Abstract

The presence of the Enlightenment Era (Aufklarung) in the 18th century which emphasized rationality and reason, has not been able to eliminate the belief in ghosts in modern society. Currently, rationalization of ghosts is often found in books, television, films, and social media. Efforts to rationalize ghosts actually thwart enlightenment and lead modern society into the commodification of ghosts through the culture industry scheme. In Theodor W. Adorno's Critical Theory, the culture industry is always commercially oriented and makes ghosts a commodity to gain profit. The purpose of this study is to reveal why enlightenment has failed again in modern society by dismantling the commodification of ghosts. This study offers a solution to awaken modern society from false consciousness due to the rationalization of ghosts that are bound by the commodification of ghosts. This study is also expected to be able to renew Adorno's Critical Theory in the context of enlightenment in modern society, namely a different society when this theory was first proposed. Methodology of this study is a qualitative study using the netnography method with a critical paradigm. The object is modern society represented in 9,682 comments on the YouTube Channel "Kisah Tanah Jawa" episode "KKN Desa Penari". By using netnography and analysis of modern society conversation themes from the channel, this study shows the existence of sub-themes of standardization, massification, commodification and false consciousness which indicate the presence of the culture industry scheme. This study also shows how ghost symbols in the culture industry scheme have been produced through 4 approaches to ghost symbol production involving the help of science, technology, religion and rationalist narrative construction in forming false consciousness. This study also reveals the active role of modern society in encouraging the formation of ghost commodification. The result of this study show that society plays an important role in efforts to prevent the failure of enlightenment. True enlightenment is only possible if the relationship between text producers, text consumers, and capital owners is no longer dominated by the logic of capitalism. To achieve this, modern society needs to encourage decommodification of every ghost commodification that occurs and always develop critical awareness to reduce the occurrence of domination and exploitation behind the cultural products they consume to prevent the failure of enlightenment.

Abstract

As a form of commitment to realizing inclusive access to modern energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve sustainable development goals as stated in the Paris Agreement, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has designed and implemented various energy cooperation programs at the regional level. Through the ASEAN Plan of Action on Energy Cooperation (APAEC), the ASEAN countries emphasize the regional interconnectivity agenda through infrastructure development projects, one of which is the ASEAN Power Grid (APG). However, there are still several obstacles in the implementation of cooperation under the APAEC framework, namely the absence of a coherent institutional and regulatory framework, as well as differences in tariff, taxes, and energy pricing policies among ASEAN member countries. ASEAN Energy Market Integration (AEMI) is a recommended scheme for strengthening and deepening the established regional energy cooperation under the APAEC framework. This study attempts to analyze Indonesia's readiness to face the discourse on the formation of AEMI, particularly in the electrical energy sector, by using two indicators, namely the harmonization of policies and regulations, and infrastructure development. Using qualitative methods and semi-structured in-depth interview techniques, this study seeks to explore whether the regulations enacted by the Government of Indonesia comply with regional agreements, and to what extent the Government of Indonesia has committed to regional infrastructure development. This study concludes that Indonesia has made efforts to harmonize policies and established agreements on the APG framework with other ASEAN countries. However, Indonesia still needs to map its perception of the need for energy comprehensively and look for the right form of coordination among related institutions to gain more advantages in the ASEAN energy market integration.

Abstract

The rapid development of drone technology has led to innovations in various fields, including surveillance, security, and transportation. One of the latest advancements is the Shepat Drone prototype, designed based on the aerodynamics of the bomb fixed-wing concept. This study aims to develop a drone that adopts the flight mechanics and stability characteristics of a bomb fixed-wing system, which is known for its high maneuverability and energy efficiency. The methodology involves aerodynamic analysis, biomimetic-based structural design, and performance testing through simulations and direct experiments. The results indicate that the Shepat Drone prototype exhibits better stability in various environmental conditions and higher energy efficiency compared to conventional rotary-wing drones. With this approach, the Shepat Drone has the potential for applications in search and rescue, environmental monitoring, military operations, and industrial use.

Abstract

Concerns about sustainability are shared by the corporate and academic groups. Organizations have become more knowledgeable about sustainability-related issues during the past 20 years, including what sustainability is, why it's significant, and how to manage and measure it. In 2016, the Dutch government unveiled its policy plan, “Circular Economy in the Netherlands by 2050.” The Netherlands will use fewer abiotic (mineral, metal, and fossil) resources thanks to the policy strategy. How Wageningen University & Research maintains its success in the field of higher education is the subject that this study seeks to address. We use a narrative approach. Wageningen University & Research's synergy has improved since the merger. It is the focus of many academic publications and has a substantial impact on environmental sustainability. Because we examine the story of Wageningen University & Research's success, a qualitative study is suited for this subject. The University of Indonesia, National Taiwan University, The Higher Education, the Government of the Netherlands, and particularly Wageningen University & Research are the primary targets of this study's narrative methodology, which focuses on published materials. The coordination of environmental, technological, and financial factors has been done by Wageningen University & Research. The importance of education in preserving the deteriorating environment that societal injustices have caused is growing. This study shows how Wageningen University & Research has expanded and continued to be successful. Environmental quality, sustainability, and governance have all been strategically managed.

Abstract

The creation of the 'Prodigal Son' animation stems from the author's realization of the need for fresh and engaging church teaching media for youth aged 12-17. Current media often lack appeal, as they focus only on storylines without offering deeper engagement. This gap highlights the urgency to develop new media that effectively delivers story essence using the Gestalt MoVS(Movement on Voice and Spirit) visual style. The study addresses how to create animation that fills this gap, applies Gestalt MoVS concepts, and visualizes the 'Prodigal Son' story through this approach. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method and practice-based research, the process includes literature studies on Gestalt MoVS theory, theological philosophy, hermeneutics, semiotics, VCD (Visual Communication Design) principles, and expert interviews with theologians, animators, media experts, and adolescent psychologists. Media trials with targeted audiences also contribute to the visual analysis. The result is an aesthetically pleasing animation that conveys the story's three main essences—repentance, forgiveness, and gratitude—in a paradoxical configuration, addressing both repentant audiences and those who judge others. The animation offers an innovative solution to engage teens and simplify Bible story delivery, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to inspire spiritual understanding and real-life application.
