Abstract

Safeguarding is a critical component of healthcare services, particularly as it relates to protecting vulnerable populations. It aims to shield individuals from violence, exploitation, sexual abuse, and neglect. The concept of safeguarding goes beyond physical protection, encompassing psychological, social, and legal dimensions that uphold individual rights—especially for vulnerable groups such as children, women, persons with disabilities, and those with limited access to safe healthcare services. This community engagement initiative aimed to raise awareness and understanding of safeguarding and risk mitigation in healthcare services. The safeguarding workshop involved participants from Muhammadiyah organizations and utilized group discussions, case studies, role-plays, and scenario-based simulations. Pre- and post-training evaluations were conducted to assess the increase in participant understanding. The results indicated an improvement in safeguarding knowledge and led to the drafting of the initial Safeguarding Guidelines for Health Council of Muhammadiyah Central Board. These guidelines encompass safeguarding definitions, core principles, preventive strategies, case-handling procedures for violence, exploitation, and sexual abuse (VESA), and reporting mechanisms tailored to Muhammadiyah’s context. iven the novelty of safeguarding as a concept, some participants found it challenging to identify forms of VESA or understand preventive measures. Thus, continued efforts through advanced training and broader policy dissemination are necessary to deepen understanding and enhance implementation. Abstract

Environmental sanitation issues and low immunity levels among students remain major challenges in Islamic boarding schools located in rural swamp areas. This community service program, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) through the BIMA Grant Scheme, aimed to address these problems at Darul Falah Putri Islamic Boarding School, Barito Kuala. The activities consisted of (1) counseling and training on household waste management through ecoenzyme production, and (2) counseling and training on the utilization of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) for traditional jamu preparation as an immune booster. Methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, practical demonstrations, and evaluations through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed a significant increase in students’ knowledge and skills, with average test scores improving from 75 to 90 for ecoenzyme training and from 70 to 85 for jamu preparation. Students successfully produced ecoenzyme fermentation products and ready-to-drink herbal jamu, demonstrating the applicability of local wisdom in promoting health and sustainability. This program not only enhanced students’ awareness and competencies but also contributed to fostering a culture of healthy living and environmental responsibility within the pesantren community.

Abstract

The stunting reduction program is a priority program of the Denpasar City government. The target prevalence of stunting in Denpasar City is expected to reach 4% in 2023. Currently, there are still 482 children with stunting spread across 21 villages/subdistricts in Denpasar City. To achieve this, massive stunting prevention efforts are needed during the first 1000 days of life, starting from pregnancy until the child is 2 years old. Exclusive breastfeeding is an important factor in child nutrition. One of the problems faced in breastfeeding is feeling that there is not enough breast milk to meet the baby's needs. This community service aims to identify knowledge and skills before and after guidance. The activity will take place from August to September 2025. The target is pregnant women in Dangin Puri Klod Village, Bali. Aromatic Back Massage guidance is a combination of 5 basic massage techniques with aromatic oil along the spine, providing a relaxing effect and stimulating the ejection of prolactin and oxytocin. The guidance had an impact on increasing the knowledge and skills of the target group. Direct guidance for pregnant women provided many opportunities to share experiences and knowledge within the group. Updated information encouraged pregnant women to be more enthusiastic in participating in activities and practicing what they had learned. Information media also played an important role in maintaining the knowledge and skills of pregnant women in preparing for the breastfeeding period

