Abstract

Kreativitas merupakan salah satu kompetensi utama pendidikan Indonesia. Sebagai bekal karir profesional mahasiswa calon guru, penting bagi mereka untuk mengalami aktivitas matematika yang menumbuhkan berpikir kreatif (creative-thinking). Aspek utama creative-thinking pada matematika adalah divergent-thinking yang meliputi fluency, flexibility dan novelty/originality. Tetapi, muncul tidaknya divergent- thinking juga dipengaruhi faktor lain, yaitu isi dan bentuk tes/tugas yang diberikan. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pembelajaran dengan pemberian scaffolding. Scaffolding diberikan dalam bentuk tertulis, yaitu pemberian environmental provisions dalam bentuk soal/tugas terstruktur, dan scaffolding verbal pada diskusi/dialog matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menerapkan metode design research. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memperoleh gambaran yang menyeluruh dan detil tentang bagaimana scaffolding yang telah diberikan mampu menunjang munculnya creative-thinking sesuai dengan komponen divergen-thinking. Data pada peneliti antara lain hasil kerja mahasiswa dan rekaman video pembelajaran yang menunjukkan scaffolding dalam dialog matematika. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa calon guru yang sedang menempuh matakuliah Telaah Matematika Sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa scaffolding yang telah diberikan membantu menumbuhkan creative-thinking pada komponen fluency dan flexibility. Dari level 0 sampai 4 pada creative-thinking, mahasiswa mampu mencapai level 3.

Abstract

This article describes students’ mathematical-thinking process in solving PISA-model mathematics -problems. Mathematical-thinking is not only important for academic succes, but is also esssential for developing mathematical reasoning and critical thinking habits in sustainable development for creating better life. In order to achieve the research aims, we used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected using mathematical activities adapted from PISA items. Three students’ works that represent each level of mathematical ability were selected for in-depth analysis. The findings shows that students’ mathematical-thinking ability in solving PISA-model mathematics-problems is determined by how the students go beyond phases of mathematical-thinkng proses (Entry, Attack, Review). Students can solve problems correctly if they are able to go through all phases, although not all aspects of each phase are fulfilled. If students fail in the Entry phase, it is certain that they cannot go through the next two phases properly (Attack and Review).

Abstract

There are some important skills to be mastered in the 21st century, such as basic literacy, competence and character. One of the basic literacy required is mathematical literacy. Mathematical literacy is an individual's capacity to use mathematical reasoning, formulate, implement and interpret mathematics with the aim of solving problems in various real-world contexts. The type of mathematical activity that is able to accommodate mathematical literacy is PISA-like mathematics-problems. However, several previous studies have shown that many Indonesian students have difficulty in solving PISA-like mathematics-problems, especially on Uncertainty and Data content. One factor that causes this is that many students do not know or lack practice in solving PISA-like mathematics-problems. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the use of PISA-like mathematics-problems as a mathematics-learning-activity in schools. Thus, in this study, the PISA-like mathematics-problems of Uncertainty and Data content was developed. The product developed is used as a mathematical activity in learning at school as an effort to support students' mathematical literacy. This study uses Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The product trial results shows that the product developed is valid and appropriate to support students' mathematical literacy. In addition, the product received good responses from students.

Abstract

Banyak mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam problem-solving karena mereka tidak mengetahui konsep yang mendasari masalah/soal. Pada umumnya mahasiswa menyelesaikan masalah matematika dengan sekedar fokus pada formula/rumus dan menyubtitusikan bilangan ke dalam formula tersebut tanpa memperhatikan prinsip yang relevan maupun strategi yang tepat. Akibatnya, mahasiswa tidak dapat menemukan solusi yang tepat.  Untuk mengatasi hal ini, diberikan scaffolding pada mahasiswa dalam aktivitas problem-solving.  Sehingga, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memperoleh gambaran menyeluruh tentang bagaimana scaffolding membantu mahasiswa mengatasi kesulitan dalam problem-solving. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan metode design-research. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa scaffolding yang diberikan membantu mahasiswa menemukan dan mengaplikasikan konsep/prinsip yang relevan, memfasilitasi mahasiswa melakukan refleksi terhadap strategi penyelesaian, dan mahasiswa dapat menentukan solusi yang tepat melalui tahapan problem-solving.

