Abstract

This study aimed to develop science learning media based on scientific literacy using the Anyflip flipbook platform for elementary school students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants were 33 fifth-grade students from a public elementary school in Berastagi, Indonesia. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The results showed that the developed media was highly feasible, indicated by positive student responses with an average score of 87.27% in the very good category. The effectiveness test demonstrated an improvement in learning outcomes, with average scores increasing from 67.12 in the pre-test to 84.36 in the post-test. The N-Gain analysis showed that 24.24% of students were in the high category, 66.67% in the medium category, and 9.09% in the low category. These findings indicate that flipbook-based science learning media effectively improves students’ conceptual understanding, engagement, and scientific literacy in elementary science learning.

Abstract

The culture of the pesantren is a living value system and plays an important role in the formation of the character of the students. This study aims to analyze the role of pesantren culture in shaping the character education of students at the Al-Anam Cianjur Islamic Boarding School. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation. The research informants included kyai, ustadz, pesantren administrators, and students. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The validity of the data is maintained through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study show that the pesantren culture at Al-Anam Islamic Boarding School, which includes daily discipline, ta'dzim attitude towards teachers, mutual cooperation, simplicity, independence, and the tradition of recitation of the yellow book, plays a significant role in shaping the character of students. The character values formed include sincerity, responsibility, discipline, humility, independence, tolerance, and honesty. The culture of pesantren has proven to be an effective character education system because these values are internalized through example, habituation, and religious boarding life. This study recommends strengthening the culture of pesantren as a model of Islamic character education that is relevant to the challenges of modern education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the efforts of teachers and the principal in preventing bullying at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) 10 Layung, Aceh Barat Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The informants consisted of the school principal, classroom teacher, and three students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that bullying cases at MI 10 Layung are relatively low and continue to decline. The principal emphasizes direct guidance for both perpetrators and victims, as well as involving parents in more serious cases. Classroom teachers handle minor incidents through quick and consistent educational reprimands, including the strategy of calling students by their parents’ names to create a deterrent effect. Observations support the interview results, indicating that the school environment is safe, student interactions are positive, and teachers actively supervise and guide students. The study concludes that the synergy among the principal, teachers, students, and parents plays an essential role in creating a conducive learning environment and preventing bullying in primary schools.

Abstract

This article examines how the KAAN fighter jet procurement deepened defense relations between Indonesia and Türkiye through defense diplomacy. Using Lech Drab’s framework of defense diplomacy, the article argues that the KAAN case should be understood not merely as a procurement decision, but as a form of strategic engagement that elevated bilateral defense relations to a more intensive and institutionalized level. Methodologically, the study applies a qualitative single case study design, with data collected through a structured desk review of official statements, policy documents, company releases, academic works, and reputable news reports, and analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings show that the KAAN procurement deepened Indonesia-Türkiye defense relations through three connected mechanisms: the strengthening of strategic trust, the expansion of defense-industrial cooperation, and the enhancement of Indonesia’s defense capability. More broadly, the article finds that Indonesia’s cooperation with Türkiye reflects an effort to build a stable long-term defense relationship that can widen Indonesia’s strategic influence while preserving its autonomy amid great-power competition. The case also confirms that defense diplomacy remains a practical means through which middle powers can simultaneously build confidence, strengthen military capability, and develop the defense industry. In this sense, the KAAN case demonstrates the growing sophistication of defense diplomacy among middle powers. Lastly, this study is limited to a single qualitative case and does not assess the long-term operational outcomes of the KAAN program or compare it systematically with Indonesia’s other procurement pathways.
