Abstract

The era of globalization has had a significant impact on the social, cultural and psychological lives of students. Rapid technological and information developments require students to be adaptable, but also give rise to various psychosocial challenges such as stress, anxiety, identity crises and social pressure. This article aims to examine educational interpretation strategies as an alternative approach to addressing these challenges. Educational interpretation approaches offer a holistic perspective by integrating religious, moral and spiritual values into educational practices. Through a qualitative literature-based study, this article identifies that educational interpretation strategies can provide new meaning to the learning process, focusing not only on cognition but also on character development and emotional balance in students. The study's findings indicate that education based on the values of Quranic interpretation, for example, can foster psychological resilience, social empathy and self-awareness in students facing the complex currents of globalization. Thus, educational interpretation strategies are a relevant and applicable solution to address the psychosocial challenges of today's students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the values of character education in the short story collection "This Child Wants to Pee in Jakarta". The values of character education in the short story collection "This Child Wants to Pee in Jakarta" are religious character values, patience, attention, liking to listen to advice, trying hard, fighting for the truth, justice, honesty, positive thinking/husnudzan, persistence, independence, never giving up, liking to read, and ideals. Religious character values related to divinity can be applied indirectly through worship activities at school. Likewise, other character values can be closely related to the teaching of character education at school. And its utilization in learning activities in high school. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data of this research are in the form of sentences/paragraphs in event units in five short stories "This Child Wants to Pee in Jakarta" by Ahmad Tohari, "Hakim Sarmin" by Agus Noor, "Basa-Basi" by Jujur Prananto, "Two Singers" by Budi Darma, and "A Bottle of Rain of Sapardi" by Joko Pinurbo. The instrument in this research is the researcher himself who is equipped with a set of theories and concepts regarding the values of character education. The data analysis method used in this research is content analysis, while the data analysis technique in this research is descriptive qualitative.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) produce a valid learning device with a PowerPoint-assisted inquiry approach to improve students' activeness and process skills; and (2) test the effectiveness of the device. This study is development research with a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), but modified to 3D, only up to the development stage. The results of the study indicate that the developed device is valid and effective. The development achieved classical completeness with a score of 77 and an average of 96%. There is an influence of student activeness on learning completeness of 57.1%, and the influence of process skills of 70%. Simultaneously, activeness and process skills contribute 71% to learning completeness. Learning completeness in the trial class is higher than in the control class, and learning outcomes after learning are higher than before learning, indicating the effectiveness of the PowerPoint-assisted inquiry approach.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of Wordwall, a web-based game-based learning platform, in enhancing student engagement in English language learning for seventh-grade students at SMPN 2 Tidore Kepulauan. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design consisting of two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed qualitatively and descriptively to assess students’ activeness, motivation, and participation. The findings indicate that prior to the intervention, classroom activities were predominantly teacher-centered, resulting in limited student involvement. Following the integration of Wordwall, student engagement improved significantly across all indicators. The percentage of students asking questions increased from 30% to 80%, answering questions from 20% to 90%, participating in discussions from 35% to 90%, and completing tasks from 50% to 100%. The overall average of student activeness rose from 30% in Cycle I to 90% in Cycle II. These results demonstrate that the use of Wordwall as an interactive instructional medium is effective in fostering student motivation, promoting active participation, and creating a more learner-centered and engaging English learning environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of improving the quality of education which is influenced by the competence of teachers and the visionary leadership of school principals. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Driving Teachers and Visionary Leadership on the quality of education in State Elementary Schools throughout Palembang City. The study used a quantitative approach with 92 respondents and 60 school principals. Data were obtained through observation, documentation, and questionnaires, with validity tests using the product moment formula, reliability using Cronbach's Alpha, and analysis prerequisite tests including normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation tests. Data analysis was carried out by multiple regression. The results of the study showed that partially Driving Teachers had a positive effect of 44.5% and Visionary Leadership of 49.6%, while simultaneously both had a very strong positive influence on the quality of education, which was 95.4%. Thus, it can be concluded that Driving Teachers and Visionary Leadership have a significant contribution to improving the quality of education, especially if the two run synergistically.

