Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of economic growth, income distribution, and the Human Development Index (HDI) on poverty in Indonesia, both partially and simultaneously. The data used in this research is secondary data, comprising a total of 680 observations from 34 provinces in Indonesia over the period 2018-2022. The data analysis technique employed in this study is panel data regression. The results of this study indicate that, partially, economic growth and income distribution have significant effects on the poverty level in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Human Development Index (HDI) does not have a significant impact on poverty levels in Indonesia. Simultaneously, economic growth, income distribution, and the Human Development Index (HDI) together have a significant effect on poverty in Indonesia. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the government implement effective policies through progressive taxation, direct cash transfers to poor families, and social protection programs targeted specifically at those below the poverty line. Additionally, investment in education must be increased to ensure broader access and better-quality education for all segments of society.

Abstract

The unstoppable growth of fintech, accelerated by the pandemic, is reflected in the increasing financial inclusion and literacy rates in Indonesia, as observed by the OJK. P2P Lending has become one of the most popular fintech services, offering accessible and affordable loans to various segments of society. However, the ease of access has led to challenges, with many individuals, including teachers, facing the risks of over-indebtedness. This study investigates the role of debt literacy, financial management practices, and financial confidence in influencing over-indebtedness among teachers in Karawang Regency. Using a quantitative approach, data from 385 teachers were analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the complex relationships between variables, considering the influence of demographic factors. The findings reveal that debt literacy and financial management practices have no significant negative impact on over-indebtedness, while financial confidence has no significant positive impact.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the factors that cause Indonesia to fall into the middle-income trap category, as indicated by the manufacturing sector, education level and number of MSMEs. This research uses quantitative with error corection model methods. The data used is from 1997-2022. The data used consists of manufacturing value added, school enrollment rates, number of MSMEs and per capita income used as a middle-income trap proxy sourced from the World Bank, BPS and ukmindonesia.id. The results of data processing show that the manufacturing industry has a negative effect on the middle-income trap in both the long and short term. The direction of the variable relationship is in accordance with theory. An increase in manufacturing industry will reduce MIT. However, the level of education and the number of MSMEs have a positive influence on MIT because most of Indonesia's APS is dominated by a reasonable salary of 9-12 years and MSMEs are only able to absorb small-scale workers. Indonesia is expected to be expelled from MIT within 6 years or 2030.

Abstract

This study examines the structure–conduct–performance (SCP) framework and firm strategy in sustaining market dominance in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using secondary data from 78 FMCG companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The data were analyzed using SmartPLS with the CB-SEM method. The results indicate a statistically significant bidirectional causal relationship between market structure, firm behaviour, and firm performance, supporting the dynamic nature of the SCP framework. The Indonesian FMCG industry is characterized by a highly concentrated market structure, where dominant firms implement diversification and differentiation strategies to strengthen competitive advantage and reinforce market power, potentially leading to monopolistic tendencies within specific product segments. The discussion highlights that geographical diversification and domestic market expansion are effective strategic responses to global integration pressures, enabling firms to sustain performance while managing competitive intensity and regulatory risks. Abstract

Labor productivity in Indonesia has experienced steady growth but disparities remain and the level is still relatively low compared to neighboring ASEAN countries. This study analyzes the influence of education, health, and economic infrastructure on labor productivity using panel data from 33 provinces over the period 2010 to 2023. The analysis applies the Fixed Effect Model. The findings reveal that simultaneously, all three variables significantly impact labor productivity. However, when assessed individually, only health and economic infrastructure show a significant positive relationship while education has no statistically significant effect. These outcomes highlight the urgency of enhancing health services and expanding access to ICT, particularly in less-developed regions. At the same time, it suggest the need to refine educational policies by improving curriculum relevance to labor market demands and expanding vocational training programs to more effectively support productivity growth.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between economic growth, industrial growth, and carbon dioxide emissions in ASEAN countries over the period 2010–2020, with particular emphasis on the interaction between economic expansion and industrial structure. Using balanced panel data from nine ASEAN economies and employing panel regression techniques, the analysis evaluates both the direct and conditional effects of growth on environmental outcomes. The results indicate that economic growth and industrial growth each have a positive and statistically significant impact on carbon emissions. More importantly, the interaction term between economic growth and industrial growth is also positive and significant, suggesting that the environmental impact of GDP growth is amplified in economies experiencing stronger industrial expansion. These findings imply that economic growth in ASEAN remains closely linked to energy-intensive industrial activities, limiting progress toward emissions reduction. By explicitly modeling the interaction between growth and industrial structure, this study contributes to the environmental economics literature by providing a more nuanced understanding of the growth–emissions nexus in developing regional contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of silver-entrepreneurship on economic growth in 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2020 to 2024. The influence was analyzed using panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model Generalized Least Square (FEM-GLS) method. The results show that elderly who remain productive through entrepreneurship do not become an economic burden but contribute positively to regional economic growth. However, the increase in businesses involving paid workers in small-scale enterprises with low productivity tends to weaken growth due to low value-added production. These findings highlight the need for the government to support productive silver-entrepreneurs, for example, by providing business development loans for the elderly to help them run and expand their businesses. Additionally, local governments can implement mentoring programs for the elderly to identify business opportunities, increase worker productivity, and encourage business expansion.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Zakat, Infaq, and Alms (ZIS), corruption, and education on income inequality in Indonesia. Utilizing a quantitative approach with time-series data from 2011 to 2022, the research employs the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) framework to analyze both long-term and short-term dynamics. Findings indicate that ZIS and corruption exert a negative and significant impact on income inequality, whereas education shows a positive but insignificant effect. The study concludes that religious philanthropy and institutional integrity are pivotal in narrowing the economic gap. Policy implications suggest that the government should optimize zakat management systems and intensify anti-corruption measures to ensure more equitable income distribution. Additionally, strategic improvements in educational quality are essential to support sustainable and long-term economic equality.

Abstract

Sustainable development in D-8 countries remains limited by structural economic disparities and shifting political conditions. Using dynamic panel data from 2010–2019 with a GMM approach, this study evaluates how foreign direct investment, industrialization, de jure globalization, digitalization, economic growth, corruption control, and domestic credit shape SDG performance, with political constraints as a moderator. The results show that foreign investment, industrialization, globalization, and digitalization enhance SDGs, while domestic credit hinders them. Political constraints reduce the impact of foreign investment yet strengthen the role of economic growth. The findings underscore the need for political stability and disciplined credit management to support progress.

Abstract

Poverty in Indonesia remains a complex development challenge and tends to exhibit spatial clustering rather than a random distribution. In West Java Province, high population density and disparities in poverty levels across districts and cities underscore the importance of adopting a spatial perspective in poverty analysis. This study aims to identify global and local spatial dependence of poverty and to map poverty clusters in West Java Province. The analysis uses secondary data on district/city-level poverty rates in 2024 obtained from Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). Spatial analysis is conducted using Global Moran’s I to assess overall spatial autocorrelation and Local Indicators of Spatial Association (LISA) to identify local clusters and spatial outliers, employing a queen contiguity spatial weight matrix. The results indicate a significant positive spatial autocorrelation, confirming the existence of spatial clusters of both high and low poverty across the province. These findings highlight the strong spatial dimension of poverty in West Java and suggest that poverty alleviation policies should be designed using a region-based and spatially integrated approach to enhance policy effectiveness.
