Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of science applications in contextual learning in improving students' science literacy. This study uses a quantitative approach with a single group pretest and posttest design on eighth grade students of junior high schools in urban areas. Data were collected through science literacy tests based on literacy competency indicators, learning implementation observation sheets, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were performed using descriptive analysis, calculation of learning outcome improvement, and mean difference tests. The results showed that the application of science-based contextual learning was able to significantly optimise students' science literacy, especially in the competencies of explaining scientific phenomena, designing and evaluating scientific investigations, and interpreting scientific data and evidence. Learning that integrates real-life contexts, local knowledge, and problem solving has been proven to make the learning process more meaningful and optimise student engagement. These findings indicate that science application-based contextual learning is effective as a strategy for improving science literacy in science learning.

Abstract

The performance of teachers is a crucial factor influencing educational quality, especially in Indonesia, where both national and international evaluations reveal ongoing difficulties in student learning outcomes. This study is to investigate the impact of management competence, interpersonal communication, and success motivation on teacher performance in public elementary schools within the Meurah Dua Subdistrict. A quantitative descriptive methodology with a correlational survey design was implemented. The population comprised 128 teachers, all chosen using comprehensive sampling. Data were gathered using Likert-scale questionnaires that adhered to validity and reliability criteria (Cronbach’s ? > 0.70). Data were examined utilizing descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Anticipated outcomes suggest that management competence and achievement motivation significantly enhance teacher performance, whereas interpersonal communication has a good but comparatively weaker impact. All three variables are anticipated to strongly forecast teacher performance. The findings are expected to underscore the significance of leadership capacity and motivational techniques in enhancing instructional quality and teacher productivity.

Abstract

This study investigates the administration of educational facilities and infrastructure as a strategic initiative to enhance the quality of elementary education in Aceh Tamiang Regency. The research used a qualitative descriptive methodology centred on the fundamental managerial activities of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating, engaging principals, teachers, and facilities managers from SD Negeri Pusung Kapal, SD Negeri Tangsi Lama, and SD Negeri Tualang. Data were gathered by interviews, observation, and documentation, then analysed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion formulation. The findings indicate that the three institutions have implemented a methodical and cooperative framework for managing buildings and infrastructure. During the planning phase, the needs assessment relies on field data and is consistent with formal documents, including the School Work Plan (RKS) and the School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS), thereby assuring stakeholder engagement. The organizing phase demonstrates a distinct allocation of roles and duties, bolstered by efficient interdepartmental collaboration. The implementation phase emphasizes that the procurement and exploitation of learning materials are conducted in accordance with instructional requirements, with active engagement from educators and facilities staff. During the evaluation phase, ongoing monitoring facilitates prompt maintenance and enhancement. The study emphasizes a participative, coordinated, adaptable, and context-sensitive management paradigm that fosters educational quality improvement, illustrating that collaborative resource management can enhance learning environments even in resource-constrained situations.

Abstract

Teacher performance is critical to improve learning quality in primary schools, but empirical research shows that many teachers continue to struggle with effective lesson planning, implementation, and assessment. This study investigates how coaching-based academic supervision provided by school leaders increases teacher performance via a reflective, dialogical, and collaborative developing process. Data were obtained using a qualitative descriptive technique, with in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation from principals, teachers, and supervisors at SD Negeri Paya Bedi and SD Negeri Pahlawan in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Data analysis included data reduction, data visualization, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that coaching supervision effectively assists teachers in (1) formulating clear, measurable, and contextual performance goals; (2) identifying strengths, weaknesses, and constraints in real instructional practices; (3) designing realistic instructional improvement strategies; and (4) developing strong commitment to implementing agreed-upon action plans through continuous monitoring. The coaching approach improves pedagogical and professional competencies by promoting teachers as active participants in professional development. This study shows that coaching-based academic supervision increases teacher ownership, reflective capacity, and motivation to sustainably enhance performance in elementary school settings.

Abstract

The rapid progression of education in the 21st century has increased the necessity for innovation in schools, especially at the primary level where fundamental skills are cultivated. School principals serve as pivotal agents of change, with administrative proficiency being a crucial factor in promoting sustainable educational innovation. This study examines the role of principals' managerial ability in fostering and executing innovation in public elementary schools in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive methodology, data were gathered via in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving principals and educators from three public elementary institutions. The results indicate that principals' managerial competence—exemplified by systematic planning, collaborative organization, consistent execution, and ongoing supervision—substantially fosters innovation in educational practices, school administration, and organizational culture. Nonetheless, difficulties pertaining to inadequate infrastructure, digital preparedness, and inconsistent teacher proficiency persist as barriers to the sustainability of innovation. The study finds that enhancing principals' managerial competency via ongoing professional development and institutional support is crucial for promoting educational innovation, especially in regional elementary school settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the learning evaluation system for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at MTsN 1 Langsa by comparing two curriculum approaches, namely Curriculum 2013 (K13) and the Merdeka Curriculum. The main focus of this study is on the planning, implementation, and evaluation instruments applied by PAI teachers within the two curriculum frameworks. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving PAI teachers, the head of the madrasah, and students. The results indicate that the implementation of learning evaluation in Curriculum 2013 emphasizes structured assessments of knowledge, skills, and attitudes using standardized instruments. In contrast, the Merdeka Curriculum provides greater flexibility for teachers in selecting more contextual evaluation methods that are oriented toward students’ individual competencies. Nevertheless, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum presents greater challenges, particularly in terms of teacher readiness and the availability of flexible evaluation tools. This study concludes that each curriculum has its own strengths and limitations in the learning evaluation system, which need to be aligned with the needs and characteristics of learners. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective and adaptive evaluation policies for Islamic Religious Education at the madrasah level

Abstract

In a period of increased educational rivalry and accountability, schools need to employ management strategies that ensure continual quality improvement. Total Quality Management (TQM) has emerged as a strategic paradigm for improving educational services using systematic, data-driven, and participative methods. This study looks into the managerial skills of school principals in implementing TQM at public elementary schools in Meurah Mulia Subdistrict, Aceh Utara, Indonesia. Data were acquired using a qualitative study design, including in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis with administrators, teachers, and parents. The findings show that principals' managerial competence—conceptual, human relations, and technical skills—plays an important role in implementing TQM concepts in daily school activities. Among these categories, technological abilities, particularly those related to educational technology and data systems, stand out the most. However, the analysis also highlights problems in collaborative culture and shared responsibility for quality improvement. This study contributes to the developing discussion on educational leadership by emphasizing that effective TQM implementation in schools is dependent additionally on policy adoption, but also on the principal's capacity to integrate managerial expertise into a sustainable culture of quality. The report proposes that school leaders receive systematic professional development to improve their interpersonal communications skills and encourage deeper stakeholder participation.