Abstract

Pronunciation is crucial while learning English, yet many students struggle to get it right. ELSA Speak and other language learning applications offer self-paced, artificial intelligence-powered pronunciation at one of the Islamic institutes in Jambi. A qualitative descriptive approach was utilized, interviewing five pupils. The findings show that users valued the app’s real-time feedback and phonetic comparison capabilities, which helped them, discover and correct pronunciation mistakes. While most students felt more secure speaking informally, confidence in formal circumstances remained low due to chronic worry. Despite technical limitations, such as problems detecting particular vowel sounds, users considered the app helpful in constantly practicing pronunciation. The study finds that ELSA Speak effective in boosting pronunciation, while other treatments may be needed to address speaking anxiety in formal situations.

Abstract

This study investigates the patterns and functions of code-switching in English learning at MTs Amin Darussalam, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through classroom observations, audio recordings, and interviews with eighth-grade students during the 2025/2026 academic year. The analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s framework, focusing on data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal three main types of code-switching: inter-sentential, intra-sentential, and tag switching, with inter-sentential switching being the most frequent. Teachers primarily used code-switching to explain lessons, clarify meanings, and manage classroom interaction, while students employed it to overcome vocabulary limitations and enhance self-expression. Tag-switching served to seek confirmation and maintain classroom rapport. Overall, code-switching was found to facilitate comprehension, build confidence, and create a supportive learning environment. The study concludes that code-switching is a natural and effective communicative strategy in bilingual classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of the Artsteps Virtual Museum learning media on the history learning outcomes of class XI students at Eria Medan Private High School. The method used is a quantitative descriptive study with a Quasi-Experimental design through a pretest-posttest control group design model. The study population included all class XI students at Eria Medan Private High School, with a saturated sampling technique so that the entire population of 50 students was sampled. Data were collected through multiple-choice pretest and posttest tests that had passed validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminatory power tests. Data analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests using independent sample t-tests. The results showed a difference in the average posttest score, where the experimental class obtained an average of 86.88 which was higher than the control class of 68.48, with a significance value of 0.001. This proves that there is a significant influence. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Artsteps Virtual Museum media has a positive and significant effect on the history learning outcomes of class XI students at Eria Medan Private High School

Abstract

Women’s struggles against patriarchy remain a crucial subject in feminist and postcolonial scholarship, yet limited attention has been given to how cinema contributes to theorizing subaltern subjectivity. This study addresses the gap by analyzing North Country (2005) through feminist criticism and postcolonial theory, particularly Spivak’s concept of the subaltern. The purpose is to examine how women’s silenced voices in patriarchal structures are represented and how subaltern subjectivity transforms into political agency. Using qualitative textual and film analysis, the study integrates Spivak’s subalternity with Butler’s performativity, Foucault’s disciplinary power, Fraser’s redistribution and recognition, and Mohanty’s transnational feminism. Findings show that the mine functions as a patriarchal microcosm, but resistance and solidarity enable women to reclaim voice and agency, redefining the feminist maxim “the personal is political” and extending its resonance transnationally. The study concludes that North Country (2005) is a cultural artifact dramatizing the journey “from subaltern to subject,” underscoring cinema’s role as a theoretical production.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) on the learning outcomes of Natural Sciences (IPA) students in grade V at MIS YPI Btg Quiz. LKPD is designed to hone the ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve problems according to learning achievement indicators. The research used an experimental method with a two-group pretest - posttest design. The research population is all students of class V MIS YPI Btg Quiz which totals 55 students, while the research sample consists of class VA (29 students) and class VB (26 students) in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research instrument was in the form of a description test totaling 5 items that had been validated (r count 0.458 - 0.730 r table 0.278) and reliable (Cronbachs Alpha = 0.637). The results showed that there was a significant difference between the science learning outcomes of students who used HOTS-based LKPD and those who did not use it. The independent samples t-test obtained a value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001 ( 0.05), so it can be concluded that the application of HOTS-based LKPD has a real effect on improving the science learning outcomes of grade V students.
