Abstract

Introduction: Infertility is a global health concern that affects individuals physically, emotionally, and socially. In women, ovulation dysfunction is a leading cause, most commonly related to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Objective: This study aimed to assess fertilization and embryogenesis success rates in women with PCOS undergoing in vitro fertilization at the Morula IVF Clinic Jakarta between January and December 2024.Method: A descriptive study was conducted involving 66 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data were obtained from medical records, including age, body mass index, antral follicle count, hormonal levels, and fertilization and embryo development outcomes at the cleavage and blastocyst stages. Result and Discussion: Most patients were under 35 years, with normal body mass index and hormone profiles. Fertilization success reached 100 percent for mature oocytes and 75 percent for those showing two pronuclei. Embryogenesis showed good quality in most cleavage and blastocyst stage embryos, while some demonstrated poor development, reflecting variations in embryo growth. Conclusion: Continuous monitoring of embryo morphology is essential to optimize embryo transfer decisions and improve in vitro fertilization success among women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Abstract

Introduction: The Indonesian government and BPJS Kesehatan plan to replace the current class-based inpatient system with a Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) to ensure service equality. Government Regulation No. 47 of 2021 mandates that private hospitals must prepare at least 40% of their beds for KRIS. A preliminary survey showed only 57% of private hospitals in Denpasar were ready for this implementation. Objective: This study aimed to identify and analyze the obstacle factors in the implementation of KRIS in private hospitals in Denpasar. Method: This study used a qualitative design with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 17 informants, including representatives from 14 private hospitals, BPJS Kesehatan, and the Provincial and City Health Offices between April and July 2023. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Result and Discussion: The study identified four main barriers: 1) Resource factors, particularly in meeting 12 KRIS criteria such as room density (50% compliance), bathroom accessibility (57.14%), and oxygen outlets (71.42%), compounded by land, building, and budget limitations; 2) Communication issues, including differing perceptions of KRIS implementation regulations; 3) Disposition challenges, where hospitals feel unable to meet the implementation timeline and 4) Bureaucratic hurdles, specifically the absence of specific technical government regulations. Conclusions: The most dominant obstacles are inadequate facilities and infrastructure, land and budget constraints, differing information perceptions, unachievable implementation targets, and the lack of technical guidelines.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer case in the world. The mortality rate caused by this disease also high especially in the low and middle income countries including Indonesia. In an attempt to decrease the mortality rate, WHO and the government work on strategies, one of which is HPV vaccination by adding HPV vaccine into routine immunization program given to girls on primary school. This study aims to review and analyze literatures about HPV vaccine. The result shows that HPV vaccine has a significant efficacy on preventing cervical cancer, even more effective once given as early as possible towards adolescents. The vaccine’s dose required in order to form a long term protection is still being studied but some researchs find that a single dose is on par with 2 or even 3 doses in terms of giving protection. Further and longer duration of research needed in order to support this theory. That way, the limited amount of vaccine could be directed to a larger population and in the end formed the long awaited herd immunity.

Abstract

Introduction: Work accidents in Indonesia’s maritime transport sector remain a major issue, often associated with physical fatigue due to prolonged working hours, insufficient rest, and exposure to extreme conditions. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between physical fatigue levels and occupational accident incidence among maritime transport workers in Samarinda and Balikpapan. Method: A cross-sectional study involving 136 crew members was conducted using accidental sampling. Physical fatigue was assessed with the Cumulative Fatigue Symptom Index (CFSI), and accident data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis. Result and Discussion: High fatigue was reported by 51.5% of participants, and 67.6% had experienced work accidents. A significant association was found between fatigue and accident occurrence (p < 0.001), where workers with mild fatigue had a threefold lower risk of accidents (OR = 0.333; 95% CI: 0.237–0.469). Conclusions: Physical fatigue significantly increases the risk of occupational accidents among maritime transport workers, underscoring the importance of fatigue management and safety interventions in maritime operations.

Abstract

Introduction: Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication marked by hypertension and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation, often leading to maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. The disorder arises from endothelial dysfunction, causing impaired vascularization, inflammation, and reduced placental perfusion. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) on endothelial markers CD31, CD34, and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) expression in a preeclampsia rat model. Method: A post-test-only control group design was applied with five groups: negative control (normotensive pregnant rats), positive control (preeclamptic rats without EVOO), and three treatment groups receiving EVOO at doses of 0.5, 1, and 2 ml/day for 18 days. Immunohistochemical examination was used to assess the expression of CD31, CD34, and VEGF. Result and Discussion: EVOO significantly increased CD31, CD34, and VEGF expression (p<0.05) compared to the positive control, with the highest increase at a dose of 2 ml/day. The rise in angiogenic markers indicates endothelial recovery and improved placental vascularization. Conclusions: EVOO has potential as supportive therapy in preeclampsia by enhancing endothelial function and angiogenesis, leading to better placental blood flow

Abstract

Introduction: Elevated cholesterol levels among workers aged over 40 years constitute an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Work conditions with ergonomic risk exposures such as static postures, repetitive movements, and limited rest periods are presumed to contribute to disturbances in lipid metabolism. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the association between ergonomic risk exposure and cholesterol levels among older workers at PT. X Manufacturing Elektronik Batam. Method: A cross-sectional design was employed involving 173 respondents. Data were collected through ergonomic observations, questionnaires, and laboratory examinations of total cholesterol. Result and Discussion: Bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test revealed that workers with static postures had a higher prevalence of dyslipidemia (36.7%) compared to those with non-static postures (19.2%) (p=0.083). Workers with high repetitive movements also showed a higher prevalence of dyslipidemia (37.0%) compared to those with light–moderate repetition (18.5%) (p=0.063). Furthermore, workers with inadequate rest had a higher prevalence of dyslipidemia (57.1%) compared to those with adequate rest (31.8%) (p=0.143). Although the results were not statistically significant, the observed trends indicate a potential relationship between ergonomic risk factors and cholesterol levels. Conclusion: These findings provide an important foundation for future longitudinal studies and ergonomic interventions aimed at preventing metabolic disorders in the workplace

Abstract

Introduction: Prehypertension is a condition that precedes the onset of hypertension and typically presents without noticeable symptoms in affected individuals. One of the major contributing risk factors for hypertension among young adults is an unhealthy lifestyle, including elevated stress levels. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) Therapy on stress and blood pressure among individuals with prehypertension. Method: A quantitative approach was used with a quasi-experimental two-group pre–posttest design involving 40 participants selected through purposive sampling, divided into intervention and control groups. Result and Discussion: The intervention consisted of PMR therapy administered for two consecutive weeks, with each session lasting 20 minutes. Statistical analysis using paired sample t-test showed that, prior to the intervention, 55% of participants in the intervention group experienced moderate stress, with an average blood pressure of 130.80 mmHg systolic and 85.15 mmHg diastolic. After the intervention, 60% fell into the mild stress category, and the average blood pressure decreased to 117.20 mmHg systolic and 76.15 mmHg diastolic. The significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 indicates a meaningful effect of PMR therapy on reducing stress and blood pressure in prehypertensive individuals. Conclusion: This therapy effectively enhances relaxation, reduces muscle tension, and serves as a beneficial nonpharmacological intervention for community use.
