Abstract

This community service program titled "Socialization and Training on the Utilization of Solar Energy as an Environmentally Friendly Electricity Source in Karang Taruna, Gambir District" aimed to address the critical issues faced by the community due to their heavy reliance on unstable and costly fossil energy from PLN (the state-owned electricity company). The program also targeted the low understanding and practical skills related to solar energy and the underutilization of solar energy potential in urban settings. The implementation comprised two core components: socialization of solar energy and climate change impacts, and hands-on training on mini solar panel systems. Using interactive lectures, demonstrations, direct practices, and discussions, the program was conducted on March 16, 2025, involving 31 participants mainly from Karang Taruna members. A significant improvement in participants’ comprehension was observed, with average pre-test scores rising from 45 to 82, indicating an 82.22% increase. Furthermore, participant satisfaction reached 90.32%, alongside a 70.96% enhancement in practical ability to operate mini solar panel setups. Key outputs included teaching materials, posters, and scientific articles, collectively contributing toward enhanced community energy independence, reduced electricity costs, and promotion of clean energy adoption in urban areas.

Abstract

Nationwide, school violence and bullying occur. Most instances occur between the first and second years of high school and might be physical (hitting, kicking, or hair pulling) or verbal. Classroom, small group, and computer-based training are provided. After a socialization session, participants were given a questionnaire to learn what they knew and wanted to know about school violence prevention, physical, verbal, and digital violence, early signs of violence, sexual violence, and bullying vs. joking. This socialization report analyzes the pre- and post-test results of training on handling physical, verbal, and online sexual harassment for 67 SMAN 07 Medan students using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) approach. The Youth Red Cross 006 of SMAN 07 Medan arranged the workshop to study student bullying and physical, verbal, and cyber sexual violence. This research encompasses students from SMAN 7 Medan, specifically from grades X (17), XI (17), and XII (33). Student N-Gain scores increased significantly for male (0.88) and female (0.94) pupils. The training outcomes suggest schools need to hold annual sexual violence and bullying prevention training and outreach initiatives. To maintain student knowledge, schools should incorporate related resources into the curriculum or guidance and counseling. Thus, universities might develop research-based training modules for secondary schools to combat violence and bullying.

Abstract

Pancasila, as the foundation of the state, plays a vital role in shaping the character of the nation. However, the practice of its values among students has begun to fade due to the challenges of globalization, technological advances, and the influence of foreign ideologies. The problem faced by students at the UPMI in Medan is that their understanding of Pancasila is limited to memorization without appreciation and practice in their daily lives. The phenomena of intolerance, individualistic attitudes, and a decline in social awareness indicate that the internalization of Pancasila values has not been successful. To overcome these problems, activities to promote the Pancasila Virtue Movement were carried out in coordination with the UPMI rectorate and student organizations. The implementation methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, inspirational video screenings, and question and answer sessions. The material covered Pancasila as the foundation of the state and the Pancasila Virtue Movement, the implementation of Pancasila values in student life, and strategies for becoming agents of change. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the practice of Pancasila values and the formation of a community of Pancasila-minded students who are committed to carrying out real acts of virtue. This program is expected to strengthen the character of students and make them pioneers of the Pancasila Virtue Movement on campus and in the community.

Abstract

Pancasila as the foundation of the Indonesian state holds a vital position in shaping the character and national identity, yet the understanding of Pancasila values among the younger generation, particularly university students, tends to deteriorate in the era of globalization. The problem faced by students at the UPMI is that their understanding of Pancasila remains normative and limited to memorizing its principles without comprehending the elaboration of values contained in each principle and how to apply them in real life. Phenomena such as intolerance, discrimination, and declining nationalism indicate that a deep understanding of the elaboration of Pancasila values has not been optimal. To address this problem, socialization activities regarding the elaboration of Pancasila values were conducted through coordination with the UPMI rectorate and the student affairs division. Implementation methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, case study presentations, and question-and-answer sessions. The material covered Pancasila as the state foundation and the urgency of understanding its value elaboration, the elaboration of values in each principle of Pancasila and their implementation in student life, as well as the role of students in preserving and disseminating Pancasila values. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the elaboration of Pancasila values and heightened awareness to practice them in daily life, thereby forming strong student character aligned with the Indonesian national identity.

