Abstract

This activity is carried out with the aim of understanding secondary teachers about learning tools that involve mathematical literacy. The methods used are training, discussion, and mentoring. Training and discussions were carried out using zoom for two days, while mentoring was carried out using google classroom for one month. The target of this activity is secondary teachers in Pagaralam City, South Sumatera. Evaluation is carried out by giving assignments to teacher and providing a satisfaction questionnaire for implementation. The results show that teachers are satisfied with the overall implementation of the activity and teachers understand learning tools that involve mathematical literacy, teachers can design tools well and test them out on students.

Abstract

Problematika Anak Tidak Sekolah (ATS) sebagai salah satu faktor pemicu Kemiskinan Ekstrim dan Stunting merupakan bagian yang perlu dibahas dimana ini merupakan contoh yang bisa secara gamblang dirasakan dampaknya dari sisi Pendidikan untuk kepentingan Ekonomi dan juga Kesehatan. Adanya problematika anak tidak sekolah (ATS) ini baik karena faktor ekonomi, moral, dan penyebab lainnya harus benar-benar diperhatikan tidak hanya oleh Pemerintahan tetapi juga oleh Masyarakat itu sendiri sehingga pemicu dari Kemiskinan Ekstrim maupun Stunting ini dapat dicegah sedini mungkin. Fakta ini didapatkan dari hasil Verval Pendataan Anak Tidak Sekolah (ATS) pada tahun 2022, yang terlaksana selama masa Kuliah Pengabdian Masyarakat di Desa Jengkol, Kecamatan Garung, Kabupaten Wonosobo. Verval dilakukan dengan Pengumpulan Data Anak Usia 7-18 tahun di Desa Jengkol, mengidentifikasi Status Anak Tidak Sekolah (ATS), dan dieksekusi dengan interview secara langsung dengan Responden, dan dari data-data yang dikumpulkan didapatkan fakta-fakta yang nantinya bisa menjadi modal dalam penanganan Anak Tidak Sekolah (ATS) sebagai bentuk penanggulangan Kemiskinan Ekstrim dan Stunting.

Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to introduce, prepare and increase students' knowledge, especially students of mathematics achievement at SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyah Purwokerto about effective and efficient as a provision to take part in the National Science Competition in the field of mathematics or other similar math competitions. So far, the selected students are given independent guidance by the teachers at the school. However, due to scientific limitations and the teacher's busy schedule, the activity of building mathematics achievement is still not optimal. The method of implementing this activity consists of three stages starting with the first stage, namely the introduction of mathematical problem solving strategies, followed by the second and third stages in the form of material deepening activities. The post-test results showed an increase in the average post-test score of 22% from the average pre-test score. This shows an increase in the non-routine mathematical problem solving ability of the participants after being given training. The results of observing participant activities for three meetings also showed that the percentage of activity during the training increased at each meeting. This shows the increasing ability and motivation of the trainees in solving non-routine math problems. Keywords: Problem Solving, Non-routine Mathematics Problems, National Science Competition

Abstract

Arabic is familiar to Muslims because the main source of teaching is the Qur'an and hadith, both of which use Arabic. In addition, the books of scholars in the field of Islamic sciences also use Arabic. Thus, Arabic is an urgent language to learn as Muslims. However, the Indonesian people, especially the millennial generation of students, still regard Arabic as a very difficult language to learn. Therefore, providing an understanding of the importance of learning Arabic needs to be done to the community so that they are able to recognize their identity as Muslims as a whole. Speaking skill (maharah kalam) is one of the most important aspects in learning Arabic because learning a foreign language will be easy if you are actively involved in communication efforts. Therefore, the author held training and mentoring activities for maharah kalam in learning basic Arabic at TKA/TPA Al-Ikhsan, Congkoe Hamlet, Lamatti Riaja Village, Bulupoddo District. The result of this activity is that in the process of learning Arabic, students show an enthusiastic attitude in receiving learning materials. This can be seen from their enthusiasm for learning, enthusiastic attitude in practicing vocabulary or conversation in front of friends, asking questions about the material that has been presented, and responding well to questions asked. Thus, the results of the learning evaluation show that students who have never studied Arabic are able to know well the lessons that have been taught and can pronounce Arabic vocabularies properly and correctly.

Abstract

Scientific writing is a familiar academic activities to students of higher education. Since the beginning of their academic life in higher education, students have been faced with various tasks that involve scientific writing as reports. In addition, writing scientific papers is one of requirements for students in order to obtain academic degree in higher education. However, some evidenc and results of several previous studies show that students' writing skills are still low. Even though there have been supporting courses to support students in compiling scientific papers, many students consider writing scientific papers as a tough task. Therefore, it is needed for training activities to improve students' knowledge and abilities in writing scientific papers. This scientific writing training is part of service activity. The training was carried out in five meetings, they were 1) providing material on scientific writings and writing methods, 2) selecting ideas and titles of works, writing backgrounds, reviewing literature and writing references, 3) writing research methods, 4) writing results and discussions, and closing, 5) review and finalization of the works. The results of this training activity shows that students' interest in writing scientific papers is quite high. However, students' initial knowledge about scientific writing and writing methods is still low. Therefore, this scientific writing training activity is necessary. The posttest results shows that 90% of the participants experiences an increase in their writing knowledge and skills. These results indicate that this training activity is effective in helping students improve their knowledge and ability to write scientific papers.

