Abstract

The high rate of product defects (rejects) in the production process directly impacts the efficiency of PT Z, a company engaged in the production of Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK). PT Z encountered a reject rate of preform material reaching 4.07% in July 2023, equivalent to 352,875 defective units out of a total of 8,674,644 units produced. This study aims to reduce the reject rate of preform material by implementing the Six Sigma method using the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). The analysis was conducted using Pareto and fishbone diagrams to identify the root causes of defects, which include human, machine, and material factors. The results showed a decrease in DPMO from 194,927.79 to 46,803.66, an increase in Sigma Level from 2.52 to 3.23, and a reduction in the reject rate from 4.07% to 1.17%. These findings confirm that the Six Sigma approach is effective in identifying defect causes and significantly improving production process quality in the bottled water industry. Abstract

Innovation Innovations in beverage packaging design currently focus on enhancing user experience, sustainability, and brand identity. However, conventional beverage packaging often fails to fully meet the needs for ease of opening, visual appeal, and new experiences sought by users, particularly younger consumers. Additionally, technical elements such as perforations have not been optimally utilized to enhance product interaction and aesthetic value. Therefore, this research is necessary to address these issues. Through a User-Centered Design (UCD) approach, this study identifies the needs and preferences of young users in the Jakarta metropolitan area, particularly in terms of ease of opening, visual appeal, and the new experiences offered. The design process began with a needs survey, followed by the development of a banana beverage bottle prototype incorporating a perforation system resembling the process of peeling a banana. An evaluation using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) with 70 respondents revealed that all measured aspects—attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, accuracy, stimulation, and novelty—received positive impressions. These results confirm the effectiveness of UCD in producing innovative, user-friendly packaging designs that align with user expectations. Abstract

Transportation Infrastructure Division of PT. Pindad is a strategic business unit that focuses on the production of railway infrastructure and marine equipment for local and export markets. One of its mainstay products is gongsol, which is an additional rail on sharp bends that functions to reduce wheel slippage and rail wear. The Fabrication, Construction, and Mechanical Department produces gongsol through a mechanical fabrication and assembly process. However, there was a discrepancy between the production time standards on the routing sheet and actual conditions in the field, especially in the afbrament process. This process is carried out by five employees in a squatting position for 8 hours per day. The purpose of this study was to identify complaints of pain using the NBM Method, identify work positions based on the level of danger using the REBA Method and make recommendations for drafting improvements. This study was conducted by interviewing & direct observation of employees in the afbrament process and Indonesian anthropometric standard data. The results of the analysis showed a final score of Rapid Entire Body Assessment of 9, which indicates the need for immediate improvement. Therefore, the design of an ergonomic work desk is recommended to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and increase work comfort. Abstract

The intense competition in the food industry in Central Java requires business actors to understand the marketing factors that influence consumer behavior. The lack of understanding regarding the impact of each element of the marketing mix (4P) on consumer attitudes and purchase intentions forms the background of this study. This research aims to analyze the influence of the 4P marketing mix elements—product, price, place, and promotion—on consumer attitudes and purchase intentions toward food products in Central Java. Using a quantitative approach with the PLS-SEM method, data were collected from 500 respondents aged 15–60 through an online survey distributed via social media. The analysis results indicate that only two relationships were statistically significant. These findings suggest that in the context of the food industry in Central Java, product quality and the development of consumer attitudes are the primary factors influencing purchase intention. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of local consumer behavior and serves as a strategic reference for business actors in formulating more effective marketing strategies. Keywords: β coefficient, consumer attitude, Central Java market, marketing mix (4P), online survey.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of defects found in the Cover Rear Center product manufactured using injection molding machines at PT. Remot Speed. Product defects such as flow lines, sink marks, burn marks, short shots, and discoloration can increase production costs, delay processing time, and reduce product quality. The Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method is used to identify potential causes of failure and determine corrective priorities based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN) calculation. Data were obtained through direct observation, operator interviews, and production documentation. Each defect type was analyzed using three main parameters: Severity (S), Occurrence (O), and Detection (D). The results show that flow lines have the highest RPN value of 200, making it the top priority for corrective action. The main causes include low injection speed, improper material temperature, and suboptimal mold design. Recommended corrective actions include adjusting process parameters such as increasing pressure, temperature, and holding time, as well as cleaning machine components. The application of FMEA proves effective in providing a structured overview of potential failures and appropriate improvement strategies. By implementing this approach, the company can reduce defect rates and enhance both product quality and production efficiency. Abstract

Abstract PT ABC is one of the companies in the textile industry (clothing) with dyeing, printing, and finishing units located in the Karanganyar area. This study aims to analyze quality control in the Teteron Rayon fabric dyeing production process at PT. ABC using the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) method. This method involves several statistical tools, namely histograms, Pareto diagrams, P-Chart analysis, and fishbone diagrams. Based on the results of the histogram analysis of defect data over a 12-month period, it was found that the highest defect rate occurred in March 2025 at 20,776 yards. The results of the Pareto analysis showed that the most dominant type of defect was streaks, with a total of 36,602 yards or 19% of the total defects. The p-chart analysis revealed that most of the production results were outside the control limits, with only one production period (February 2025) being within the statistical control limits. Meanwhile, fishbone analysis shows that the main causes of striped defects include lack of operator training, low understanding of grey fabric quality, suboptimal machine maintenance, work methods that do not comply with SOP, and weak supervision of the production process. With this, the company is advised to improve workforce training, improve maintenance systems, and tighten operational supervision to reduce the number of defects and improve product quality.
