Abstract

Compliance of pregnant women in taking Fe tablets is an important effort in preventing anemia during pregnancy, but the level of compliance is still relatively low due to the lack of understanding of pregnant women regarding the benefits and proper ways to consume Fe tablets. Health education using flip chart media is one of the methods that can increase understanding and encourage changes in compliance behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using flip sheets on compliance with Fe tablet consumption in pregnant women in the working area of the South City Health Center. The results of the Wilcoxon test obtained a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which shows a significant influence of health education using flip sheets on compliance with Fe tablet consumption in pregnant women. It was concluded that health education using flip sheets was effective in increasing compliance with Fe tablet consumption. It is recommended that the South City Health Center optimize the use of flip sheet media in antenatal care services.

Abstract

Dug well water is still widely used by the community as a source of clean water, but the quality often does not meet turbidity requirements. High turbidity levels can reduce water quality and increase health risks, so effective, safe, and environmentally friendly water treatment efforts are needed by utilizing natural coagulants. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the combination of moringa seeds and leaves (Moringa oleifera) as a natural coagulant in reducing the turbidity level of dug well water. The type of experimental research with a pre-test-post test research design uses a combination dose of moringa seeds and leaves, namely 10 mg, 20 mg and 30 mg. The water sampling technique is Purposive sampling. Data analysis used the One-Way Anova test and the LSD (Least Significant Difference) follow-up test. The results of the study showed that the turbidity value of dug well water in pre-test conditions was 15.5 NTU. The reduction in cloudiness after treatment with a dose of 10 mg had an average of 3.77 NTU (75.67%), the 20 mg dose of 2.53 NTU (83.67%), and the 30 mg dose of 3.17 NTU (79.54%). The Anova One-Way test showed a significant difference in effectiveness between doses of coagulants (p-value = 0.038 < 0.05). Follow-up LSD tests showed a significant difference between the 10 mg and 20 mg doses (p-value = 0.014 < 0.05), but there was no significant difference between the 10 mg and 30 mg doses (p-value = 0.146 > 0.05), as well as between the 20 mg and 30 mg doses (p-value = 0.128 > 0.05). It is recommended for subsequent researchers to test variations in stirring speed as well as other water quality parameters.

Abstract

Sudden cardiac arrest is a serious health threat in long-distance running that requires rapid treatment through Basic Life Assistance or BHD to increase the chances of safety of the victim. However, runners' knowledge of the procedure is often not optimal, so structured education is needed. This study aims to analyze the influence of BHD education on the level of knowledge of long-distance runners in the RIOT Gorontalo community. This research method uses a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study is Long Distance Runners in the RIOT Gorontalo Community, totaling 120 respondents. The sample was mixed with the purposive sampling technique totaling 55 respondents who were given interventions in the form of education using lecture methods and simulations measured through questionnaires. The data analysis of this study used the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed that before the intervention, the majority of respondents had sufficient category knowledge as much as 56.4%, but after being given education, there was a significant increase where 52.7% of respondents reached the good category. Statistical results showed a p-value of less than 0.001 (<0.05) which proved the very significant influence of BHD education on improving runners' knowledge. These findings are expected to be the foundation for the running sports community in developing routine safety training programs to improve the preparedness of community members in dealing with cardiac emergencies on the running track.

Abstract

Menopause is a natural phase in a woman's life that is often accompanied by physical and psychological changes, one of which is anxiety. Anxiety that is not managed properly can negatively impact the quality of life of menopausal women. One non-pharmacological effort that can be done to reduce anxiety is positive affirmation therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of positive affirmation therapy on maternal anxiety levels in facing menopause in the South Kota Community Health Center area. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design through a pretest–posttest control group design approach. The study population amounted to 83 people with a sample of 36 respondents consisting of 18 respondents in the intervention group and 18 respondents in the control group, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test to determine the effect of anxiety levels before and after the administration of positive affirmation therapy. The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety levels in the intervention group after being given positive affirmation therapy compared to the control group. The statistical test results showed a p-value <0.05, indicating that positive affirmation therapy significantly reduced maternal anxiety levels during menopause. The study concluded that positive affirmation therapy significantly reduced anxiety levels in menopausal mothers. This therapy is recommended as a simple, safe, and effective non-pharmacological intervention to help mothers cope with menopause.