Abstract

The low literacy or reading interest of children in the Watukumpul sub-district, precisely in the village of Majalangu, is caused by children who are more likely to choose to play and gather together to play online games. Technological sophistication is one of the factors for the lack of literacy in children in Watukumpul District and the lack of motivation in children which causes low literacy. The existence of this service is expected to provide understanding and knowledge to children and can improve literacy skills. The method used is direct assistance with an educational approach. From this assistance, the children in Majalangu Village, Watukumpul Subdistrict have the motivation to improve literacy, besides that the children are also enthusiastic because of their high curiosity.

Abstract

The development of science and technology in the world of education requires every individual to innovate. A teacher is a profession that requires particular skills in teaching students in schools. Developing skills in teaching is a must for teachers to get results that contribute to improving the quality of education. This service aims to provide understanding in the form of learning media training for teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Kutorejo. The implementation of community service activities regarding learning media training got satisfactory results because as many as 87% of teachers felt the benefits of increasing knowledge in teaching with learning media.

Abstract

The Fiqh Pocket Book Socialization activity in the context of increasing understanding of fiqh lessons is an activity aimed at youth youth groups in Mojokambang village so that they obtain information, so that awareness arises, accepts and ultimately uses the information to add insight related to fiqh material. The implementation method includes observation, asking permission from partner villages, planning stage, implementation stage (socialization), training and monitoring and evaluation stage. This socialization contains the delivery of material on the importance of learning fiqh for Muslims as a guide to living in accordance with the Qur'an and Hadith as a provision for daily life in facing the challenges of the times. After the socialization, a fiqh discussion seminar was held. The results of the socialization of the fiqh pocket book showed that the participant's response to the material presented was in good category with an average percentage of 89%, the participant's response to the demonstration of fiqh material practice was in good category with an average percentage of 89%. Participants' responses to the media used in the process of learning fiqh material were categorized as good with an average percentage of 80%. The participant's response to the socialization instructor was categorized as good with an average percentage of 79%. So overall the participants gave a positive response to the socialization activity of providing fiqh material as a means to increase insight and knowledge and understanding related to fiqh learning for youth youth in Mojokambang village.

Abstract

Rumah Belajar Matematika is a tutoring place located in Kebonan Hamlet, Yosowilangun Kidul Village, Yosowilangun District, Lumajang Regency, East Java. The tutoring participants are elementary and junior high school students, totaling 15 people. Based on the results of observations made by the KKN team, so far the tutors at the Mathematics Learning House have never made learning innovations, especially in the use of game-based learning media. This makes us compelled to carry out mentoring activities in learning mathematics by utilizing learning media based on the counting bunny game which can make it easier for students to understand the concepts of addition and multiplication of integers. The expected goals of this service activity include: 1) so that mathematics learning activities in the tutoring can be more attractive, interesting, and fun, so that tutoring participants can be more enthusiastic in learning mathematics; 2) encourage teachers or tutors in tutoring places to be able to innovate more in learning activities, one of which is the use of learning media; 3) the use of learning media is expected to help make it easier for tutors to convey mathematical material or concepts; 4) students find it easier to understand the material or concepts presented; and 5) student learning outcomes are getting better. This learning mentoring activity was carried out for 2 days, where the KKN team acted as tutors. At the end of the activity, a response questionnaire was given to the tutoring participants to find out their response to the learning process using the counting bunny game, including enthusiasm, motivation, and interest. The results of the participants' responses showed positive results, with an average score of 3.35 and included in the high category, which means that the participants felt more enthusiastic, motivated, more interested in learning mathematics after using the counting bunny game learning media.

Abstract

In addition to studying in formal schools, Students (Santri) can also study in non-formal schools such as participating in training to increase their understanding of a lesson. However, to be able to participate in the training certainly costs a lot. The symptoms found were that some of the students came from underprivileged families, found it difficult to divide study time with their busy lives at the Islamic Boarding School Darul Ulum Widang - Tuban, lacked interest in learning English, and did not have English manuals or other than textbooks from school. This service activity aims to improve the students' English through training at the Islamic Boarding School Darul Ulum Widang - Tuban. The method used in this service activity is fun training in the form of games, singing, and short conversations. The result of this service is that the students' English skills have increased with this training as evidenced by the increase in the average score of the students' English from 31.66 on the initial test to 65.83 on the final test, it can be concluded that using the training method is an effective way to improve Students' English at Islamic Boarding School Darul Ulum Widang - Tuban.
