Abstract

Achievement of the competence of learners on the subjects of physics showed less than optimal results because the learning model and teaching materials have not demanded the active role of learners in finding the concept. Physics learning requires instructional materials based on learning models that can increase the interaction of learners in a concept invention. The teaching materials in question are Student Work Sheets based on the Discovery Learning model. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of Student Work Sheets based on Discovery Learning model on the material of rotation of rigid bodies and fluids objects to the achievement of physics competence of students of class XI SMAN 15 Padang. This type of research is Quasi Experiment Research with Randomized Control Group Design Only Design. The population of the study were students of class XI SMAN 15 Padang registered in the academic year 2016/2017 with the sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The experimental class is XI IPA 1 using Student Work Sheets based on Discovery Learning model and control class is XI IPA 5 using Student Work Sheets in the school. Assessment instruments used in attitudinal aspects through the assessment of observation, knowledge through written tests, and skills through performance appraisal. Research data were analyzed by two equality test equation using t test statistic and regression test and correlation to know the relation between independent variable and control variable. The mean value of the experimental class attitude aspect is 82,11 and the control class is 72,45. The average value of the experimental class knowledge aspect is 80,12 and the control class is 72,34. The average value of experimental class skill aspect is 79,21 and the control class is 66,33. The result of t test for attitude aspect is 3,1569, knowledge is 2,5605, and skill is 6,4236 show t count is outside acceptance area of Ho. It shows that the difference of mean value between the two sample classes has significance at the real level of 0,0500 with the value of t count > t table. Based on the regression and correlation test, the effect of Student Work Sheets based on the Discovery Learning model on the knowledge aspect is 21,19 %. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the use of Student Work Sheets based on the model of Discovery Learning toward the achievement of physics competence of students of class XI SMAN 15 Padang

Abstract

The background of this research is still at least a scientific approach oriented teaching materials including student worksheet (LKS) and learning methods that are less attractive, including of SMA state 2 Padang. In curriculum requires tecahers to be able to utilize the entire potensial of the students in the teaching, so that the student centered learning. One approach with regard to these demands is the scientific approach, so that learning can be implemented with either the necessary teaching materials and methods that support the learning process. This purpose of research to investigate the influence of LKS oriented scientific approach in the method of quantum learning to learning outcomes-physics class X students of SMA state 2 Padang in the school year 2014/2015. This type of research is a "quasi experimenal" with the draft "only randomized control group design. Sampling was done by using cluster random sampling. Data research include learning outcomes in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The research instrument in the form of a written test for cognitive learning outcomes, observation sheet for affective learning outcomes, and the scoring rubric for the assessment of psychomotor performance. Data analysis of learning outcomes in the cognitive and psychomotor the experimental class is better than the control class, except for affective learning outcome. On the affective obtained th = 0.955 < tt = 1.67 , on the cognitive obtained th = 2.31 > tt = 1.67, and the psychomotor obtained th = 2.50 > tt = 1.67. Based on the data analysis can be presented  result of research. The hypothesis that there is a significant effect of giving LKS oriented scientific approach in the method of quantum learning to learning outcomes-Physics class X students of SMA state 2 Padang can be accepted for learning outcomes in the cognitive and psychomotor except for affective learning outcome at the 0.05 significance level

Abstract

This quantitative study was aimed to develop and determine the usability of a Bragg’s law crystallography model as a teaching aid in Solid State Physics course among undergraduate students in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The usability of Bragg’s law crystallography model in attracting students’ interest towards the learning area and the perception of students towards the usability were evaluated. A total of 101 UPSI undergraduate students were taken as the respondents in the study via the cluster probability sampling method. A questionnaire with four points Likert scale was used to collect the data. The instruments including the model and the questionnaire were verified by evaluation experts. Pilot test was carried out to measure the reliability of instruments. The data was analysed by using the descriptive statistics. The findings showed that the developed Bragg’s law crystallography model was valid and reliable for undergraduate students in UPSI. Positive result of the students’ interest towards the learning area by using the Bragg’s law crystallography model and the usefulness of this model was showed. Students showed great interest during the lecture learning about Bragg’s law. Thus, Bragg’s law crystallography model enabled students to be more interested in the learning area and helped the educators to create better learning environment in Solid State Physics course as the implications of this research

