Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease requiring long-term management and is often accompanied by psychological problems such as stress and anxiety. Poor mental health can affect treatment adherence and reduce patients’ quality of life. Family plays a vital role as the primary support system in helping individuals adapt to chronic conditions. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the role of family in supporting the mental health of patients with hypertension. The program was conducted in Plombokan Subdistrict, Semarang City, on November 26–27, 2025, involving 45 participants, including patients and their family members aged from middle adulthood to pre-elderly. Methods used were health education, interactive discussions, and family counseling. Evaluation was conducted descriptively by measuring family knowledge and patients’ mental health before and after the intervention. Results showed increased family knowledge and awareness, along with reduced mild stress and anxiety among patients. A family-based approach is effective as a promotive and preventive community strategy.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Quranic illiteracy among the elderly remains an unresolved challenge in Indonesia. Inappropriate teaching methods and inadequate instruction result in lagging and inefficient use of time in reading and writing the Quran. The goal of this activity is to eradicate Quranic illiteracy among the elderly, especially at Oemah Quran Soediyono, Sragen. The methods used in the activity include community education and training, starting from planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the activity show that the Albirru learning method is proven to be effective, flexible, enjoyable, and oriented towards rapid results. Supporting factors for this program include the availability of adequate facilities and infrastructure with comfortable classrooms, digital media, and standard Quranic manuscripts. While inhibiting factors include frequent participant fatigue and decreased attendance. The resulting impact is that after one month, 85% of students had increased Quranic literacy, self-confidence, and involvement in mosque activities, concluding that this activity was successful.

Abstract

This activity aims to create a healthy and high-quality living environment through planning simple household sanitation systems to improve the welfare and quality of life of the people in Dawuhan Village, Wanayasa District, Banjarnegara Regency. The main challenge faced during this activity is that the community in Dawuhan Village tends to be less concerned about health related to sanitation for several reasons. First, the lack of knowledge and awareness about the importance of having proper latrines and sanitation causes them to be unaware of the negative impacts on health, such as the risk of waterborne diseases or contamination of the environment. The methods used in this community service program include surveys, observations, socialization/training, assistance, monitoring, and evaluation. The pre-test results showed an average score of 65.00, while the post-test results showed an average score of 85.33. The post-test results indicate an increase after providing education related to healthy and environmentally conscious household sanitation.

Abstract

This community service program aims to optimize new students' mastery of reference management using IEEE Style through training on the use of Mendeley Reference Manager. The activity involved three stages: preparation (identifying student needs and developing training modules), implementation (presentation of material, demonstration of Mendeley usage, and hands-on practice of IEEE Style reference management and citations), and evaluation (pre- and post-tests to measure understanding and participant response questionnaires). The results showed a significant improvement in new students' ability to manage references and apply IEEE Style, with an average post-test score 35% higher than the pre-test, and a participant satisfaction rate of 88% with the applicable and interactive training method. Therefore, Mendeley training is effective as a medium for optimizing new students' mastery of IEEE-standard reference management.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted at SD Al Hilaal 5 Kranjang to address limited technological facilities and students’ lack of experience in logical and systematic thinking activities. As a solution, the service team implemented the unplugged coding method, which introduces programming concepts without using computers through paper-based activities that are appropriate for the characteristics of elementary school students. The program was carried out over two days and involved 151 students from grades 1 to 6. The first day focused on students in grades 1–3 through basic logic activities, sequential instructions, and simple patterns. The second day was intended for students in grades 4–6 through a color multiplication coding activity. The implementation methods included socialization, training, technology application, mentoring, evaluation, and program sustainability. The results showed an improvement in students’ computational thinking skills across all assessed aspects. The highest increase was found in basic logical understanding, reaching 27%. These findings indicate that unplugged coding is effective, contextual, and sustainable for elementary school students.
