Abstract

The aim of this research was to increase the quality of students’ statements on procedural dimension through Project Based Learning in grade X IPS 2 SMA N 3 Surakarta academic year 2014/2015 on ecosystem chapter. This research was class action research in two cycles each. The primary data was taken through direct observation, meanwhile the secondary data was taken through interviews and documentation. The data was validated through triangulation method and analyzed through qualitative descriptive. The students’ statements were transcripted then grouped in dimension of knowledge on factual, conceptual, procedural and metacognition. The statements on procedural dimension were categorized based on order thinking skill of Bloom’s Taxonomy revised then counted in each order. The statements on factual, conceptual and metacognition dimension was used as supplemental data. The results of this research were: 1) the implementation of PJBL increased the quality of students’ statements on procedural dimension 2) increasing on the quality of students’ statements on procedural dimension were observed in each cycle 3) the quantity of students’ statements on procedural dimension in the pre-cycle was 22, which were 19 statements on procedural C1 and 3 statements on procedural C2, in the first cycle was 60, which were 18 statements on procedural C1, 19 statements on procedural C2, 2 statements on procedural C4, 14 statements on procedural C5 and 7 statements on procedural C6, in the second cycle was 94, which were 23 statements on procedural C1, 19 statements on procedural C2, 2 statements on procedural C5 and 50 statements on procedural C6..Keywords: students’ statements, project based learning

Abstract

Untuk menghasilkan tanaman haploid ganda yang bersifat homozigot dan penting dalam pemuliaan tanaman. Penggunaan tahap perkembangan polen yang tepat menjadi faktor penting untuk efisiensi induksi embriogenesis mikrospora. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan induksi embriogenesis mikrospora dengan mengamati karakter spikelet dan pengaruh nya terhadap potensi embriogenesis mikrospora padi varietas Fatmawati dan Ciherang melalui cekaman starvasi dan suhu tinggi. Malai padi yang masih tertutup daun pelindung dipanen dan disimpan pada suhu 4oC selama 4 hari sebagai praperlakuan. Tahap perkembangan polen diamati menggunakan mikroskop dengan menggerus antera segar pada gelas benda yang telah ditetesi medium B. Antera diisolasi dari spikelet dengan memotong sepertiga bagian dari dasar dan dikultur dalam medium B pada suhu 33oC selama 4 hari. Persentase mikrospora yang embriogenik dihitung dari mikrospora yang tumpah. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa spikelet “muda” yang tampak transparan dengan warna putih kehijauan memiliki populasi polen pada tahapan uninukleat tengah hingga akhir atau vacuolated microspore, sedangkan spikelet “tua” yang berwarna lebih hijau dan tebal memiliki lebih banyak polen dewasa yang ditandai dengan warna gelap. Pada kedua varietas, persentase mikrospora embriogenik, yang memiliki diameter lebih besar dan menunjukkan fragmentasi sitoplasma, dihasilkan lebih tinggi oleh spikelet “muda” dibandingkan spikelet “tua” yaitu 58,31% dan 35, 23% untuk IR 23, sedangkan Fatmawati yaitu 75,67% dan 34,64%. Diameter mikrospora embriogenik yaitu sekitar 50 µm sedangkan mikrospora non embriogenik 30 µm.

Abstract

Inquiry based learning (IBL) has become a prominent learning model in science educational reform in all countries. This research is a comparative studies which aims to analyse the practices of inquiry based learning in the science class of one Junior High School (JHS) in Thailand and Indonesia as part of the Sea-Teacher Project conducted by SEAMEO. The subjects were selected by convenience sampling, teachers and students grade 1, 2, and 3 of Chiang Rai Municipality School 6, also teacher and VIII-F students’ of Junior High School 4 Surakarta. Data were collected by document analysis of science curriculum, syllabus, lesson plans, and assessment; classroom observations, field notes, photo, video recordings; and interviews to teachers. The research confirmed that IBL has been adopted in the lower secondary science curriculum in both countries. Teachers have perception that science is about process, value, and product. Science is also about conservation and human existence. Syllabus and lesson plans of both school have followed the steps of IBL. Science learning activities show that both schools are in the same inquiry level, structured inquiry. Assessment of science learning is dominated by conceptual knowledge dimension, with different cognitive dimension processes. Thailand school has a higher level C3 (apply), while Indonesia is dominated by C1 (recall).

