Abstract

Self-medication, particularly for pain, is becoming increasingly common. However, most patients still lack adequate understanding of the types of medications, dosages, and potential risks. Therefore, education provided by pharmacists plays a crucial role in improving patient understanding and satisfaction with the rational use of painkillers. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-medication education on painkillers and patient satisfaction at Blunyah Farma Pharmacy, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. The study used a quantitative observational method with a cross-sectional design. The independent variable was self-medication education on painkillers, while the dependent variable was patient satisfaction. Data were collected through questionnaires completed directly by patients purchasing painkillers. The study sample consisted of 300 respondents from a total population of 1,200, with a margin of error of 5%. The results showed that the majority of respondents received high levels of education (57.7%) and expressed very high levels of satisfaction with the services they received (40.3%). A Spearman Rank correlation test using SPSS version 22 showed a very strong and significant relationship between the two variables, with a correlation coefficient of 0.941 and a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05). Therefore, the better the quality of education provided, the higher the patient satisfaction level.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the extent of understanding among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) regarding the role and benefits of financial reports. Although financial reports are vital for business continuity, many UMKM still do not understand and apply them properly. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach by conducting in-depth interviews with eight UMKM in Sungai Duren Village engaged in the culinary, craft, and service sectors. The research findings indicate that the majority of UMKM only record basic transactions and have not yet prepared formal financial reports. The main causes of this low understanding are a lack of accounting education, limited training, and the perception that financial reports are only relevant for large companies. Relevant mentoring and education are needed so that UMKM can understand and utilize financial reports to develop their businesses.

Abstract

To improve students' operative skills, clinical anatomy instruction is crucial in medical education. An approach that integrates anatomy and surgical practice is considered more effective than the conventional method that separates the two. Previous research findings may not be entirely consistent. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with thematic analysis, encompassing quantitative and qualitative studies from the last five years from reputable databases. The selected articles addressed clinical anatomy in a surgical context and its impact on the operative skills of medical students. When clinical anatomy is integrated into surgical education, patients' understanding of applicable anatomy and basic technical skills, including procedures such as cricothyroidotomy, appendectomy, and dissection, improves. Simulation, surgical procedures using experimental animals, and virtual reality technology are all methods that can facilitate learning. These techniques enhance anatomical accuracy, dissection skills, and clinical decision-making based on body structures. The quality of the facilitator, continuity of education, and practice tools (including wet labs and VR/AR) are all factors that influence effectiveness. Challenges include limited time, limited instructional resources, and variations in approaches across institutions. The integration of clinical anatomy into surgical education is recommended to bridge the gap between theory and clinical skills, with a systematic curriculum grounded in real- world practice and simulation.

Abstract

Self-confidence is one of the most important aspects of a person's personality, lack of self-confidence causes many problems for that person. Self-confidence among adolescents is related to external factors such as body weight. The tendency to gain weight can reduce adolescent self-confidence, especially when adolescents compare themselves to a good body image. In 2022, the problem of low self-confidence among adolescents in Indonesia was quite high, with the results of 15.5 million (34.9%) adolescents experiencing low self-confidence and 2.45 million (5.5%) adolescents experiencing mental disorders. Efforts that can be made to reduce the number of overweight in Indonesia include detecting cases of obesity as early as possible. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education using motion video media on real food consumption on the self-confidence of the control group and the intervention group of overweight adolescents. The research design in this study used a Quasi-experiment. The time approach in this study used a cross-sectional approach. The independent variable in this study was the motion video of real food, while the dependent variable was the self-confidence of overweight adolescents. The location of the study was MA Sabilul Ulum Mayong. Based on the difference test of 2 unpaired groups using the Mann Whitney test, there was a P-value of 0.00, which means <0.05. So Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in changes in answers between the intervention group and the control group.

