Abstract

Sungai Pitung Village, Barito Kuala Regency, is classified as a developed village based on the Village Development Index, yet empirically faces structural problems. Economic dependence on tidal rice monoculture, rice husk waste openly burned, and underutilized vacant land are the main issues. The social project of the Jerami Peduli Team employed a Participatory Rural Appraisal approach with two main interventions: processing rice husk waste into liquid smoke using pyrolysis technology, and cultivating loofah on vacant land. Cost-benefit analysis shows the program is economically feasible with positive net benefits. Beyond financial benefits, the program enhances community capacity, environmental awareness, and creates sustainable productive village assets. This project offers an adaptive and applicable model for wetland-based village empowerment.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the operational performance and distribution of the Sido Subur Farmers Group in Butuh Hamlet, which faces challenges such as difficulty finding suppliers, low crop prices, and plant virus attacks such as the yellow virus on chilies and Patek. This program was chosen as a solution to strengthen farmers' capacity through teamwork-based learning and training with a healthy competitive approach. Implementation methods included workshops, group discussions, and hands-on field practice related to crop management and distribution strategies. The results demonstrated an increase in farmers' understanding and skills in managing their farms, marketing their crops, and building innovation through more effective collaboration. This program is important because it increases the efficiency of farmer groups, strengthens solidarity among members, and supports sustainable community welfare.

Abstract

The low level of business legality ownership among MSMEs in Curahmalang Village has limited their access to empowerment and financing programs. This community service activity aimed to build legal business identity through the registration of Business Identification Numbers (NIB). The methods included initial identification and education of MSME actors, technical assistance in registering through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, and coordination and formal distribution of NIB documents at the village hall. The results indicate an increase in the number of MSMEs obtaining NIB as well as improved awareness and understanding of business legality. Qualitatively, the activity enhanced digital literacy and self-confidence among MSME actors. Therefore, direct and participatory assistance proved effective in accelerating business formalization and strengthening the village’s economic foundation sustainably.

Abstract

This community service program enhanced the pedagogical and professional competencies of non-formal education tutors, especially those at Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM), to meet 21st-century learning demands. Because PKBM tutors must go beyond content mastery, the program emphasized communicative, reflective, and contextually relevant teaching. Using a participatory-reflective approach, it was delivered through an interactive educational talk show, guided discussions, and collective reflection at Hotel Grand Amira, Surakarta. Implementation followed three stages: preparation, execution, and reflection–evaluation. Results showed improved understanding of active learning principles, stronger reflective awareness in teaching practice, and increased motivation to adopt innovative and humanistic strategies. The activity also strengthened tutors’ professional networks and fostered a culture of sharing best practices within the PKBM environment. Overall, the educational talk show model is an effective and sustainable alternative for developing non-formal tutor competencies and supporting quality learning services.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, with a considerable number of cases reported. A paucity of public literacy regarding the symptoms, transmission, and prevention of TB has the potential to impede efforts to eradicate the disease. This community service activity was designed to provide education and assess the public's knowledge about tuberculosis during Car Free Day in Surakarta. The methodology entailed a combination of face-to-face education, utilizing leaflets and direct interaction, followed by an evaluation through a questionnaire containing nine questions, including definition, etiology, symptoms, prevention, examination, duration of treatment, and contact investigation of tuberculosis. A total of 22 respondents participated in this activity. The results indicated that the majority of respondents demonstrated a high level of knowledge regarding the definition of TB (90.9%), its etiology (86.4%), proper cough etiquette (95.5%), and the duration of treatment (95.5%). However, the comprehension of tuberculosis symptoms in children (45.5%), the BCG vaccination (54.5%), and the contact investigation (18.2%) remained inadequate, highlighting the need for targeted educational interventions to improve understanding in these critical areas. The implementation of health education in public spaces is of paramount importance and must be carried out in a continuous manner to effectively increase public awareness regarding the prevention and early detection of tuberculosis.