Abstract

Masalah kesehatan reproduksi banyak dialami remaja, khususnya siswa SMA, seperti kehamilan yang tidak dikehendaki, aborsi, penyakit menular seksual, dan lain-lain. Permasalahan tersebut umumnya muncul dari ketidaktahuan siswa terhadap perkembangan fisik yang dialaminya ketika menginjak masa remaja, sedangkan orang tua dan guru tidak membahas hal tersebut karena masih dianggap tabu. Kenyataan ini membuat remaja berusaha mencari informasi tentang seksualitas dari sumber yang belum tentu benar, yang akhirnya membawa mereka pada tindakan yang salah. Oleh sebab itu, penyebaran informasi kesehatan kepada remaja harus diupayakan secara  tepat guna, agar dapat memberikan informasi yang benar. Salah satu upaya yang dianggap efektif terutama adalah perluasan informasi melalui  institusi pendidikan yang paling dekat dengan siswa, yaitu  sekolah, khususnya pada pembelajaran biologi. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah mengintegrasikan pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi pada pembelajaran biologi di SMA, khususnya melalui penerapan kurikulum 2013. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah  kesadaran dan kepedulian terhadap kesehatan reproduksi, sehingga  remaja dapat  bertindak dengan bijaksana.  Integrasi pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi pada pembelajaran biologi di SMA  dibahas secara mendalam pada makalah ini, dan disesuaikan penerapannya dengan kurikulum 2013.  Kata Kunci: pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi, pembelajaran biologi SMA, kurikulum 2013

Abstract

This study aims to determine the comparison learning outcomes digestive system material in reciprocal teaching learning model used game smart case with not used game smart case students SMA Negeri 1 Barru. The sample in this research is the students of class XI MIA 4 as experiment class 1 and class XI MIA 7 as experiment class 2 which amounts to 70 students obtained by using simple purposive sampling technique. This research uses quasi experimental research design pretest-posttest non equivalen comparison group design. The cognitive learning outcomes were measured using a multiple choice test of 30 numbers and a description test of 5 numbers on the dietary material of the digestive system. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive statistic and inferential statistic using paired sample anacova test with significance level 0,05. The result of t test statistic for students' cognitive learning result is 0,004 means Ho is rejected and H1 accepted so that it can be concluded that there is a comparison learning outcomes digestive system material in reciprocal teaching learning model used game smart case with not used game smart case students.

Abstract

Tobacco plant has high value and strongly sensitive to physical and chemical conditions of soil condition. One alternative to increase tobacco production is modify the soil using biochar accompanied with other organic materials such as fertilizer. This research aimed to determine the best formulation on addition of biochar to the yield of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) plants var. K326. The study was conducted in Balen Subdistrict, Bojonegoro District, East Java, Indonesia with Randomized Block Design consisting of 5 treatments. Prior aplication the biochar was formulated with compost, OCF (Organic Compound Fertilizer), and agricultural waste. The formulation is intended to allow biochar having adequate nutrient content to increase tobacco yield. Biochar treatment formulated with OCF gave 45,8 % higher of tobacco yield than the control by 1,084 ton ha-1 and 0,497 ton ha-1 respectively.

