Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of the Madrasah Diniyah program at SMPN 6 Sudimoro as a strategy for strengthening students' religious character. The study focuses on the integration model, implementation patterns, implications for character formation, and supporting and inhibiting factors in program implementation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and parents, participant observation of religious activities, and analysis of curriculum documents and school reports. Data analysis techniques refer to the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which involves data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results show that the integration of the Madrasah Diniyah program at the school is an independent initiative designated as a mandatory activity. Based on Thomas Lickona's character education theoretical framework, this program successfully touches three main dimensions: strengthening moral knowledge through materials on adab, basic fiqh, and reading and writing the Qur'an; fostering moral feelings through internalizing religious values in the school environment; and realizing moral actions through the habituation of worship and noble morals in daily life. Key supporting factors include strong synergy among the school, parents, and teaching staff, as well as support from local government policies. Conversely, limited learning time and diverse student backgrounds pose strategic challenges. These findings emphasize that multi-stakeholder collaboration is key to internalizing religious values without disrupting the national curriculum, and they also recommend regular evaluation to ensure program sustainability.

Abstract

Socioeconomic transformations under neoliberalism have reshaped the construction of masculinity, moving it from traditional attributes to performance, visibility, and institutional recognition. This shift often generates identity instability, which is reflected in cultural texts such as film. This study aims to examine how masculinity and identity crisis are represented through the main character in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) using a hermeneutic approach. Using a qualitative method, the research analyzes six key scenes to interpret the relationships among narrative structure, dialogue, and visual symbolism. The findings reveal that Walter Mitty’s masculinity is initially marked by social invisibility, subordination, and reliance on fantasy as a compensatory mechanism for his lack of recognition. These fantasies construct an idealized but unstable masculine identity rooted in external validation. As the narrative progresses, Walter shifts from direct engagement with real-life experiences to risk-taking and self-reflection. His masculinity evolves into a more authentic and experiential form, grounded in personal awareness rather than institutional approval. The study demonstrates that masculinity in the film is not fixed but continuously negotiated between social expectations and individual agency. Ultimately, Walter’s transformation represents a critique of neoliberal pressures, highlighting a shift from performative masculinity to a more meaningful, self-defined identity.

Abstract

Mathematics instruction on the concept of whole numbers in elementary schools is still dominated by conventional, teacher-centered methods, resulting in low student engagement and affecting numeracy skills and learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Project-Based Learning (Pjbl) model, assisted by interactive digital media, on students' numeracy skills and learning outcomes. The study used a mixed-methods approach with a nonequivalent control-group experimental design. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade students from Ulin Nuha Wuryantoro Elementary School (experimental group) and Wuryantoro 1 Elementary School (control group). Data collection techniques included tests, observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Quantitative data analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, and independent-samples t-tests using SPSS, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The study found a significant difference between the two groups. The average numeracy score of students in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (33.10 > 24.13). Similarly, the mathematics learning outcomes, the experimental group obtained a higher average score (80.95 > 75.63). The hypothesis test yielded a p-value < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of implementing interactive digital media-assisted PJBL on students' numeracy skills and learning outcomes. Thus, the interactive digital media-assisted PJBL model effectively improves the quality of mathematics learning, particularly in whole numbers, and encourages active student involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Brian Khrisna’s novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati through Lucien Goldmann’s genetic structuralism to reveal the relationships among the work’s structure, human facts, and the author’s worldview. This research is motivated by the increasing phenomenon of bullying and mental health crises among the younger generation, which are represented in literary works as a reflection of contemporary social reality. The method used is a descriptive, qualitative method with content analysis and hermeneutic techniques. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs in the novel, as well as supporting data from scientific literature and interviews with the author. The analysis is carried out by identifying intrinsic elements, reconstructing human facts, and systematically exploring the author’s worldview. The results show that the structure of the literary work is built coherently through existential themes, dialectical plots, representative characters, multiple conflicts, and a competitive urban social setting. The human facts found include bullying, mental health crises, and social alienation as collective phenomena of modern society. Meanwhile, the author’s worldview leads to existential humanism that emphasizes empathy, acceptance, and the meaning of a simple life. Homologically, there is a match between the work’s structure, social reality, and the collective consciousness of the younger generation. The conclusion of this study confirms that the novel not only serves as a social reflection but also critiques competitive culture and a lack of concern for mental health, while offering more humanistic values in the form of empathy and solidarity.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of the father’s role and its contribution to children’s emotional development in the animated films Inside Out (2015) and Inside Out 2 (2024). Considering the influence of popular media on perceptions of family dynamics, the study analyzes how father figures are portrayed through narrative structure, cinematography, and visual symbolism. A descriptive, qualitative method with a systematic film-text analysis approach was employed. Data were collected from selected scenes, dialogues, and father–child interactions reflecting both explicit and implicit parenting patterns. The analysis integrates fatherhood theory, psychoanalytic perspectives, and theories of emotional development. Findings indicate that the father’s role is constructed through seven key dimensions: active involvement, accessibility, responsibility, emotional support, behavioral guidance, protective supervision, and affective communication. Among these, direct involvement and emotional support are the most significant in fostering children’s psychological growth.Furthermore, the films depict a shift in fatherhood from an authoritative, functional role to a more emotionally responsive presence. This transformation aligns with contemporary parenting paradigms and supports the development of children’s self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and psychological integration. The study contributes to media studies and family psychology by emphasizing the importance of balanced representation of fathers in audiovisual content. It also highlights animated media as both entertainment and a reflection of evolving parenting values.

