Abstract

As part of the annual community service to help improve the school students' English skills, Technocrat Foreign Language School Tangerang conducted a community service in The Four State Vocational High School in Tangerang Regency, Banten. The English training emphasized improving the students' English communicative skills and their interest in practicing the language. The survey research, which succeeded in the training, indicated some important findings, such as the positive perceptions toward the English training, the perceived importance of English for the student's future careers, the importance of English subjects/courses in higher education as well as in employment. Specifically, the role of English in the hospitality, service, retail, and creative industry will be imperative. Of the four skills, speaking was deemed the most important skill to learn for employment. Concerning their future career, the students expected to have a non-English teaching career after graduating from college. The present study attempted to highlight the issue of the English training, potential employability, and the perceived important skill needed by the vocational high school graduates so that they can have more chances to work in the above industries. Further study should identifiy more skills specifically needed in the above industries so that the amount of unemployment from vocational high school graduates can be reduced.

Abstract

The practice of public administration in the life of the nation, state and society faces various obstacles that cause the implementation of service and welfare functions to be stalled. Strengthening Village Administration and Governance, especially in Tanjung Baru Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province, requires the quality of public services, which can be interpreted by comparing the views between the services received and the expectations of the services expected by the village community. In this connection, the poor bureaucratic service is no stranger to seeing and listening, and many formulations have been submitted for the implementation of government in the village. The New Public Service-Based Village Administration and Governance Strengthening Service is aimed at mapping the main problems faced in relation to public services. The method of implementing the activity is through joint lectures, student field practice and research conducted by observation techniques, literature studies and interviews with village officials and the community. Success in terms of public services cannot be separated from the level of understanding of vision between village officers related to their field of duty. Because improving the quality of human resources (HR) always gets priority as part of increasing employee development commitments. In conclusion, by including employees in village priority scale programs and training on the basics of village administration, leadership and the implementation of adaptive organizations are expected to increase village officials' mastery of good public service concepts.

Abstract

Osteoporosis is a disease characterised by a decrease in bone density, leading to the risk of fractures, especially in the elderly and post-menopausal women. Although it can be prevented and managed, many people are not aware of the importance of prevention and early detection of osteoporosis. This community service activity aims to increase community understanding and knowledge related to osteoporosis, as well as provide information on the prevention and management of the disease. This activity was carried out in Kereng Bangkirai village, involving people from various age groups, especially the elderly and post-menopausal women. Activities included counselling on the causes, symptoms, and prevention of osteoporosis, light exercise, and physical examination to detect osteoporosis risk. Evaluation showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge about osteoporosis after participating in this activity. Overall, this activity showed high enthusiasm for the material presented and triggered participants to lead a healthy lifestyle to prevent osteoporosis. This activity has a positive impact in increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining bone health, and is expected to be held on an ongoing basis to reach more individuals, especially those at high risk.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the marketing skills of Batik Rizqi Mantaran MSMEs through photography training using smartphones. The main problem faced by Batik Rizqi Mantaran is the challenge of marketing their batik products in the digital world. The natural dyes used in batik production provide ecological added value, but product marketing is still an obstacle. Through hands-on observation and practical training, the batik makers were taught photography and editing techniques using smartphones. The results showed a significant improvement in the batik makers' ability to produce attractive and high-quality visual content, which plays an important role in product promotion on social media. The training not only improved technical skills but also empowered the local economy by utilizing digital technology. Recommendations for follow-up research include further training in advanced marketing techniques, ongoing technical support, and collaboration with digital platforms to improve promotional effectiveness. This study recognizes the limitation of a small sample size, which requires further research for validation of these findings. Overall, the training had a significant positive impact on the skills and marketing of Rizqi Mantaran Batik MSME products.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has had a significant impact on various sectors, including education. The integration of technology in Quranic education offers great potential to enhance the quality of learning. This study aims to develop a workshop focusing on the implementation of the Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) method in Quranic instruction. The workshop is designed to equip educators with technical skills in utilizing educational technology, such as interactive tajwid simulators, audio tools, and automatic evaluation systems. Research indicates that the use of technology can significantly improve student motivation and the effectiveness of Quranic education. Akrami (2024) found that mobile-based applications effectively enhance student learning outcomes, while Hakimi (2024) emphasized the importance of flexible and interactive approaches in teaching. Through this workshop, educators are expected to apply technology effectively within Quranic curricula, thereby improving teaching quality and enriching students' learning experiences.

