diagrams identify the main factors causing failures which include tapping, drilling, bending, and operators. Abstract

The Production Department at PT DOM faces a high defect rate in the chain model x. This study aims to identify the types of defects, analyze their root causes, and provide improvement recommendations to reduce defects. The method used in this research is the Seven Tools approach, which includes Check Sheet, Histogram, Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, Scatter Diagram, and Control Chart. The results indicate 14 major types of defects, with outer plate endless reversed, assy no riveting, and pin black (adhesion) being the most dominant. The Fishbone Diagram analysis identifies the primary causes of defects as stemming from human factors, machinery, methods, materials, and the environment. The Control Chart shows that the production process remains within control limits, but improvements are needed to enhance efficiency. Recommended improvements include operator training, enhanced quality supervision, implementation of preventive maintenance, and strict analysis of raw material suppliers. Abstract

The milk packaging table at CV Memory Susu Nusantara Semarang city is still sober. There are many weaknesses in working manually that cause work to slow down and get tired quickly. Adding facilities to the milk production process at CV Memory Susu Nusantara Semarang city in the form of a milk packaging table that makes it easier to work. The plan uses anthropometric methods with a sample of employees and the surrounding community with a total of 30 people as the size. The measurements used are hand reach forward, hip height, standing shoulder height and shoulder width. The research produced a table size according to anthropometric data, namely table height 80 cm, table area width 50 cm, reach length to the table 60 cm, seat height to the table 46 cm. It can be concluded that later with the packaging table facility workers are more comfortable at work, besides that it is more effective than the previous traditional way.
