Abstract

Occupation in the agriculture sector is one of the contributors to health problems, one of which is cancer. The general treatment that can be given to cancer patients is chemotherapy. However, the side effects of chemotherapy can interfere with daily activities and cause feelings of helplessness. This condition influences changes in the self-concept of farmers. The purpose of this study is to identify the self-concept of farmers undergoing chemotherapy at Level III Baladhika Husada Hospital, Jember Regency. This study used a descriptive quantitative design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total of 58 respondents. The data collection was conducted using a self-concept questionnaire. The data analysis technique used univariate analysis. The results of this study indicate that more than half of the farmers had a negative self-concept as many as 31 people (53.4%). Based on the evaluation of indicators, 31 people (53.4%) showed weak self-identity, 34 people (58.6%) had negative body image, 37 people (63.8%) had negative self-ideals, 33 people had low self-esteem (56.9%), and the disturbed role of 33 people (56.9%). The majority of farmers had a negative self-concept, which can be caused by several factors, such as changes in body condition, roles in the family, and changes in social relations. This study can be a basis for nurses to improve nursing practice by providing support and motivation to patients undergoing chemotherapy during the treatment process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the leadership orientations of clinical chief nurses. In the descriptive study, the G-Power 3.1.9.4 program was used to calculate the sample size and the number of people planned to be included in the study was calculated as 50 with 5% error and 95% power. In this direction, all (50) clinical nurses working in a university hospital between 10.05.2023 and 30.05.2023 will form the study sample group. The data of the study will be collected from individuals with a socio-demographic "Leadership Orientation Questionnaire" prepared by the researchers. 84.6% of the participants were female and 15.4% were male. While 89.7% of the participants are married, 10.3% are single. While 56.4% of them are graduates, 43.6% of them are undergraduates. 46.2% of the participants have been in management for 0-5 years, 28.2% for 10 years and above, and 25.6% for 5-10 years. While the participants' human-oriented leadership behavior score average was 7.79, the minimum score was 3 and the maximum score was 12. While the task-oriented behavior average score was 12.62, the minimum score was 4 and the maximum score was 19. While the leadership orientation total score average was 20.41, the minimum score was 7, and the maximum score was 27. As a result of this study, there is no significant difference between the sub-dimensions of the leadership orientation scale and age, gender, marital status, educational status, duration of work in the profession, and management process. Therefore, extra pieces of training should be planned for responsible nurses, taking into account clinical leadership. There are few studies on this subject in the literature. It is recommended to increase the studies.

Abstract

No studies have analyzed the path of predicting the experience of cognitive dysfunction by considering various characteristics in elderly, especially focusing on sleep duration. Thus, this study aimed to predict the experience of cognitive dysfunction according to sleep duration in older individuals. This cross-sectional study used data from 3,361 older individuals from the 2021 Community Health Survey (CHS). Participants were included in two groups according to their experience of cognitive dysfunction (yes or no). Sleep duration was categorized into the following three groups: lack of sleep(<6h), normal sleep (6 to <10h), and oversleep (≥10h). Decision tree and logistic regression analyses were used to identify factors related to cognitive dysfunction in elderly. According to the decision model, those who slept for ≥10h had depression and experienced the highest rate (89.2%)of cognitive dysfunction. In contrast, people aged 65-74 years with a lack of sleep or average sleep duration and low stress levels were the least likely to experience cognitive dysfunction (63.0%). Older individuals who were asleep for ≥10h and had depression showed the highest rate of cognitive dysfunction. Community-based programs to improve cognition in the elderly or healthcare providers caring for the elderly need to continuously assess and consider their age, sleep time, and depression to prevent and manage cognition dysfunction in elderly.

Abstract

Nurses with an altruistic attitude should prioritize the patients' interests over their own and strive to care for the welfare of others. This significantly affects the level of workplace violence among nurses, where violence in the workplace is a prevalent issue in the nurses' work environment. This research aims to analyze the relationship between nurses' altruism and the level of workplace violence among nurses in hospitals in the agro-industrial area of Jember district. This study employs a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, resulting in a sample of 178 nurses. Data collection involved an altruism scale questionnaire and a workplace violence questionnaire. The research utilizes the Kendall Tau-C test. The research results revealed that 84.8% of respondents exhibited a high level of altruism, and 64.6% of respondents displayed a low level of workplace violence. Both variables show a p-value of 0.008 (p-value < 0.05), indicating a relationship between nurses' altruism and the level of workplace violence. This study shows a negative correlation value of r = -0.159, indicating a weak correlation. The lower the nurses' altruism attitude, the higher the level of workplace violence among them. The nurses' altruism attitude significantly influences patient assessment; the better the patient assessment provided by nurses, the lower the occurrence of conflicts.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) in children is one of the causes of child mortality. Children and toddlers are very susceptible to exposure to tuberculosis germs, especially if there is a family that is confirmed to have Tuberculosis (TB) bacteriological notification. The purpose of this study was to analyze the poverty rate, active integrated healthcare center (Posyandu), and BCG Immunization related to Child TB Cases in Indonesia. The study design that was used is an ecological study approach (aggregate study) sourced from the 2019 Indonesian Health Profile data. Bivariate analysis was conducted using a scatter plot and Pearson correlation test. The results showed that the disparity in the percentage of Tuberculosis (TB) incidence in children was very high at 136.3% in West Java and the lowest in Aceh province at 9.6%. The results of the scatter plot and bivariate test showed that the greater the number of poverty rates, there is a tendency for the incidence of TB in children to be high, the more integrated healthcare center (Posyandu) active in an area, the higher the TB incidence in children, and the more children being immunized with BCG, the cases of Tuberculosis (TB) in children are also increasing. It was concluded that the poverty rate and active integrated healthcare center (Posyandu) had a positive relationship, while BCG immunization had a negative relationship with the incidence of Tuberculosis (TB) in children. It is recommended that the government develop special policies on target areas with the highest poverty rates and increase the activity of integrated healthcare center (Posyandu) in areas where the achievement of child Tuberculosis (TB) is still low, as well as increasing BCG immunization in areas with the most Tuberculosis (TB) cases in children to break the chain of transmission in the future.

