Abstract

Seaweed is one of the leading commodities that is rich in nutrients and bioactive compounds that have potential for human health. The content contained in brown seaweed can be used as a therapy in increasing hemoglobin levels in anemia problems. The purpose of this study was to see the potential antianemia activity of brown seaweed extract (Sargassum duplicatum) against white mice (Mus musculus) and what dose can increase hemoglobin levels in mice. This research method is an experimental method with the Hb stick method carried out on 20 white mice, which were divided into 5 groups, namely the positive control group (blood supplement tablets), negative control group NaCMC 1%, treatment group 1 dose of 21 mg / kgBB, treatment group 2 dose 42 mg / kgBB, and treatment group 3 doisis 84 mg / kgBB. Testing the potential antianemia activity of brown seaweed was carried out on mice that had been induced with NaNo 2and then given a dose of extract treatment. The data were analyzed statistically using paired-sample t-test analysis to analyze the effectiveness of the treatment indicated by the difference in the average before and average after treatment. The results of the study Hemoglobin (Hb) g/dl levels on day 1 to day 15 showed a very significant increase in hemoglobin where the parameters of the dose group were close to the normal condition of the positive control group (blood supplement tablets), namely group 3 dose of 84 mg/KgBB, so it can be concluded that brown seaweed extract (Sargassum duplicatum) in group 3 dose of 84 mg/KgBB has potential antianemia activity comparable to the positive control dose (blood supplement tablets).

Abstract

Drug logistics management is a critical component of healthcare services, intended to ensure the continuous availability of medicines in appropriate quantities, with the right quality, and at the right time. Proper drug availability is essential to the success of treatment processes and patient satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the implementation of drug logistics management at the Village Berohol Health Center in Tebing Tinggi City, which serves as a primary healthcare provider for the surrounding community. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with key personnel, direct observations of logistics processes, and review of documentation related to medicine management. The data were then analyzed using thematic coding to extract key themes and patterns. The results indicate that while the logistics system at the health center functions effectively in ensuring medicine availability, there are notable challenges including limited human resources, insufficient medicine storage facilities, and occasional fluctuations in the availability of specific types of medicines. These challenges can affect the consistency and efficiency of medicine distribution. Nevertheless, observations and documentation confirm that the health center is able to meet most of its medicine supply needs. The study concludes that although the overall implementation of drug logistics management at the Kelurahan Berohol Health Center is effective, improvements are still necessary, particularly in enhancing human resource capacity and upgrading storage infrastructure to support more efficient and reliable drug logistics operations.

Abstract

Final-year university students are particularly vulnerable to emotional stress due to academic pressure, the demands of completing a thesis, and anxiety about entering the workforce. In such circumstances, smoking is often used as a coping mechanism, although it may adversely affect sleep quality. This study aims to analyze the relationship between emotional stress, smoking habits, and sleep quality among final-year university students. This research employed a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 50 final-year students selected through total sampling. Data collection instruments included the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) to assess emotional stress, a smoking habits questionnaire, and a sleep quality assessment via Google Forms. Data were analyzed using the Kendall Tau correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between emotional stress and smoking habits (p<0.05), both of which were negatively correlated with sleep quality. Students with higher stress levels tended to smoke more frequently and experienced poorer sleep quality, including difficulty falling asleep and frequent nighttime awakenings. It can be concluded that emotional stress and smoking habits contribute to decreased sleep quality among students. Preventive interventions such as stress management education and smoking cessation efforts are essential to help maintain students' psychophysiological balance during the academic transition period.

Abstract

Hemodynamic status is regulated by the medulla oblongata and is influenced by systemic stimulation. In this study, unconscious (comatose) patients in the ICU of RSUD Kaimana received classical and instrumental music therapy as a form of auditory stimulation to support cerebral perfusion and promote hemodynamic stability. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent time sample approach. A total of 35 respondents were selected through simple random sampling. The independent variables were classical and instrumental music therapies, while the dependent variables were hemodynamic parameters, including respiratory rate (RR), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), and oxygen saturation (SpO₂). Data were collected through observation and questionnaires and analyzed using the Independent T-Test with SPSS. Before the intervention, the average RR was 25.93 (range: 14–35), systolic blood pressure 116.40 mmHg (98–144), diastolic 70.60 mmHg (52–94), MAP 87.67 mmHg (71–111), SpO₂ 98% (94–100), and HR 98 bpm (64–135). The analysis showed a p-value of 0.001 (< 0.05) for both classical and instrumental music interventions, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ accepted. Thus, both types of music therapy significantly influenced the hemodynamic status of comatose patients in the ICU.

Abstract

Children with autism often experience significant communication difficulties due to delayed or absent language development, which hampers their social interactions. One factor influencing communication development is the parenting style applied by parents. This study aims to identify the relationship between democratic parenting styles and language skills in children with autism at SLB Putra Harapan Perak, Bojonegoro Regency, in 2023. The research design used is a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study consists of all autistic students enrolled at SLB Putra Harapan Perak, with a total sample of 14 respondents using total sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, and data analysis was conducted using estimation curves. The results showed that the majority of respondents with non-democratic parenting styles also faced language difficulties, with 6 respondents (66.7%) showing language issues. These findings indicate that democratic parenting styles positively affect language skills in children with autism. The more democratic the parenting style, the less likely the child is to experience language difficulties. This study suggests that parents of children with autism adopt democratic parenting styles to support the development of their language skills.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a silent killer that may progress to severe complications without overt early symptoms. It arises from insulin secretion defects, insulin resistance, or both, resulting in chronic hyperglycemia. Prolonged hyperglycemia induces metabolic stress and systemic inflammation, exacerbated by modifiable lifestyle factors. Detecting subclinical inflammation (even in uncomplicated T2DM) is critical for timely intervention. We evaluated serum C-Reactive Protein (CRP), a hepatic inflammatory marker, in uncomplicated T2DM patients, assessing its links to disease duration and lifestyle. This cross-sectional analytical study enrolled 37 uncomplicated T2DM patients under routine care. CRP was quantified via latex agglutination; demographic/behavioral data were collected via questionnaires. CRP positivity occurred in 29.7% of patients (n=11), predominantly women (59.5%), aged 41-50 (62.2%), with T2DM duration <5 years (64.9%). CRP levels correlated significantly with disease duration (p = <0.001) and smoking (p = 0.016) but not diet (p = 0.580) or physical activity (p = 0.163). Nearly one-third of uncomplicated T2DM patients exhibited elevated CRP, strongly associated with disease duration and tobacco exposure (active or passive). CRP may serve as an early warning biomarker, urging tighter control of modifiable environmental and behavioral risks.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder involving dysfunction of the pancreas, resulting in insulin's inability to effectively convert blood glucose into energy. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is often caused by obesity and unhealthy dietary habits, making dietary regulation essential for lowering blood sugar levels. Adherence to a recommended diet requires strong motivation, which serves as a key support system. Without sufficient motivation, maintaining dietary commitment becomes challenging. This commitment refers to a person’s willingness to follow the treatment regimen as advised by healthcare professionals. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between blood glucose levels and diet commitment in relation to self-motivation among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The results of the Spearman Rho test showed a p-value = 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between self-motivation and diet commitment toward blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It can thus be concluded that there is a correlation between blood glucose levels and diet commitment as influenced by self-motivation in these patients.