Abstract

The school's organizational structure plays a strategic role in determining the distribution of workload among teachers and educational staff. However, in practice, there is often a gap between the formal structure and the reality of task distribution in the field. This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational structure on the distribution of the workload for teachers and educational staff at SMPN 1 Kalibening and to identify the alignment between the structural design and actual work practices. The study used a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, and were then analyzed thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the organizational structure has been formally designed based on school needs, individual competencies, and periodic evaluations. However, in its implementation, there is still flexibility in roles and additional tasks beyond formal job descriptions. This condition reflects the semi-formal and adaptive nature of the organization, which aligns with the concept of a loosely coupled system in educational organizations. Workload distribution is influenced not only by the administrative structure but also by leadership dynamics, internal coordination, and the school's contextual needs. These findings confirm that an organization's structure is effective not only by its formal design but also by its alignment with actual work practices. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen data-based workload evaluation and formalize additional tasks to create a fairer, more proportional, and sustainable workload distribution.

Abstract

This research is motivated by students' low ability to transform visual objects into specific written diction in descriptive text learning. So far, learning has tended to be abstract and centered on textbooks, making it difficult for students to describe objects in detail, concretely, and meaningfully. This study aims to analyze the application of the field trip method in descriptive text learning for seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Gemuh. The study used a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with Indonesian language teachers and students, and analysis of student work. The results showed that the field trip method significantly increased students' sensory involvement, as students wrote based on direct observation rather than abstract imagination. This condition affects the quality of descriptive text, particularly the richness of diction, the accuracy of details, and students' ability to use the five senses in writing. Students also appeared more active and enthusiastic, and found ideas more easily during the learning process. From the teacher's perspective, this method helps students compose descriptions more coherently and contextually. However, its implementation still faces obstacles in time management and classroom control. These obstacles can be minimized by using structured Student Worksheets (LKS) as observation guides. Thus, the field trip method has proven effective in improving the quality of learning in descriptive text.

Abstract

The low quality of education in Indonesia is partly due to inadequate teaching resources. One way to improve the quality of teaching resources is to apply 21st-century skills through research activities and to develop conceptual understanding. This study aims to analyze students' scientific research skills and conceptual understanding of mechanical wave phenomena through a differentiation approach using a real and a virtual laboratory. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design. The study's population consisted of students in the Physics Education study program at Semarang State University. The sample for this study consisted of students in the Physics Education study program at Semarang State University, with class A as the control class and class B as the experimental class, determined using a purposive sampling technique. The control class conducted experimental activities using a differentiation approach in a real laboratory, while the experimental class conducted them in a virtual laboratory. The instruments used were both test and non-test (observations and documents). The analysis techniques used in this study included descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results showed that the scientific research skills of students in the control class met the good criteria (78.3%), while those in the experimental class met the very good criteria (83%). The results of students' conceptual understanding in the control and experimental classes met the good criteria, with percentages of 75.6% and 79.6%, respectively. This study concluded that there was a significant difference in science research skills between students who conducted experiments in real laboratories and those who conducted experiments in virtual laboratories. Still, there was no significant difference in conceptual understanding between the two groups.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a strategic factor in determining educational quality, influenced not only by individual competency but also by the principal's leadership and the work culture that develops within the school environment. This article aims to conceptually examine the roles of the principal's transformational leadership and collaborative culture as levers for teacher performance within educational management. The method used is a narrative literature review that examines various sources, including books and scholarly articles, relevant to leadership, organizational culture, and teacher performance. The analysis was conducted by identifying, classifying, and synthesizing concepts to build a comprehensive understanding framework. The study's results indicate that transformational leadership plays a crucial role through the principal's ability to establish a clear vision, serve as a role model, motivate, stimulate intellectual growth, and provide individual attention to teachers. Conversely, a collaborative culture strengthens professional interactions through knowledge sharing, problem-solving discussions, and continuous collective learning. The synergy between transformational leadership and a collaborative culture can create a conducive work climate, increase commitment, and encourage teachers to work more effectively, reflectively, adaptively, and innovatively. The implications of this study emphasize that principals need to act as agents of change, focusing not only on administrative aspects but also on strengthening a participatory and sustainable collaborative work culture. Thus, improved teacher performance can be achieved through the integration of visionary leadership and a supportive work environment.

Abstract

The importance of basic language skills in supporting elementary school students' communication, particularly in vocal delivery, speech, and intonation. Good language skills are not only determined by the clarity of the sounds produced, but also by the accuracy of pronunciation and the use of appropriate intonation so that the message can be understood well. However, observations and research data indicate that students' language skills still differ across aspects. The vocal aspect tends to be better than the other aspects, while the speech aspect remains a major weakness, and the intonation aspect falls into the sufficient category. This condition indicates that students' language skills have not developed evenly, so further study is needed to obtain a clearer picture of these abilities. This study aims to describe the basic language skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 09 Serakim 1, including vocal, speech, and intonation aspects. This study used a descriptive, qualitative approach with 4 students. Data collection was conducted through Likert-scale assessments of each observed aspect. The results showed that students' language skills vary across aspects. The vocal aspect obtained the highest percentage, 68.75%, in the good category; the intonation aspect, 56.25%, in the sufficient category; and the speech aspect, 43.75%, in the poor category. This indicates that students' abilities are quite good in vocal and intonation, but remain weak in speech. Thus, it can be concluded that students' basic language skills are unevenly distributed across all aspects, so more focused learning efforts are needed, especially to improve speech skills.