Abstract

This community engagement program was initiated in response to the linguistic needs of foreign students from the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Philippines, who required Indonesian language proficiency to participate effectively in a student exchange program with the Institute of Technology and Business Asia Malang, Indonesia. The partner institution faced two primary challenges: the absence of a practical and systematic Indonesian language training program for foreign learners and the limited initial language competence among NEUST students. Interestingly, structural similarities between Tagalog and Indonesian—particularly in basic morphemes and affixation patterns—offered a promising foundation for language acquisition. The program aimed to introduce fundamental Indonesian language proficiency equivalent to BIPA Level 4, focusing on communicative competence in academic and social contexts. It was conducted online through five sessions, including one orientation, four core training sessions based on the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) approach, and one evaluation session. The learning materials were adapted from Sahabatku Indonesia – BIPA 4, published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The outcomes demonstrated significant improvement in participants’ linguistic competence, reflected in higher evaluation scores and active engagement throughout the training. Additional outcomes included online media publications and the adoption of the developed modules as sustainable BIPA teaching materials at NEUST. Overall, this initiative represents an effort in Indonesian language diplomacy, contributing to the strengthening of academic mobility and intercultural collaboration across Southeast Asia.

Abstract

Health in older age is a crucial aspect in maintaining quality of life and individual independence. Seniors are susceptible to various degenerative diseases such as heart disease, vision impairment, and dementia, which can reduce their productivity and well-being. This community service activity aims to increase public awareness and knowledge, particularly among seniors and young adults, regarding the importance of maintaining heart, eye, and cognitive health through an educational approach and preventive health check-ups. The activity was held on October 18, 2025, at the HKBP Sudirman Church in Jakarta, with 100 participants. The activity involved three stages: (1) healthy heart exercise to improve cardiovascular fitness and function; (2) health education on heart disease prevention, eye health, and dementia prevention; and (3) health screening services, including eye exams, EKGs, and blood tests (blood sugar and cholesterol). The results of the activity demonstrated an increased understanding among participants of the importance of early detection and a healthy lifestyle. The examination results revealed that approximately 28% of participants had elevated blood sugar levels, and 22% had mild EKG abnormalities requiring medical follow-up. Furthermore, 30% of elderly participants experienced mild to moderate visual acuity impairment. The evaluation showed a 45% increase in participants' knowledge scores from pre- to post-test. This activity had a positive impact on raising public awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups and of preventing degenerative diseases through a healthy lifestyle, early detection, and ongoing care.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of financial technology in Indonesia has stimulated a surge of interest in digital investment. However, this progress has not been matched by a proportional improvement in financial literacy, resulting in the increasing prevalence of illegal investment schemes and unregulated online lending practices. Although national data show a sharp rise in the number of investors in 2021, the trend has declined steadily from 2022 to 2025, accompanied by fluctuating growth in illegal financial activities. This phenomenon indicates a critical imbalance between access to digital financial platforms and the ability of individuals to manage the associated risks responsibly. Most existing financial literacy initiatives focus primarily on economic rationality, overlooking the moral and spiritual dimensions that strongly influence decision-making in religious-based educational settings. Addressing this limitation, the present community service program was designed to integrate rational and religious approaches in developing ethical and prudent financial behavior among students of Pesantren Tahfizh Al-Qur’an Izzuddin Palembang. The implementation involved interactive lectures, case-based discussions, and simulations, evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments to measure participants’ learning progress. The results demonstrated a notable improvement in understanding digital financial risks and awareness of illegal investment practices after the intervention. This initiative underscores the significance of combining rational, educational, and religious perspectives to strengthen financial literacy resilience in the digital era, particularly within faith-based learning environments. The model developed through this program offers a sustainable approach to preventing illegal financial activities while fostering financially literate and ethically conscious youth.