Abstract

With the right and creative strategy, pharmacy sales can increase. Two important elements are discussed: methods to increase sales and petty cash management. Pharmacies can increase sales in various ways by utilizing digital technology, offering discounts, and loyalty programs to encourage repeat purchases. Efficient petty cash management can facilitate cash flow management. Through staff training on petty cash management, its optimal use can be ensured. With the integration of sales enhancement strategies and effective petty cash management, profitability can be increased and good service can be provided to customers, thereby enabling competitiveness.

Abstract

Indonesia’s geographical position along the equator results in high annual rainfall, which in turn contributes to a significant frequency of lightning strikes. One affected area is Rukti Endah Village, located in the Seputih Mataram District of Central Lampung, which records a high incidence of lightning activity—up to 24 strikes in January alone and more than 100 thunderstorm days annually. Consequently, implementing effective lightning protection measures is essential to safeguard human life, buildings, and livestock housed in livestock pen. This community service initiative aims to assess the requirements for and implement a lightning protection system that adheres to established standards for livestock facilities in Rukti Endah Village. These facilities are jointly managed by the local community through the Koperasi Yufeed Berkah Mulia. The scope of activities includes designing a comprehensive lightning protection system based on IEC 62305 standards. The design comprises three main components: a lightning rod system, a low-voltage electrical protection system, and a grounding system. The lightning rod system features a 50 cm-long conductive electrode installed on the rooftop and connected to the grounding system using a 16 mm² grounding cable. The low-voltage protection system utilizes Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) rated for 220 volts, also connected to the grounding system with a 16 mm² conductor. The grounding system will employ a single-rod method, with one grounding rod installed adjacent to the livestock enclosure. This program will be implemented by a team of four lecturers, supported by six students, with the goal of enhancing safety and resilience against lightning-related hazards in the community.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of Karang Taruna youth in Pancoh Ecotourism Village in public speaking and graphic design as a strategy to promote local tourism potential. The main issues identified were the lack of communication and digital design skills, which hindered the village’s visibility in the digital sphere. The training was conducted through a participatory approach involving interactive presentations and hands-on practice using Canva. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ confidence in public speaking and their ability to create informative and visually appealing promotional materials. Beyond providing technical skills, the program fostered active youth involvement in sustainable ecotourism development. In the long term, the training is expected to lay a foundation for building adaptive human resources and creative village teams capable of implementing digital promotion strategies. Further training and continuous mentoring are recommended to maximize the impact on village tourism development.

Abstract

The two main challenges to food security in Indonesia relate to the availability and safety of food, in the sense that hazardous materials do not contaminate it. Availability can be overcome with semi-subsistence measures, i.e., people produce some of their food for household needs by utilizing the home-yard to reduce expenditure. Meanwhile, safe food can be obtained by avoiding additives/synthesized ingredients and replacing them with natural ingredients. The community service (PKM) aims to socialize utilizing home-yard, healthy food, and natural coloring ingredients that contain antioxidants when making cupcakes. The coloring material was extracted from telang flower and dayak onion, which are local weeds. The PKM results showed that 80% of participants were motivated to utilize their home-yard to grow food, and 53% were motivated to raise livestock and fish. Healthy food socialization improved the understanding of all participants (100%) on the concept of nutritious, balanced, healthy, and safe food (B2SA) as an improvement on the old idea of four healthy, five perfect. All participants (100%) stated that they intend to make their cupcakes at home after seeing that making them is not difficult, the equipment is simple, the ingredients are not expensive, and the time required is not much.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology requires educational institutions, including Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM), to innovate in improving the quality of learning and fostering student creativity. PKBM Bangkit Kota Semarang as a non-formal educational institution still faces obstacles in the form of low learning motivation and limited technology-based learning media. This community service activity aims to design and implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology as an innovative media to support the learning process and encourage the creativity of Package C students. The implementation method includes identifying partner needs, designing and developing AI media, training and mentoring, implementing in class, and monitoring and evaluation. The results of the community service show that AI-based learning media has succeeded in increasing learning participation, facilitating access to materials, encouraging independent learning, and receiving positive responses from tutors and students. These findings demonstrate that the application of AI in PKBM has the potential to be an innovative solution for strengthening the quality of non-formal education in the digital era.