Abstract

Rumpiang Village is located in the northern part of Beruntung Baru District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province. This area is located in a low-lying plain, so most of the population works in sectors related to water and swamps. The plain of Rumpiang Village is a green area where rice fields are located, and many wild plants grow around the village, such as nipa palms, water mimosa leaves, water jasmine, water spinach, weeds, and other wetland plants. However, this local wisdom has not been utilized to its full potential due to the limited knowledge of rural communities regarding natural ingredient plants. Therefore, there is a need for education on the utilization of Nypa fruticans Wurmb plants to become the village's flagship product. The method for implementing this activity uses a participatory approach, namely socialization. Socialization to increase public knowledge, measured by pre-tests and post-tests to assess participants' initial knowledge. PKK cadres also received education regarding the halal product registration process and the siHALAL website. Knowledge regarding marketing strategies is still very limited, with an average score of 60, indicating a need for further education and guidance for PKK cadres.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 21.6% in 2022 (SSGI). Early detection at Posyandu is often constrained by manual recording, which is time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to integrate with health systems. This study aimed to implement SI-MASTING (Stunting Early Detection Information System) to improve the effectiveness and accuracy of child growth monitoring. The study was conducted at Posyandu Sanggrahan, Sukoharjo, involving 95 cadres through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), along with trials on 11 toddlers. Results showed that SI-MASTING reduced the average recording time from 7.1 minutes to 2.4 minutes per child (66.2% efficiency) and decreased the error rate from 15.4% to 2.1% (86.3% accuracy improvement). Detection of children at risk of stunting increased from 48% to 92% (44% improvement). Cadre satisfaction was high, with an average score of 4.52 out of 5; ease of use received the highest rating of 4.67, followed by application speed at 4.58. In case testing, 45% of toddlers were identified as stunted, with the highest prevalence of 50% in the 12–18 month age group. In conclusion, SI-MASTING effectively accelerates early stunting detection, enhances data accuracy, and empowers cadres in nutritional interventions. The system has strong potential for integration with e-Puskesmas and replication in other regions as part of the national strategy to accelerate stunting reduction.

Abstract

One of the risk factors for worm infections is low knowledge and environmental sanitation. Elementary school age children are a vulnerable group for experiencing this infection. The Cikiwul 1 Bantar Gebang public elementary school is located in the Bantar Gebang Bekasi waste dump area. Poor school environmental sanitation is a risk factor for the spread of worms and the incidence of nutritional deficiencies and absorption, so that students can suffer from anemia. This community service with the community partnership program (IPKM) science and technology scheme aims to prevent anemia through education about worms and hemoglobin examination of Cikiwul 1 public elementary school students. The target audience is 100 students in grades 5 and 6. The implementation method is through education, providing knowledge about worms, measuring the increase in knowledge through pre-test and post-test. Hemoglobin examination using the biosensor method using Point of Care Testing (POCT), based on the criteria of the World Health Organization, 2001) or clinical practice guiding anemia, 2005. The examination material used is the student's capillary blood. Implementation results were obtained from 100 students who took part in the education, 99 students took the initial knowledge measurement (pre-test), and the measurement of increasing knowledge (post-test). The pre-test result was 69.9, the post-test result was 85.1. There was an increase in knowledge of 15.2%. The results of increasing knowledge for the recognition of worm types were 63%, for the prevention of worms 80%, for the causes of worms 52.5%, for the effects of worms 28.3%, and for the detection of worms 11.1%. The overall prevalence of anemia is still relatively high (22%), with moderate anemia predominant (17%). Boys tend to experience anemia more than girls. Class 6 showed the highest proportion of moderate anemia (19.6%), indicating the potential for continued accumulation of nutritional deficiencies. There were no cases of severe anemia, but 1 in 5 children had Hb levels < 11.5 g/dL, which indicates the need for nutritional intervention and continued health monitoring.

Abstract

Climate change is a global challenge that requires a thorough understanding of greenhouse gas (GHG) pollutants. Gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), and nitrous oxide (N₂O) trap heat in the atmosphere, causing global warming with serious consequences such as extreme weather events and ecosystem disruption. The main sources of emissions come from the energy, industrial, agricultural, and land-use change sectors. This paper emphasizes that identifying the types of GHG pollutants and their characteristics is crucial for developing targeted mitigation strategies. These efforts, which include a transition to renewable energy, increased energy efficiency, and strong policy implementation, are expected to significantly reduce global emissions, stabilize the climate, and control the rate of warming.

Abstract

Puger Kulon Village possesses superior potential not only in processed fishery derivative products but also in the promising maritime business sector. This diversity of potential makes the village a maritime circular business with a sustainable economic concept. However, limited human resources are limited, preventing the village from mapping the development of this circular business. The Puger Kulon village community has not yet implemented structured Standard Operating Instructions (SOPs) and integrated financial planning and management. The community service program for this assisted village consists of several stages, including: 1. determining the mapping and creating SOPs for the development of the Puger Kulon Village maritime circular business sector; 2. creating and organizing social accounting-based financial reports; 3. providing education and training related to marketing the maritime business potential. The resulting outputs include the availability of Standard Operating Instructions (SOPs) and guidelines for preparing financial reports.
