Abstract

This study addresses the critical phenomenon of leadership incompetence resulting from appointments based on popularity and personal proximity, examining the correspondence of the Prophet Muhammad as a historical model of meritocratic selection. The research objective is to identify selection criteria for envoys, including linguistic competence, cross-cultural experience, and integrity, and assess how prophetic practices can inform contemporary recruitment reform. A qualitative library-based methodology with a historical approach and triangulation of primary sources and secondary literature was employed. Thematic analysis of sirah manuscripts and variant reports reveals selection patterns emphasizing functional capability and the companions’ work ethic. Findings confirm that successful diplomatic missions relied on a synergy between technical competence and moral character among envoys. Recommendations include combining procedural merit mechanisms with character development programs and transparent selection processes to curb patronage. The study offers guidance for selection audits, publishing criteria, evidence-based evaluation, and local capacity building.

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic law in the Indonesian legal system is a complex issue involving the interaction between religious authorities, the state, and society. This research aims to analyze the dialectic between the theories of Receptio in Complexu (Islamic law applies automatically to Muslims) and Receptio a Contrario (Islamic law applies as long as it does not contradict custom) and its impact on the integration of Islamic law in the national legal framework. The research method used is library research with a theological-normative approach and contextual analysis, combining primary (legal texts, colonial documents) and secondary (journals, books) data. The results show that inconsistencies in the application of Islamic law, such as in the case of Bugis customary inheritance which contradicts the provisions of faraidh, reflect the tug-of-war between religious, customary and state authorities. The implications include legal uncertainty, regulatory dualism, and the potential for social disharmony. Islamic legal products such as the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) and MUI fatwas have been recognized, but their application remains influenced by the socio-cultural context. To create harmonious integration, a benefit-based approach (istislahi), regulatory harmonization, and the active role of Islamic organizations and community leaders are needed. This research provides academic and practical recommendations to strengthen an inclusive national legal system, and encourages further research on the integration model of Islamic law based on maqashid sharia and local wisdom within the framework of Pancasila.

Abstract

The issue of the relationship between revelation and reason has again become an important focus in contemporary exegetical studies along with the development of rational and scientific approaches to the Qur'an (Q.S. Al-'Alaq [96]: 1–5). This study aims to uncover the epistemological construction of Qur'anic exegesis that seeks to integrate revelation as a source of transcendental truth and reason as an interpretive instrument in understanding the divine message. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with library research methods through content and comparative analysis of classical and modern exegetical works such as Fakhruddin al-Razi, Fazlur Rahman, Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, Muhammad Syahrur, Quraish Shihab, and Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The results show that the integration of revelation and reason is the foundation for a scientific, religious, and humanistic exegetical paradigm. The novelty of this research lies in the attempt to formulate an integrative epistemological model of interpretation that methodologically synthesizes Seyyed Hossein Nasr's Scientia Sacra concept and Fazlur Rahman's Double Movement theory to build a rational and spiritual interpretation framework. Academically, this research recommends the development of an interpretation curriculum and methodology based on integrative epistemology so that Qur'anic interpretation functions not only as a spiritual source but also as a contextual and adaptive intellectual guide to the challenges of the modern era

Abstract

This study aims to explore the understanding and implementation of religious moderation values among converts (muallaf) in the indigenous Papuan community who continue their education at IAIN Sorong. The background of this research stems from the dynamics of religious life in the digital era, which requires society to adopt a moderate, open, and tolerant attitude in responding to diversity. This research employed a qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The participants included community members from Klalin 1 and Maibo Villages, Aimas District, Southwest Papua Province. The findings indicate that the understanding and practice of religious moderation among the muallaf community have been relatively well established. This is reflected in their mutual respect across religious differences, the tradition of visiting each other during major religious celebrations, and openness in social interactions while maintaining their respective faiths. Moreover, local customary values play a significant role as a medium for maintaining interreligious harmony. Thus, religious moderation in the muallaf villages of Papua can be understood as a perspective, attitude, and religious behavior that balances personal conviction with respect for others’ beliefs. These findings highlight that the practice of religious moderation has become an integral part of community life and serves as a crucial foundation for strengthening harmony, tolerance, and unity in Southwest Papua.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes in learning Fikih material on the Provisions of Makmum Masbuk through the application of the Role Play learning method assisted by Kahoot. The research subjects were students of class VII D MTs As'adiyah Uloe. This study used a classroom action research design (PTK) consisting of two cycles. Data collection was done through observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed that the application of the Kahoot-assisted Role Play learning method can significantly improve student learning outcomes. This is indicated by the increase in student learning outcomes from 60% in the pre-cycle, 80% in cycle I, and 100% in cycle II.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Jigsaw method to improve student learning outcomes in Akidah Akhlak learning in class IX B MTs As'adiyah Uloe. This type of research is a class action research (PTK) using a sequential design explanatory approach. The data collection methods used in this study are test, observation, and documentation methods. Data processing and analysis techniques using descriptive statistics by presenting data in the form of tables / graphs, calculating averages, and percentages using Ms. Excel. The research subjects in this study were class IX B students totaling 32 people with details of 13 men and 19 women. The results showed that the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle was 41%, cycle I was 63%, and cycle II was 100%. The percentage of non-completion of student learning outcomes in the pre-cycle was 59%, cycle I was 37%, and cycle II was 0%.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the various forms of Qur’anic reception at the Tahfidzul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School in Juranguluh, Kediri, using a qualitative approach informed by Hans Robert Jauss’s reception theory and Ahmad Rafiq’s typology of Qur’anic reception. Three main forms of reception are analyzed: (1) exegetical reception, manifested through thematic tafsir studies and the understanding of Qur’anic interpretive principles; (2) functional reception, reflected in spiritual routines such as Qur’an completion (khataman), riyāḍah arba‘īn, and the recitation of specific surahs as part of the pesantren’s spiritual and communal life; and (3) aesthetic reception, evident in the training of Qur’anic recitation (tilawah) and calligraphy as expressions of reverence for the sacred text’s beauty. The findings reveal that these forms of reception are integrated into the pesantren’s core curriculum, representing a vision of producing students who embody the Qur’an in recitation, meaning, and practice. Qur’anic reception in this context is not merely theoretical but deeply practical, forming a lived experience and value system within the pesantren. This study contributes significantly to the development of Qur’anic studies grounded in local contexts and affirms the pesantren as a vital living Qur’an space in Indonesian Muslim society.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze in depth the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values and their contribution to building Islamic character in students through the Gebyar Ramadhan (Ramadan Celebration) activities at SMP Negeri 1 Muara Badak. This study also aims to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the program. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, located at SMP Negeri 1 Muara Badak, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show three main findings. First, the implementation of PAI values is effectively integrated through the habit of collective worship (daily congregational prayers) which fosters discipline and obedience, as well as sharing programs (charity and social service) which instill social awareness and responsibility. Second, the mechanism of contribution of this program is through the acceleration of value internalization by utilizing the spiritual momentum of Ramadan and creating intensive collective practice-based learning (such as the Daily Practice Journal), which transforms moral knowing into moral action. Third, the main supporting factors are the commitment of school leaders and the synergy of teachers across subjects as role models, while significant inhibiting factors include suboptimal family support in monitoring follow-up at home and limited worship facilities. Overall, Gebyar Ramadhan proved to be an effective character laboratory.