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago prone to disasters such as floods hydrometeorologi. The impact posed by floods almost every year has increased both from loss of life, property or damage to public facilities. One of the causes of the large number of casualties happened i.e. lack of knowledge or understanding of the disaster. So the effort to reduce the impact of the flood disaster that is through education that is integrated with the material glut. This is in accordance with changes in education standards suggesting that the structure of the curriculum for the education unit was the appropriate education with potential local or excellence an area. One of the potential areas that are owned by the province of West Sumatra is disastrous floods. However, the fact there has been no real outstanding textbooks that have been integrated with the material of the flood. So the need for analysis of the suitability of the material science material with flooding. Before integrating the material into a flood of material need for the science analysis of the suitability of the material of the science on a textbook lesson in IPA with the purpose of the curriculum, for the Government's efforts in revising the curriculum lead to changes of national standards Education so that changes the structure and arrangement of the material in the textbook lessons. Then the results of the analysis of the suitability of the material science with the goal of this curriculum is to be used as an ingredient or material that will be seen the suitability of material science material with flooding.  Type of this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The subject of this research is a textbook lesson in science class VIII semester 1 in books K and E. sampling Technique used was purposive sampling. Instruments for collecting data consists of sheets of material suitability analysis IPA with the goal of curriculum textbook lessons IPA SMP/MTs class VIII semester 1 and sheet material suitability analysis IPA with the material glut. The research results obtained are the suitability of a textbook lesson science SMP/MTs class VIII semester 1 with the goal of curriculum to book K obtained percentage for compliance 79.36% (accordingly) and the book E obtained percentage conformance 88,57% (very appropriate) . Then the level of conformity of the material science class VIII semester 1 with the flood of material on KD 3.1 is inappropriate category with 26.67 KD 3.2 is 66.67% with appropriate categories, KD 3.3 is 20% with a category is not appropriate, KD 3.4  and KD 3.6 are 33,33% with categories is inappropriate, KD 3.5 was 46,67% with quite appropriate  category.

Abstract

The achievement of students physics competence is not yet satisfy expetation. There are several factors to effect this problem such as the teacher centered learning, teaching materials that still have not varied, and students have not been involved learning in the process to find knowledge. The purpose of research is to determine the effect of implementation LKPD with IDEAL problem solving model in spring elasticity and static fluid to the physics competence of students grade XI SMAN 5 Padang. The type of research is pre-experimental design with one shoot case study research design. Populations in this research are all students of grade XI SMAN 5 Padang in academic year 2017/2018. Sampling tecnique use purposive sampling. The research data are values of attitude, knowledge, skill in laboratory, and LKPD with IDEAL problem solving model. Data of attitude competence is analyzed using descriptive  statistic. Data of knowledge and skill competence are analyzed using simple linear regression and correlation analysis at significant level 0,05. The correlation analysis of LKPD with IDEAL problem solving model to students competence obtained in the amount of 45,46% for knowledge and 51,84% for skill compatence. Based on analysis found that there is significant effect on implementation LKPD with IDEAL problem solving model in spring elasticity and static fluid to physics competence of students grade XI SMAN 5 Padang.

Abstract

Material of education must be prepared by teacher to do activities of education that students as center of it. The porpuse of the resacrch is to know how influence material of education like work sheet that have oriented to do scientific approach on physics study to attainment student’s competences. This research was an experimental research randomized control group only design. The population of this research were all of the students of SMAN 15 Padang in the first semester of academic year 2014/2015. Research data include the attainment of students from three aspects : attitude, knowledge, and skill. Aspects of the assessment instrument in the form of sheet attitude observation, self assessment sheet, and peer assessment sheet. Assessment instrument aspects of knowledge in the form of multiple choice test and aspects of skills in the rubric scoring sheet. Based on research that has been done, the result of research thet the average value of aspects attitude in the experimental class was 90,02 higher than control class was  87,73. The average value of the aspects knowledge in the experimental class was 77,12 higher control class was  87,73. The Average value aspects of skill in the experimental class was 82,34 higher than control class was 76,7. The research results were analyzed using t test at the 0,05 significance level. The result of study showed that there are significance difference between the students attainment of experimental class with the control class. This difference is due to the influence of the use of student activity sheet oriented scientific approach