Abstract

This research aims of determining the effects of the hypnoteaching method toward the student mathematical abilities in the trigonometry ratio. The type of this research was quasi experimental with nonequivalent control grup design. The study variables consisted of independent variable was the hypnoteaching method and dependent variable was the mathematic competence student. The population in this research includes all students of X grade in the State Senior High School 10 Jombang the consist of 5 class. The sample in this research was students of class X.MIA-1 as the experimental class and students of class X.MIA-2 as the control class. The data were collected by using pretest and posttest questions in a descriptive format. Statistical analysis used is n-gain with independent sample t-test. The result shows that are the average gain normalized the mathematical ability of the experimental class students with the average gain normalized the mathematical ability of the control class students. It is can be proved by the Sig.calculate (0.000) < α (0.05) and reinforced by the result of calculation tcalculate > ttable (6.162 > 1.995) which means Ha is accepted and Ho rejected. Thust, it can conclude that hypnoteaching method has an effect toward the student mathematical abilities in the trigonometry ratio. Keywords: hypnoteaching; student mathematical abilities

Abstract

This research as a purpose to understand the effect a peer tutor learning method about the results of learning cognitive math of students X class at main materialssystem of linear equation three variables. This research belong quantitative descriptive research. Subject of the research is student X class at MA Assulaimaniyyah Mojoagung Jombang as many as 30 students.The research has carried on only one category without a group of a comparison. The data collecting use question test and math results learning outcomes at other materials was learned by teacher at that school. That other materialsislinier equation and inequality a value of absolute one variables.The results of learning at other materials as a purpose to understand the first condition of student while results of learning cognitive math as a purpose to understanding change condition. Analysis of the data using t-test and a significance level of = 0,05. The results of data analysis using t-test obtained t = 6,743 and table = 2,045 at significance level of 5%.It means that there were significant peer tutoring methods to the result of learning cognitive math of student X class at materials system of linear equation three variables in MA Assulaimaniyyah.

Abstract

Concept of proportions is essential for many educational topics. However, many students find it difficult to solve problems on proportion. The students often find it hard to determine an appropriate reasoning to be used in a certain situation, whether they should use absolute or relative thinking. Therefore, we need to design learnig activities that support the development of students’ relative thinking in solving problems on proportions. Due of that, we designed learning activities involving contextual problems which are based on the tenets of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). The result of this study shows that contextual problems may promote students’ relative thinking in solving problems on proportion. Keywords: Relative thinking; Contextual problems; Proportion.

Abstract

This research is aimed to measure the effectivity of Problem Based Learning models and it’s application to the learning process. The subject of this research is the student of X MIPA 7 Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Jombang that contains 46 students. Meanwhile, the object of this research is mathematics learning process using Problem Based Learning models. This research was done using the experimental method and One-Shot Case Study design. The application of One-Shot Case Study is giving a treatment to the subject of the research. The kind of data that was being collected in this research is quantitative data. The data then, being analysed using paired sample t-test. The analysis was done using SPSS program and shown the value of Sig.calculate (0.000) < α (0.05) which means Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. So, there is differences between pretest result anf postest result. Therefore, it can be concluded that problem based learning models is effective for mathematics learning in grade 10th MA.

Abstract

This research is aimed to measure the effectivity of Problem Based Learning Models andit’s application to the learning process. The subject of this research is the student of XI MIPA II Madrasah Aliyah Unggulan KH.Abd.Wahab Hasbullah Jombang that contains 19 students. Meanwhile, the object of this research is mathematics learning process using Discovery Learning. This research was done using the experimental method. The application of Scientific is giving a treatment to the subject of the research, and observe the results of the experiment. The result of this research shown that the application of Discovery learning models can make the classical completeness of the class reaching.

Abstract

Mathematics is a basic science that plays an important role in the development of science and technology. Mathematics is used as a means of thinking, developing reasoning power, logical, systematic, and critical thinking. One of the important aspects in mastering mathematics is the ability of students to apply mathematics in various situations in everyday life. Given the importance of mathematics education, various types of tests on students' mathematical abilities have been held, one of them is PISA study. PISA survey especially evaluates on students’ability on applying their mathematics knowledge in solving problems from real life context. However, based on result of latest PISA and severeal pervious studies, show that students in Indonesia are still weak in connecting mathematical concepts that have been studied with problems in everyday life. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the use of PISA-like Mathematics Problems within personal context, especially math problems that are relevant to the real-life context of Indonesian students. Due of that, in this study, the PISA-like Mathematics Problems within personal context will be developed. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) research, by adapting ADDIE model. The study was conducted at a class of XI-A SMPN 2 Sumobito Jombang. The results show that the PISA-like mathematics problems are valid and practical. Besides that, the results of the implementation of the PISA-like Mathematics Problems within personal context in this study showed that there were students who rarely even completed non-routine math problems such as the PISA-like mathematics problems.
