Abstract

Healthcare facilities must monitor waste generation data daily so it can always be tracked as reference for medical waste management. Mostly, each Fasyankes has a scale to record their medical waste generation at their facilities, but this data’s only available within the Fasyankes. The medical waste generation data from Fasyankes still needs to be recapitulated for reporting so that it’s available for policymakers to support the medical waste management from Fasyankes. However, human error significantly affects the data when weighing, because the waste weighing is done twice: first during the disposal and transfer of medical waste from its source to Temporary Disposal Site, and second when the medical waste is collected by the third party who has permission and MoU with the healthcare facility, with different monitoring officers present during the disposal to the TPS and during the collection by the third party. The numerous complaints regarding this matter led the Ministry of Health to collaborate with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to develop an application named ME-SMILE in 2023. This application utilizes Internet of Things technology with sensors, microprocessors, and modules. Type of Research: Implementation Research with Research Design: case study, which falls under descriptive analysis research, namely research that is focused on a specific case to be observed and analyzed thoroughly and meticulously. With this research, it is hoped to share experiences and knowledge for the authors, especially in addressing the issues of implementing the Me-Smile application in healthcare facilities.

Abstract

Implants are an effective hormonal contraceptive method, contain the hormone progestin, are not permanent and can prevent pregnancy between 3 and 5 years. There are indeed several things that make implants unpopular because many people lack the latest information about proper use. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and maternal interest in using implant contraception. The research design uses correlation with a cross sectional approach. The population in the study of all mothers in RW 02 Ds Cengkok, Nganjuk Regency. The sampling technique using accidental sampling was obtained with a sample of 33 respondents. In this study, two variables were used, namely the independent variable was the mother's knowledge of implant contraception and the dependent variable was the mother's interest in using implan contraception. The research instruments used questionnaires, data processing with editing, coding, scoring, tabulating and data analysis using Spearman Rank. The results of the study were obtained that 18 respondents (54.6%) had sufficient knowledge about implant contraception and 27 respondents (81.8%) had moderate interest in using implant contraception. From the results of the statistical test, it was found that there was a relationship between the knowledge of mothers about implant contraception and interest in using implant contraception based on the results of  Z calculated 3 while Z table was 1.96 where Z counted > Z table, then H1 was accepted. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and maternal interest in using implant contraceptives. To increase maternal knowledge about implant contraception, counseling is needed, especially for mothers with low education.

Abstract

Children with cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) frequently experience difficulties with speech and language development. Changes in the orofacial anatomical structure cause these issues, which lead to a restricted ability to articulate. Cleft lip and palate repair involves a variety of surgical techniques to restore function and a more normal appearance. This repair does not always result in normal function of the lip and palate, so these children usually present with speech difficulties even after surgery. Determining the speech intelligibility of CLP children who had undergone surgery was the goal of this investigation. The method used was to analyze the literature by searching for relevant articles on Pubmed, Wiley and Google Schoolar. Several reviews showed that speech intelligibility comprehension, measured using the Context Intelligibility Scale (CIS), depends on the proximity of the communication partner to the child. Although children with CLP have undergone surgery, speech therapy is still needed to help them improve speech intelligibility

Abstract

Heart Failure is a health issue with high mortality and morbidity rates in both developed and developing countries, such as Indonesia. The prevalence of heart failure in Asia is generally similar to that reported in Europe (1–3%), while in Indonesia, the prevalence is reported to be greater than 5%. Heart failure increases among geriatric patients, affecting 6% of those aged 60-79 years and up to 14% of those over 80 years old. Acute Decompensated Heart Failure (ADHF) is the progressive worsening of symptoms and clinical signs of heart failure in patients who have been previously diagnosed with the condition. The underlying mechanisms of clinical deterioration in patients include increased congestion and disease progression. ADHF and AF often occur together and can lead to hemodynamic instability and death. AF is the most common supraventricular dysrhythmia in patients with ADHF, with a prevalence of 25%-40%. The combination of ADHF and AF results in adverse clinical outcomes, including prolonged hospitalization and increased mortality. A 50-year- old woman complained of shortness of breath accompanied by palpitations that started 10 days before hospital admission and worsened in the last 2 days. The patient has a history of an enlarged heart for the past 3 years. A transthoracic echocardiogram revealed atrial fibrillation with a rapid ventricular rate (RV) of 90-130 beats per minute, left ventricular dilation (LVIDd 5.5 cm), decreased right ventricular systolic function (TAPSE 1.4 cm), left atrial dilation (LAVI 64.45 ml/m2), and right atrial dilation (RA major 5.8 cm). The electrocardiogram showed atrial fibrillation, abnormal ST & T waves, and prolonged ǪT interval.

