Abstract

Reading literacy is a basic competency that elementary school students must have, but the reading literacy ability of Indonesian students is still relatively low. A similar condition was found in third-grade students of Sepaku Elementary School who experienced difficulties in understanding the content of reading, determining the main idea, and concluding. This study aims to develop an interactive flipbook media based on the local wisdom of the Indonesian Capital Region to improve the reading literacy of elementary school students. The study used the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects consisted of 20 third-grade students. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, and pretest and posttest tests. Data were analysed using the percentage of feasibility, practicality, and the N-Gain test. The results showed that the media obtained an average validity of 90.0% with a very feasible category, consisting of validation from material experts, 92.5%, media experts, 85.0%, and language experts, 92.5%. The level of practicality of the media reached 93.4%, with a very practical category. The effectiveness of the media showed an increase in students' average score from 70.95 in the pretest to 80.85 in the posttest, with an N-Gain value of 0.34, categorised as moderate. The novelty of the research lies in the integration of interactive digital media, Sepaku local wisdom content, and guided reading methods in one learning product. The interactive flipbook media based on local wisdom was declared feasible, practical, and effective in improving elementary school students' reading literacy.

Abstract

The low level of student literacy in Indonesia, particularly in East Nusa Tenggara Province, poses a challenge in improving the quality of education. This condition demands strengthening teacher quality through academic supervision by school supervisors. This study aims to examine the effect of academic supervision on teacher professional competence and performance, both partially and simultaneously. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 328 respondents selected through the Simple Random Sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis, simple linear regression, and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) using IBM SPSS version 27. The results of the study indicate that academic supervision has a positive and significant effect on teacher professional competence, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a contribution of 58.4%. Academic supervision also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a contribution of 60%. In addition, the results of the Pillai's Trace test indicate that academic supervision simultaneously has a significant effect on teacher professional competence and performance, with a contribution of 40.7%. Thus, academic supervision by school supervisors has a strategic role in improving teacher professionalism and performance as an effort to support improving the quality of education.

Abstract

This article examines the dialectical relationship between philosophy, society, and culture in the context of modern educational transformation in Indonesia. This study is motivated by the emergence of a cultural identity crisis stemming from globalization and digitalization, which have influenced the younger generation's value orientations. This research aims to analyze the relationships among philosophy as a foundation of values, society as a space for social practice, and culture as a collective manifestation, with implications for the contemporary education system. The study uses a qualitative approach, employing a systematic literature review of scientific articles from Google Scholar, Scopus, and ERIC databases over the past 10 years. The analysis is carried out in stages: identification, selection, theme categorization, and conceptual synthesis of relevant literature. The results of the study indicate that education detached from society's philosophical and cultural roots tends to lose social relevance and fails to shape students' character as a whole. The dialectic among philosophy, society, and culture provides an important foundation for culture-based education responsive to global challenges. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of strengthening a curriculum grounded in local wisdom, implementing culturally responsive teaching, and transforming teachers' roles as mediators of values and agents of social change. This article concludes that the dialectical relationship between philosophy, society, and culture plays a fundamental role in shaping a relevant, humanistic, and sustainable education system. Education rooted in philosophical values ??and local cultural wisdom can strengthen students' identity, character, and adaptive abilities amidst the challenges of globalization and digitalization.

This study aims to determine the application of character education values in Fine Arts learning for fifth-grade students of SDN 16 Sindue. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of Fine Arts teachers and fifth-grade students of SDN 16 Sindue. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested using source triangulation and technical triangulation. Character education values have been integrated into the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages of Fine Arts learning. The most prominent values observed were discipline, independence, and creativity. Discipline appeared in students’ punctuality, preparedness, adherence to rules, and timely assignment completion. Independence was shown through students’ ability to work individually, solve problems on their own, and take responsibility for their work. Creativity emerged in students’ idea generation, imagination development, and production of unique artworks. Teachers played a key role as facilitators, guides, and role models in instilling these values. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that Fine Arts learning can be an effective means of instilling character values in elementary school students. Through creative activities, students not only develop aesthetic abilities but also develop discipline, independence, and creativity in their daily lives.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of digital technology-based fine arts learning in developing the creativity of sixth-grade students at Cahaya Khalifah Islamic Elementary School. The research used a qualitative method with a case study approach involving one teacher and 20 students as participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that digital technology-based fine arts learning was implemented through three stages: introduction, core activities, and closing activities. In the learning process, teachers acted as facilitators who guided students in utilizing various digital platforms such as Canva, Pinterest, Google Images, WhatsApp, and artificial intelligence applications to create visual artworks. The integration of digital technology encouraged students to explore ideas more freely and creatively. Students’ creativity developed in four dimensions: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Furthermore, the use of digital media increased students’ motivation, participation, confidence, and engagement during learning activities. Students became more active in expressing artistic ideas, collaborating with peers, and producing innovative visual artworks. The study concludes that digital technology-based fine arts learning effectively supports the development of students’ creativity and provides broader opportunities for artistic exploration through innovative and interactive digital media in elementary school learning.

Abstract

The digitalization of elementary education demands that reading and writing learning not only focus on verbal texts but also integrate visual, auditory, spatial, and interactive modes. This study aims to synthesize the direction of the transformation of Indonesian language learning media in elementary schools and formulate an integrative framework for cognitive-friendly multimodal literacy. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review by adapting the PRISMA flow. Literature was searched through Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, and SINTA between 2021 and 2026 using a combination of keywords: multimodal literacy, reading and writing, elementary school, and digital media. Of the 86 initial records, 21 peer-reviewed articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed through thematic content analysis. The synthesis reveals four main findings: the shift of media from tools to environments for the production of meaning, the importance of aligning modes with literacy goals, the need for cognitive load management in multimedia design, and the role of teachers as pedagogical mediators and curators of digital resources. The integration of multimodal social semiotics and the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning provides the basis for balancing representational richness with students' information-processing capacity. These findings also demonstrate that the success of multimodal media is influenced by teacher readiness, device access, and the relevance of the school's local context. The transformation of reading and writing media needs to be directed toward critical, creative, inclusive, and measurable learning designs so that students become not only media users but also producers of multimodal digital texts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the school environment on the character formation of fifth-grade students of SD Inpres 3 Tondo. The main problem underlying this study is the indication of students' behavior that is less disciplined, less responsible, and less respectful of teachers and peers while in the school environment. This type of research is quantitative research using an experimental design, a One-Group Pretest and Posttest Design. The population in this study was all fifth-grade students of SD Inpres 3 Tondo, totaling 32 people, with a sampling technique using saturated sampling (the entire population was sampled). Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample T-Test hypothesis test with the help of the IBM SPSS program. The results of the descriptive analysis showed an increase in the average (mean) value of student character from 102.31 at the pretest to 106.56 at the posttest after being given treatment in the form of strengthening a conducive school environment. Based on the normality test, the pretest data (Sig. 0.777 > 0.05) and posttest (Sig. 0.301 > 0.05) were declared normally distributed. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test showed a calculated t value of -2.181 with a significance level of 0.037. Because the significance value is smaller than the 0.05 level (0.037 < 0.05), H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted. This proves that there is a significant influence of the school environment on the character formation of fifth-grade students of SD Inpres 3 Tondo. This success is supported by positive habits, consistent implementation of rules, and role models provided by teachers at school.