Abstract

Penelitian untuk mengkaji kondisi perairan zona littoral  danau Rawa Pening telah dilakukan pada tanggal 5 Juni hingga 28 Agustus 2012. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami kondisi lingkungan zona littoral perairan danau Rawa Pening ditinjau dari kondisi fisiografi dan kondisi fisiko-kimia perairan. Penelitian dirancang dalam bentuk observasi. Penelitian dilakukan pada delapan stasiun yang ditetapkan berdasarkan keragaman kondisi lingkungan perairan yang ada. Pengambilan data dilakukan setiap dua bulan sekali selama tiga  kali. Data yang diambil meliputi kondisi fisiografi dan parameter-parameter fisiko-kimia perairan. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kondisi fisiografi dan fisiko-kimia zona littoral danau Rawa Pening relatif sama pada semua stasiun penelitian. Zona littoral danau Rawa Pening memiliki topografi datar hingga landai, tidak ada pepohonan besar sebagai naungan dan berbatasan dengan lahan tegalan, sawah atau permukiman. Temperatur air hangat dengan warna coklat keruh hingga jernih, ph tergolong netral, kandungan oksigen relatif tinggi, arus sangat lambat, substart dasar berupa lumpur dengan kedalaman relatif dangkal.  Kata kunci : kondisi fisiografi, fisiko-kimia, zona littoral, Rawa Pening.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari proses pembuatan POC (Pupuk Organik Cair) dari serasah lamun (seagrass) dan menguji kadar NPK-nya dengan variasi lama fermentasi 5, 10, 15, 20, dan 25 hari. Lamun merupakan salah satu sumberdaya pesisir Indonesia yang bernilai ekologis dan ekonomis, tetapi kurang dikenal oleh masyarakat. Indonesia memiliki kekayaan spesies yang tinggi, terdapat 13 spesies lamun yang tergolong dalam 7 genus. Serasah lamun diperoleh dari Pantai Tawang dan Pantai Pidakan Pacitan. Serasah lamun mengandung berbagai nutrisi yang berguna untuk pertumbuhan tanaman. Pupuk organik cair selain dapat memperbaiki sifat fisik, kimia, dan biologi tanah, juga membantu meningkatkan produksi dan kualitas tanaman, serta mengurangi penggunaan pupuk kimia. Pupuk organik cair mengandung unsur-unsur hara yang dibutuhkan untuk pertumbuhan, perkembangan, dan kesehatan tanaman. Unsur-unsur hara tersebut antara lain: nitrogen (N), untuk pertumbuhan tunas, batang dan daun; fosfor (P), untuk merangsang pertumbuhan akar, buah, dan biji; dan kalium (K), untuk meningkatkan ketahanan tanaman terhadap serangan hama dan penyakit. Pupuk organik cair juga lebih cepat diserap tanaman dibandingkan dengan pupuk alam yang lain (pupuk kandang dan kompos). Pengujian N total menggunakan metode Kjeldahl, P dalam Phospat dengan Spektrofotometri UV-Vis, dan K menggunakan metode SSA-nyala. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, lama fermentasi mempengaruhi kadar N, P, dan K yang terkandung dalam pupuk organik cair. Kadar N, P, dan K tertinggi diperoleh pada lama fermentasi 20 hari dengan kadar N total sebesar 826,32 ppm, P dalam Phospat sebesar 38,16 ppm, dan K sebesar 871,52. Serasah lamun berpotensi sebagai pupuk organik cair, tetapi dalam pemanfaatannya harus memperhatikan ketersediaan serasah lamun di alam tanpa mengganggu kelestarian ekosistem lamun.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine whether inquiry learning can improve students’ oral activities in Biology at Grade of XI MIA 5 SMA N 5 Surakarta. This research was conducted in the academic year 2014/2015 as a three-cycles action research. The subjects of this study were of Grade XI MIA 5 SMA N 5 Surakarta, 33 students. Data was collected questionnaire, observation, interview, and documentation. The data was compiled in tables and graphs and then analyzed. Analysis of the data was qualitative analysis, which described the result of questionnaires, observations, and interviews during the implementation of the action. The validity of the data is checked by expert validators. As the results showed that the average achievement of students aspects of oral activities based on observations at the first cycle was 60, 98%; Cycle II 69; 51%, and in Cycle III was 79,73%. Target achievement of oral activities was 30% at the end of the cycle. The conclusions of this study is the use of inquiry learning can improve students’ oral activities in Biology at Grade XI MIA 5 of SMA N 5 Surakarta.Keywords: inquiry learning, oral activities, biology senior high school

Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) Development of integrated Science-Islamic Inquiry Biology module to improve the religiosity behavior of high school class XI students. (2) Knowing the feasibility of Islamic Science-based Biology Inquiry modules in Islamic Schools. (3) Improving students' critical thinking after using an integrated Science-Islamic Inquiry Biology module in class XI SMA. This of research is research and development using a modification of the Four-D Model (4-D Model) which consists of 4 stages, namely: define, design, develop, and spread ( disseminate). Qualitative data were obtained from observations and questionnaires, while quantitative data were obtained from the results of assessment of module validation, questionnaire assessment on product trials (limited trials and extensive trials), operational trials, and learning outcomes. Data analysis with quantitative descriptive techniques. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the validation of religious material and biology material experts is in very good criteria (88,50%); (2) validation of design experts in good criteria (90,00%); (3) validation of langue experts in good criteria (93,75%); and (4) validation of learning media experts in good criteria (95,31%). Assessment studies of biology teachers are in very helpful criteria (88,01%); (5) individual testing in good criteria (90,71%). So it can be concluded that the Integrated Science-Islamic Digestive System-Based Module Class XI SMA is suitable to be used as a support for digestive system learning in an Islamic school environment.