Abstract

he low coverage of complete basic immunization is still a public health problem in the work area of the South City Health Center. One of the factors that contribute to this condition is the perception of parents towards immunization. Wrong or unformed perceptions can influence parents' decisions in immunizing their babies. This study aims to explore in depth the perception of parents towards infant immunization based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) component. This study uses a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach supported by the perspective of symbolic interactionism. The study was carried out in the working area of the South City Health Center by involving nine parents who had babies aged 0–18 months, who were selected by purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The data was analyzed thematically. The results showed that parents' perceptions varied on each component of HBM. Some parents view babies as vulnerable to disease if they are not immunized, while others feel that their babies are not at risk because they appear healthy. The perception of disease severity tends to be low because concerns about the side effects of immunization are more dominant than the perception of disease danger. Most parents understand the benefits of immunization, but there are still doubts in some participants. Psychological and social barriers, especially fear of side effects and family influence, are the most dominant factors in immunization decision-making. The conclusion of the study shows that the decision to immunize infants is influenced by the interaction of all components of HBM. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen health education that emphasizes the benefits of immunization, reducing barriers, and increasing parental self-confidence

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease with one of the complications being Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU). Prevention of DFU depends on good foot care behaviors, but there are still many patients who have not applied it optimally. Education using SMART Booklet media is one of the promotive and preventive efforts to improve foot care behavior. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the SMART Booklet educational media on foot care behavior in type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Limboto Health Center. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a one group pre-post test design approach. The study population was 188 patients, with a sample of 33 respondents selected using purposive sampling techniques. The research instrument used the Nottingham Assessment of Functional Foot Care (NAFF) questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed an improvement in foot care behavior after the intervention with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means that there was a significant difference before and after education. The SMART Media Booklet is said to be effective because it is designed based on the principles of Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound which presents foot care steps in detail, systematic, and in accordance with the patient's condition, making it easier for patients to follow the stages of treatment gradually and form habits that are carried out regularly. The presentation of structured and readable material also strengthens the consistency of the implementation of foot care in daily life.

Abstract

Adolescent nutritional status is an important indicator of health influenced by physical and psychosocial factors. In adolescence, academic stress and changes in eating behavior often contribute to the emergence of nutritional problems, both undernutrition and overnutrition. This condition is suspected to be related to stress levels and emotional eating behavior tendencies. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and emotional eating behaviors with adolescent nutritional status at SMA Negeri 7 Gorontalo City. This study used a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 163 adolescents who were selected based on criteria, namely adolescents with a minimum level of stress in the mild category, not undergoing a diet program, and not having chronic diseases. Sample selection was taken using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. This research instrument uses the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire and the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ). Bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between stress levels and nutritional status of adolescents (p-Value = 0.000). Meanwhile, there was a significant relationship between emotional eating behavior and adolescent nutritional status (p-Value = 0.000). It is hoped that it can be an information and evaluation material for adolescents, schools, and related parties in understanding the relationship between stress levels, emotional eating behaviors, and adolescent nutritional status. These findings can also serve as a basis for consideration in promotive and preventive efforts that focus on adolescent mental health and eating behavior in the school environment.

Abstract

Nurses are the spearhead of health services that are vulnerable to work stress and burnout due to high job demands, large responsibilities, and long working hours. Burnout can reduce the quality of service and work productivity of nurses. This study aims to analyze the influence of work period, workload, personality, and leadership style on work boredom with work stress as a mediating variable in nurses at Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto Hospital. The research sample amounted to 90 nurses who were taken with a total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using Univariate, Bivariate, and Multivariate analysis (path analysis) through the SPSS version 25 program to test the direct and indirect influence between variables. The results showed that there was an influence of work period, personality workload, and leadership style factors with burnout in nurses at Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto Hospital with p. Value (0.000 ? 0.05) while simultaneously the variables of working period, workload, personality, and leadership style had a significant effect on work stress (R² = 0.68). Partially, workload (? = +0.55; p = 0.000) had the strongest positive effect on work stress and working time (? = +0.28; p = 0.004) had a moderate positive effect, while personality (? = ?0.41; p = 0.000) and leadership style (? = ?0.33; p = 0.000) had a significant negative effect. Work stress itself had a significant positive effect on burnout (? = +0.63; p = 0.000), with a value of R² burnout = 0.74. The largest indirect influence on burnout occurred through the workload pathway ? work stress ? burnout (total ? = +0.72). The conclusion of this study shows that workload is the most dominant factor that increases nurse burnout, while a stable personality and supportive leadership style play an important role in reducing work stress and preventing burnout. These findings underscore the importance of workload management and transformational leadership development in an effort to maintain the psychological well-being of nursing staff.
