Abstract

Laparoscopy appendectomy is a minimally invasive operation to remove the appendix through several small incisions, rather than one large incision. So it is necessary to provide non-pharmacological interventions to patients to reduce post-surgical pain. This case report aims to determine the effectiveness of applying finger grip relaxation to reduce pain levels in post laparoscopic appendectomy patients. The method in this case report is a case study with two respondents in laparoscopic appendectomy patients due to pain discomfort. Finger grip relaxation is carried out 3 times every 15 minutes. The instrument used is the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The results of this case report show that by giving finger grip relaxation intervention for 45 minutes there was a significant reduction in pain levels from scale 5 to scale 2. Finger grip relaxation is an effective non-pharmacological therapy in standard nursing care interventions to reduce the pain scale after laparoscopic appendectomy.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a predisposing factor for the emergence of oral candidiasis. Increased blood glucose levels can also increase glucose levels in saliva. Excessive blood sugar levels in saliva stimulate the growth of Candida albicans on the mucosal surface, as a result, Candida albicans will be found in the saliva of DM patients. Oral candidiasis can attack mucosal tissues such as the mouth and pharynx and can be a complication of cancer. Purpose of this study was to identify candida albicans in the saliva of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Simalingkar Health Center, Medan City. Method This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was random. The number of samples identified in this study was 25 respondents, macroscopic and microscopic examinations were carried out, then the data were analyzed descriptively. The result of the descriptive analysis of the examination obtained the results of the study 56% positive Candida albicans, and 44% of respondents were negative for Candida albicans fungus. Conclusion The percentage value shows that most saliva samples from type 2 diabetes mellitus patients contain Candida albicans. These results emphasize the importance of routine monitoring of blood glucose levels to prevent the occurrence of oral candidiasis more effectively in type 2 diabetes melitus.

Abstract

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) have caused high burden of mortality in Indonesia. One of the main risk factors of NCDs is physical inactivity, which has become a problem in Bandung Regency. Biological, psychological, sociodemographic, sociocultural, and built environment (BE) factors affect physical activity (PA) levels. This study seeks to understand the factors that are associated with adults’ PA in Bojongsoang District. This quantitative, observational, analytical study uses a cross-sectional design. The study population are adults aged 18-59 years old which are domiciled in Bojongsoang District, while the study sample is determined to be 250 people based on calculation of two proportion differences. Data is collected through questionnaire-based guided interview. Univariate analysis shows that the number of respondents that engage in PA at least 150 minutes/week is 69,2%. Multiple logistic regression results show that work (OR 0,555; CI 95% 0,313-0,983), private vehicle ownership (OR 4,351; CI 95% 1,188-15,940), and social support (OR 3,160; CI 95% 1,776-5,621) are associated with PA after controlling for other independent variables. Private vehicle ownership is the most dominant variable associated with adults’ PA in Bojongsoang District. Community-oriented interventions to improve PA in Bojongsoang District needs to target the workers and those who use private vehicles.

Abstract

The latest regulation from the Indonesian Ministry of Health stipulates that all health service facilities must organize Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This encourages health centers to apply e-Health Center for the real-time data input process based on the Circular issued by the Tangerang City Health Office. However, based on service monitoring, it is known that not all health centers have achieved the set real-time input target. This study aims to evaluate the utilization of the E-Health Center application in four selected health centers, namely Gembor, Periuk Jaya, Kedaung Wetan, and Cipadu in 2024. The study used a qualitative study design by conducting in-depth interviews, document reviews, and observations of opinions and conditions of the use of the e-Health Center application. The Contextual, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) process framework and the Edward III implementation framework (bureaucratic structure, resources, disposition, and communication) were used to evaluate the implementation. The study involved 4 persons in charge, 5 users, and 2 decision makers of the information system at the health center. The results of the study show that contextually the e-Puskesmas application only meets the utilization objectives based on the Minister of Health's regulation on electronic medical records. The utilization of e-Puskesmas has not created a digital work culture that accelerates and facilitates the work of health workers and minimizes paper use. This is because the input and process of utilizing e-Puskesmas still have obstacles and do not conform to the expected standards. This study recommends improving the utilization of e-Puskesmas with adequate BLUD budget support and the preparation of uniform standard procedures across all health centers.