Abstract

The development of science and technology in the 21st century is marked by the use of brain work, which is more important than muscle work which has been replaced by intelligent robots. Therefore, efforts to increase the quantity and quality of knowledge through thinking and reasoning exercises are very important to be applied in education. However, after 8 years of implementing K-13, the conditions in the field documents for teacher learning tools show that they still do not meet these expectations. This study aims to develop high school physics learning tools oriented to the revised Bloom's taxonomy on elasticity material. This research is included in Research and Development (RnD) by applying ADDIE. The stages carried out only reached the development stage (validation) which involved 3 lecturers from the Department of Physics FMIPA UNP and 3 physics teachers in Kuantan Singingi Regency as a team of experts and a team of practitioners. The results showed that the feasibility of the resulting product design for lesson plans obtained an average validation value of 82.37% (very valid), and an average validation value of 80.39% (valid). For teaching materials, the average result of lecturer validation is 86.49% (very valid), and the average value of teacher validation is 87.87% (very valid). For the evaluation instrument, the average value of lecturer validation is 79.48% (valid), and the average value of teacher validation is 76.24 % (valid). In general, this study concludes that the resulting learning device designs are in the category between valid and very valid.

Abstract

      The 21st century education is expected to create quality human resources and be able to compete in the face of 21st century forecasts. In physics subjects, logical thinking and systematic skills can be developed to equip students to face challenges in an increasingly competitive society. Governments have made various efforts to improve the quality of education. One of them is to apply literacy in learning. However, real conditions at school show that physical learning has not run optimally where literacy is used in learning only functional literation. One solution that can be used to solve this problem is to develop teaching materials with scientific literation. The purpose of this study is to determine the validity of the materials of scientific literacy-charged physics. This type of research is research and development (R & D). The research object is a physics-teaching material charged with the cyanotic literacy of optical tools and global warming for grade XI senior high school. The instrument to validate the teaching material is a questionnaire sheet. It consists of 3 validators, a physics lecturer. Data analysis techniques are descriptive statistics. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the average validation value of a physics-led scientific literacy material on the optical tools and global warming is 90.91. Accordingly, physics teaching materials are filled with literacy in materials of optical devices and global warming depending on the very high level of validity.

Abstract

The low of students’ competence in Natural Science is due to the lack of learning step that sharpen students creativity in teaching materials. Students’ creativity can be sharpened by using problem based learning strategy and students worksheet based on creative thinking skill. Therefore, the purposes of this research is to inquire the influence of students worksheet based on creative thinking skill in problem based learning strategy toward eight grade students competence at Adabiah junior high school. This research used quasi experiment research type and randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population of this research was all students of Adabiah junior high school in eight grade of academic year 2014/2015. The research instruments were test sheet for knowledge competence, score rubric of creative thinking, score rubric for skill competence, and students worksheet based on creative thinking skill. The result of this research showed that the mean score of knowledge and skill competence in experimental class was higher than control class. However, the result of statistical analysis showed that there was no significance difference between both competence in both class sample at 0,05 significance level. Thus, the use of students worksheet based on creative thinking skill in problem based learning strategy has not yet been able to improve students’ knowledge and skill competence

Abstract

Physics has complex lesson content so the learning process that will be used must be effective, easy to understand, and make student actively participate. The purpose of this  research is to investigate the effect of using Mind Mapping in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the achievement of students' physic competence at grade 10th SMAN 2 Padang. This type of research is Quasi Experimental Research with Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Population of the research is students at grade 10th SMAN 2 Padang in 2017/2018.  Sampling  technique that use  is purposive sampling. The experiment class using Mind mapping in the PBL  model, and the control class only uses the PBL model. Students' competencies are attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The average of attitude competency in the experimental class is 91.23 higher than the control class of 89.19. The average value of knowledge competence in the experimental class is 72.26 higher than the control class of 66.58. The average value of skill competencies for the experimental class is 90.40 higher than the control class of 86.47. So, it can be concluded that there is an effect which means the use of Mind Mapping in the Problem Based Learning model of the achievement of students' physical competence at grade 10th SMAN 2 Padang.Keywords : Mind Mapping, Problem Based Learning Model, Competence