Abstract

Lip balm is a cosmetic preparation designed to help protect, nourish, and moisturize the lips. This study utilizes mangosteen peel extract (Garcinia mangostana L.), which is rich in antioxidants, as the active ingredient in lip balm formulations. The aim of the study is to evaluate the physical quality and antioxidant activity of five lip balm formulas containing varying concentrations of mangosteen peel extract (10%, 15%, 20%, 25%) and one comparison formula containing 10% vitamin C. Physical quality tests included organoleptic evaluation, homogeneity test, and pH measurement. In addition, antioxidant activity was assessed using the DPPH method, along with skin irritation and user preference tests. The results showed that all lip balm formulas exhibited good organoleptic characteristics and homogeneity, with pH values ranging from (4.5 to 6.5). Irritation tests revealed no negative skin reactions. User preference tests indicated that Formulas F3 and F4 were the most favored in terms of texture, aroma, and comfort of use. The highest antioxidant activity was observed in Formula F5 (IC₅₀ = 46.6 µg/mL), followed by F4 (64.3 µg/mL), F3 (101 µg/mL), F2 (112 µg/mL), and F1 (113 µg/mL). These findings demonstrate that mangosteen peel extract can be successfully formulated into lip balm products that meet physical quality standards and exhibit significant antioxidant activity. The formula containing 25% extract (F4) showed the most optimal overall performance among the tested formulations.

Abstract

Hypertension is a growing global health problem, characterized by systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg. It is often called "The Silent Killer" because its symptoms are subtle. This disease has the potential to cause serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Factors such as unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and increasing age contribute to the increasing prevalence of hypertension, as reported by the WHO and the Ministry of Health. This condition requires a comprehensive treatment approach, using both pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One non-pharmacological alternative that is attracting attention is foot massage therapy. This therapy is based on the principle of stimulating acupuncture points in the feet, which can improve blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, and reduce stress hormones such as cortisol and norepinephrine. With its deep relaxation effect, foot massage not only has the potential to lower blood pressure but also improves sleep quality and reduces anxiety, thereby improving the overall quality of life for hypertensive patients. Several previous studies support the effectiveness of this therapy in significantly lowering systolic and diastolic blood pressure. This study aims to test the effect of foot massage therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Wukirsari Village, Tambakromo District, Pati Regency. The research design used was observational with a pre-test and post-test control method. The intervention group received 20 minutes of foot massage therapy every evening, while the control group received education about hypertension. Blood pressure measurements were conducted using a sphygmomanometer with systematic recording according to standard operating procedures, thus obtaining valid data regarding differences in blood pressure before and after the intervention. Methodologically, this study involved 35 hypertensive patients selected purposively based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Primary data were collected through direct observation, interviews, and recording of blood pressure measurements, while secondary data were obtained from official sources such as community health centers (Puskesmas) and the Health Office. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to describe the parameters of each variable, and inferentially using t-tests (paired and independent) to test for significant differences between the intervention and control groups. The study results are expected to provide a strong scientific basis for the application of foot massage therapy as an alternative or complementary treatment for hypertension, while also opening opportunities for further research in this area.

Abstract

Kapuk randu (Ceiba pentandra (L). Gaertn) is a plant that is widely found in Indonesia and has long been used in traditional medicine. The seeds of this plant are known to contain various secondary metabolite compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and phenolics that have the potential to be antioxidants. This study aims to identify the compounds contained in randu kapok seeds and evaluate their potential antioxidant activity. The research method involves the extraction of kapuk seeds using maceration with 70% ethanol solvent. Furthermore, qualitative phytochemical screening is carried out to identify groups of compounds such as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and phenolics. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH method with concentration variations of 40, 80, 120, 160, and 200 ppm. The results of phytochemical screening showed that randu kapok seed extract was positive for alkaloid and flavonoid compounds. Antioxidant activity testing yielded an average IC50 value of 276.5 μg/mL. Based on categorization, the IC50 value indicates that randu kapuk seed extract has very weak antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition of blood pressure that is higher than normal, which can damage vital organs such as the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys. If left untreated, this condition increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, and death. The effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs is determined by their ability to lower blood pressure, generally 7–13 mmHg systole and 4–8 mmHg diastole to achieve blood pressure targets. This study aims to determine the rationality of anti-hypertension which is assessed in terms of the right dosage, indications, patients, and drugs at Telaga Medika Gubug Clinic. This study is a type of observational research (non-experimental) with a descriptive research design using the retrospective cohort method. The approach was carried out retrospectively with a research time of June 1, 2025 The research location was carried out at the Telaga Medika Gubug Clinic, with a total sampling of 155 respondents according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