Abstract

Breast milk is recognized as the best nutrition for infants, providing essential energy and nutrients during the first six months of life, while also supporting immune function and cognitive development critical for a child's healthy growth. Despite its well-documented benefits, many mothers face challenges in initiating and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding, with one of the main barriers being insufficient milk production. In Indonesia, although efforts have been made to achieve 80% exclusive breastfeeding coverage, 2022 data shows that only 67.96% of infants under six months receive exclusive breastfeeding, a decline from the previous year. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the smooth flow of breast milk in Gorontalo, including family support, early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD), breastfeeding techniques, and maternal nutrition. The research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, conducted in the postpartum room of RSIA Siti Khadijah from July to August 2024, with a sample of 40 breastfeeding mothers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test to examine the relationships between independent and dependent variables. The results indicated significant relationships between family support and smooth milk flow (p-value = 0.001 < 0.05), early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD) and smooth milk flow (p-value = 0.002 < 0.05), knowledge of breastfeeding techniques and smooth milk flow (p-value = 0.003 < 0.05), and maternal nutrition and smooth milk flow (p-value = 0.003 < 0.05). This study is expected to provide insights into the factors affecting breast milk flow and offer recommendations to improve exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Gorontalo, supporting the achievement of national targets, and providing guidance for designing more effective strategies tailored to the local context.

Abstract

Growth and development in children is a continuous process that begins at conception and continues until adulthood. Disorders in growth and development can impact a child's future development and may lead to disability. Several factors affect child growth and development, including age, education, and maternal employment. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal age, education, and occupation with the level of maternal knowledge about child growth and development. The study used a quantitative research design with an analytic survey and cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 46 mothers, with a sample size of 46 using total sampling. The results showed that the majority of mothers were aged 20-35 years (32 mothers, pValue = 0.016), had secondary education (22 mothers, pValue = 0.029), and were not employed (31 mothers, pValue = 0.011). Most mothers had good knowledge about child growth and development (36 mothers). There is a significant relationship between maternal age, education, and employment with the level of maternal knowledge about child growth and development. It is recommended that mothers regularly monitor their children's growth and development at the posyandu and seek information about child growth and development from health workers.

Abstract

The incidence of stunting in toddlers is one of the nutritional problems globally. Based on UNICEF data 2012-2018, the prevalence of stunting in the world reached 28%, in Eastern and Southern Africa by 40%, and in South Asia by 38%. When compared to the limit of "non-public health problem" according to the WHO for stunting problems of 20%, almost all countries in the world experience public health problems. The incidence of stunting in toddlers is more common in developing countries. This is evidenced by the number of stunting prevalence in toddlers in developing countries of 30%. Children will be stunted in their growth due to a lack of adequate food intake and recurrent infectious diseases that cause increased metabolic needs and reduced appetite. This can lead to increased malnutrition in children. This situation will make it more difficult to overcome growth disorders that ultimately have the opportunity to cause stunting. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors related to the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months in the Working Area of the Sawah Besar Health Center, Central Jakarta.   This type of research is quantitative with a Cross-Sectional design. The research approach used is a quantitative approach, namely the use of questionnaires and survey research techniques which are components of quantitative research. The results of the analysis show that the majority of mothers are in productive age, but there are also young and old mothers who face different challenges in parenting. The mother's education level is generally low, affecting parenting and nutrition. Preschool-age children are predominantly female, and most have normal height and weight, although some are at risk of stunting, especially with short height or low birth weight. The majority of children receive complementary foods as recommended, although a small number get them too early. Mothers' knowledge of nutrition is still mixed, with many lacking understanding, indicating the need for intensive education. Educational factors, feeding patterns, birth weight, and maternal knowledge are closely related to the risk of stunting, requiring strategic interventions to improve children's health.
