Abstract

This research aims to analyze purchasing decisions for flexible packaging converting machines involving the influence of product quality and perceived value mediated by brand trust. Data were obtained using census techniques with the entire population as a research sample from 22 companies in Indonesia's flexible packaging industry that have used SBP brand converting machines, then analyzed using PLS-SEM SmartPLS 4 based on the p-value. The results indicate that the product quality variable does not have a significant effect on brand trust and purchasing decisions. The perceived value variable has a positive effect on brand trust and purchasing decisions. As an independent variable, the brand trust variable has a positive effect on purchasing decisions. However, the brand trust variable is unable to mediate the variables of product quality and perceived value on purchasing decisions

Abstract

This research began with confusion regarding changes in the direction of legal regulatory policies regarding abortion in Indonesia. This is proven by the amendment to the Health Law Number 17 of 2023 which is part of the health omnibus law, which can result in multiple interpretations because it refers to the criteria specified in the criminal code. However, it is not explained which criminal law book will be used, which could create gaps in the application of criminal law in cases of legal abortion in Indonesia. The possibility of interpretation in determining the criminal law book is due to the transition period for the implementation of the new criminal law book, namely Law Number 1 of 2023, which will still come into force in 2026. The difference in the policy direction of the old criminal law book and The new one is very significant because the new one regulates the exceptions to which abortion can be carried out, whereas the old one does not see any reason and categorizes abortion as a criminal offense and will be subject to imprisonment for those who violate it. These differences in provisions will certainly have quite different legal consequences if the legal regulations are incorrectly applied in dealing with the issue of legal abortion in Indonesia. If they are incorrect then the disadvantage is the pregnant mother who has the right to abortion. This research uses normative legal research by looking at conceptual approaches and also legislation. With the aim of seeing how the legislation regarding abortion continues to undergo changes and the legal consequences that arise from these policies.

Abstract

This study unveils the extent to which leadership styles impact on service delivery performance using Greater Giyani Municipality as a case study. It is argued that ethical leadership in South African municipalities is criticized for lacking, while effective leadership is crucial for enhancing basic service delivery. The problem statement highlights the criticism faced by municipalities for inadequate service provision due to non-democratic leadership styles. The aim is to explore different leadership styles and their impact on service delivery performance using a qualitative research methodology and Servant Leadership Theory. The study evaluates democratic, autocratic, laissez-faire, transformational, transactional, bureaucratic, and servant leadership styles. Democratic leadership, characterized by shared decision-making, is shown to enhance employee morale and community engagement, positively influencing service delivery. Autocratic leadership, in contrast, is self-serving and suppresses creativity, potentially leading to service delivery protests. Laissez-faire leadership, while promoting autonomy, may result in confusion and inefficiencies. Transformational leadership fosters innovation but may lack support for individual learning curves. Transactional leadership focuses on rewards and performance, suitable for routine tasks but may limit innovation. Bureaucratic leadership provides stability but may hinder flexibility and responsiveness. Servant leadership prioritizes team needs, positively impacting service delivery but requires a balance between support and accountability. Challenges affecting leadership in South African municipalities include corruption, political interference, socio-economic inequalities, and a lack of leadership ethics. The study recommends a transformational leadership approach to enhance collaboration, trust, and meaningful participation for improved service delivery in municipalities

The paper presents the results of an empirical analysis that shows that to minimize poverty and food insecurity, several institutional and legal frameworks have been put in place. The research empirically confirms and theoretically proves that; However, nothing has changed; the majority of South Africans are still facing hunger and living below the poverty line. The research results can be useful for policymakers who may utilize the research findings to implement SDGs 1 and 2 for socioeconomic development.

Abstract

Companies have a demand to comprehend the factors that impact their choice between equity and debt capital. The objective of this research is to condense and combine existing discoveries pertaining to the factors that influence a company's capital structure. The study employed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, which facilitates meticulous, discerning, and well-documented searches of literature to obtain more precise and all-encompassing insights. The research findings indicate that business risk, profitability, company size, and company growth exert a substantial influence on the capital structure policy. Nevertheless, certain factors, such as asset structure, non-debt tax shield, and uniqueness, do not consistently demonstrate an influence. The discussion emphasizes the intricacy of the connections between these variables and the necessity of adopting a contextual approach when managing capital structure. To achieve long-term financial goals, it is crucial to have a comprehensive comprehension of the business context and company characteristics when making decisions about capital structure.

Abstract

This study discusses the danger of mismanaging disposable baby diapers (hereinafter referred to as diapers) in residential environments. The random disposal of soiled baby diapers harbour communicable disease diarrhea and typhoid which may cause death of many young children. Disposable baby diapers are often found carelessly thrown away in many residential areas. Some components of diapers include toxic chemicals which are dangerous because they may kill micro-organisms, plants and animals which consume them. Some also clog the soil causing water loss through run-off, floods and destruction in gardens and fields. A qualitative research design was followed. Data was gathered through observation and interviews with nappy users (mothers and nannies). The findings indicated that rural communities lack designated disposal area for diapers. The study recommends that national government could develop policies which restricts to production of biodegradable, non-toxic and or recyclable diapers. It further recommends that local municipalities could use by-laws to enforce and monitor manufacturing compliance.