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy, occurring at the age of 15-19 years, is a global public health problem with negative impacts for both mother and baby. The purpose of the study is to analyze the efforts that have been made in various countries in dealing with the impact of adolescent pregnancy to obtain strategies and recommendations that have the potential to create positive changes in handling the problem of adolescent pregnancy globally. This research method uses a literature review. The literature search process carried out in this literature review uses the database Scopus with a range of publication years 2019-2023. The search was conducted using several keywords "Teenage pregnancy" AND "impact". The findings of 10 journals show that teenage pregnancy has significant health and social impacts, including the risk of obstetric complications, high rates of maternal and infant mortality, and long-term consequences for mother and child. Factors such as low access to education, lack of knowledge about reproductive health, peer influence, and family problems trigger teenage pregnancy. The importance of a holistic approach involving collaboration between government, religious leaders, families, and educational institutions to prevent teenage pregnancy, increase knowledge of sexual education, and form positive, preventive attitudes needs to be done to reduce the risks and adverse effects associated with teenage pregnancy.

Abstract

Farmers often experience psychosocial problems caused by stress due to crop failures and a low economy. Psychosocial issues can also occur due to constraints experienced by farmers, such as weather changes, large imports of materials, and decreased prices for food grown due to abundant crop yields. This study aims to discover the psychosocial problems in farmers caused by stress due to crop failure and a low economy. This study uses the literature review method. The search was carried out based on three databases: Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Some of the psychosocial problems that can occur in farmers include anxiety, fatigue, loss of interest in usual activities, difficulty sleeping, and changes in body weight. Farmers can also feel lonely and isolated because they tend to do their work on the farm. In addition, farmers can also experience stress due to social pressure from the surrounding community, which requires them to be successful in farming. This can affect the mental health of farmers and exacerbate pre-existing psychosocial conditions. Farmers who work in agriculture have many economic and psychosocial risks. Among other things, farmers can be at risk of experiencing crop failure, which can cause various things. Therefore, farmers need to know how to deal with crop failure, how to prevent it, and how to cope with stress during crop failure as a first step to dealing with the risk of psychosocial disturbances in farmers due to crop failure.

Abstract

Burnout causes both physical and psychosocial problems. Nurses who experience burnout are more likely to underperform, compromise professional quality standards, engage in unethical practices, neglect their patients, work reluctantly, suffer from low job satisfaction, and consider quitting. Emotional intelligence is one’s ability to manage one's emotions. Emotional intelligence improves psychological health. This cross-sectional and descriptive study investigated the effect of emotional intelligence on burnout and fear of COVID-19. The research was conducted between March and July 2021. The sample consisted of 110 nurses. Data were collected using a personal information form, the Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS), the Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S), and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Participants had high EIS, FCV-19S, and MBI scores. Participants who had received training in emotional intelligence before had a significantly higher median EIS score than those who had not (p<0.05). Moreover, participants who had received training in emotional intelligence before had substantially lower median MBI “emotional exhaustion” and “depersonalization” subscale scores than those who had not (p<0.05). There was a negative correlation between EIS and MBI scores, suggesting that the higher the emotional intelligence, the lower the burnout levels (p<0.05). However, there was no correlation between EIS and FCV-19S scores (p>0.05). Nurses with high emotional intelligence levels are less likely to experience burnout. Authorities should train nurses in emotional intelligence to help them cope with the challenges of possible epidemics, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Mental health is one of the negative behaviors in teenagers such as bullying. Bullying can cause teenagers to become anxious, depressed, sleep disorders, angry, and at risk of suicide. To find out this, developing an instrument for positive adolescent behavior in preventing bullying is necessary. This research aims to test the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. Questionnaire Positive Behavior Support Quality of Life Questionnaire (PBSQLQ) in Indonesian. The method used is testing a questionnaire PBSQLQ in Indonesian with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional design. The sample was 30 teenagers living in Malang Regency using an incidental sampling technique. PBSQLQ results in Indonesian have five indicators, namely health and safety (Cronbach alpha = 0.961), self-advocacy (Cronbach alpha = 0.831), social relationships (Cronbach alpha = 0.852), productive activities (Cronbach alpha = 0.741), and community participation (Cronbach alpha = 0.755). The validity test results of all indicator questions were declared valid. Analysis of questionnaires about positive behavior in preventing bullying in teenagers using PBSQLQ in Indonesian can be used as a measuring tool for mental health research in teenagers due to bullying. So, this questionnaire can be used as an indicator of the positive behavior of teenagers in preventing bullying, especially on the impact on mental health in teenagers. This research concludes that the PBSQLQ in Indonesian has a valid value for each question per indicator and has a reliable or consistent value as a tool for measuring positive behavior in preventing bullying in teenagers.
