Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in elementary education. The research employed a qualitative approach with a multisite case study design conducted at SDN Bunikasih 1 and SDN Vada in Cianjur Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving school principals, teachers, and students. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the management of the PjBL model is implemented through four main stages: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. In the planning stage, teachers design project-based learning activities that integrate critical thinking indicators, although with varying levels of consistency. In the organizing stage, collaboration among teachers and the formation of heterogeneous student groups support the learning process, despite some coordination constraints. In the implementation stage, PjBL creates an active and engaging learning environment that promotes students’ participation and problem-solving skills. In the controlling stage, evaluation is conducted through supervision, reflection, and the use of critical thinking assessment rubrics, although supervision intensity is sometimes limited. The study concludes that PjBL management contributes positively to improving students’ critical thinking skills, as reflected in increased engagement, deeper understanding of learning materials, and the ability to apply knowledge in real-life contexts. However, challenges related to time management, teacher competence, collaboration, and learning facilities need to be addressed to optimize implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Indonesian language learning strategies based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in improving elementary school students’ learning outcomes. The research employed a qualitative approach using a multisite case study design, conducted at SDN Cibeureum Hilir CBM in Sukabumi City and SDN Sungapan in Sukabumi Regency. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and learning outcome tests involving teachers, students, and school principals. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that CTL-based learning strategies are implemented through four main stages: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. In the planning stage, teachers design contextual learning activities aligned with students’ real-life experiences, although with varying levels of structure. In the organizing stage, classroom management and collaboration support student-centered learning, despite differences in resource availability. In the implementation stage, CTL creates an active and meaningful learning environment that enhances students’ engagement and language skills. In the controlling stage, evaluation and follow-up actions are carried out through tests, assignments, and observations, although the consistency of these practices varies across schools. The study concludes that CTL-based learning strategies positively improve students’ motivation, participation, and learning outcomes in Indonesian language subjects. However, the effectiveness of CTL is influenced by teacher competence, the availability of learning resources, and the school context. Therefore, strengthening teacher capacity and improving learning facilities are essential to optimize the implementation of contextual learning in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the School Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah/GLS) in improving Indonesian language learning achievement in elementary schools. The research employed a qualitative approach with a multisite case study design conducted at SDN Semanan 15 and SDN Pegadungan 11 Jakarta. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving school principals, teachers, and library staff. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that literacy movement management is implemented through four main stages: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. In the planning stage, literacy programs are designed either in a structured, routine manner or through creative, integrative approaches. In the organizing stage, collaboration among teachers, students, and parents supports the implementation of literacy activities. In the implementation stage, literacy programs are carried out through routine reading habits and creative activities such as storytelling, drama, and performance-based literacy. In the controlling stage, evaluation and follow-up actions are conducted through structured and performance-based assessments to ensure program effectiveness. The study concludes that literacy movement management contributes positively to improving students’ Indonesian language learning achievement, particularly in reading comprehension, writing skills, communication ability, and self-confidence. However, its effectiveness is influenced by factors such as teacher competence, stakeholder collaboration, and resource availability. Therefore, strengthening management practices and integrating structured and creative literacy activities are essential to optimizing literacy development in elementary education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the management of religious-based character education development through principal leadership, teacher empowerment, and the use of the environment as a learning resource at SMP Negeri 24 Banjarmasin and SMP Negeri 27 Banjarmasin. This study is motivated by the phenomenon of moral degradation among students in the digital era, which demands strengthening religious values as a foundation for character formation. This study uses a qualitative, multi-site design. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, as well as cross-site analysis to identify similarities and differences in managerial practices across both schools. Data validity was tested through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicate that: 1. principal leadership plays a strategic role in formulating policies, building a religious culture, and integrating religious values into school programs; 2. teacher empowerment is carried out through active involvement in program planning and implementation, exemplary attitudes, and integration of religious values ??into daily learning and habits; and 3. the use of the school and social environment as learning resources to strengthen the internalization of religious values through habituation activities, social interactions, and direct experiences of students. Cross-site analysis shows variations in managerial approaches, but both share a commitment to building religious character through the synergy of leadership, teachers, and school culture. This study confirms that planned, systematic, and sustainable management of the development of religious-based character education can strengthen students’ moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action.

Abstract

Independence is a developmental aspect that requires stimulation from an early age, as it plays a crucial role in enabling children to perform daily activities without relying on others. However, observations at Masjid Al Hikmah Kindergarten in Central Jakarta revealed that the independence levels of children in Group A were still low. Most children struggled with simple life skills, such as putting on shoes, buttoning clothes, and tidying up toys after use. Consequently, there was a need for engaging, interactive learning media suited to children's developmental characteristics—specifically, the use of "busy books." This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles, each comprising planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The subjects were 20 children (aged 4–5) from Group A at Masjid Al Hikmah Kindergarten. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods to track improvements in independence across the cycles. The results demonstrated a gradual increase in independence from the pre-action stage through Cycle I and Cycle II. The children showed improved ability to perform various life skills independently, such as putting on shoes, buttoning clothes, and tidying up toys. By the end of Cycle II, the percentage of children achieving independence surpassed the minimum success indicator of 75%. The study concludes that busy books are an effective learning tool for enhancing independence in children aged 4–5. This medium provides an enjoyable learning experience, fosters active engagement, and stimulates life skills appropriate for early childhood development.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes in Pancasila Education among second-grade elementary school students, who are still predominantly using conventional learning methods and lack student involvement. The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is seen as an alternative that can improve understanding through contextual problem-solving. This study aims to determine the effect of the PBL model on learning outcomes of Pancasila Education. The study used a quantitative, quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The study population comprised all second-grade students at Jombor State Elementary School, and a purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample. The research instrument was a validated, reliable learning outcome test. Data were analysed using normality and homogeneity tests, and the t-test for hypothesis testing. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental group using the PBL model and the control group using conventional methods. The average learning outcomes of students in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group. These findings indicate that the application of the Problem-Based Learning model has a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes of Pancasila Education. This research implies that the PBL model can be used as an effective alternative learning strategy to improve the quality of learning in elementary schools, especially in building conceptual understanding and student active involvement.

Abstract

This study aims to identify: (1) teachers’ perceptions of the importance of using digital learning media in traditional poetry learning, (2) the types of digital learning media used by teachers, and (3) the obstacles faced in implementing it in the school environment. This study used a quantitative, survey-based approach. Data were collected using a dichotomous-scale questionnaire distributed to 30 Indonesian language teachers in junior high schools. The results showed that teachers’ perceptions of the use of digital learning media were in the very positive category. This was indicated by the high percentages in the cognitive (98.6%), affective (97.2%), and conative (81.1%) aspects. These findings indicate that teachers have a good understanding, supportive attitudes, and a tendency to apply digital media in traditional poetry learning. However, this study also found several obstacles to implementing digital learning media, with a 66% rate. These obstacles include limited availability of digital media relevant to the learning material, differences in students’ abilities to access and use technology, and limited time during classroom instruction. Thus, digital learning media have great potential to improve the quality of learning traditional poetry. Therefore, support is needed by providing adequate facilities and infrastructure, improving teachers’ digital competencies, and managing learning time more effectively, so that implementation can run optimally and sustainably.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) is a strategic step in facing the challenges of globalisation and the dynamics of the modern economy. Traditionally known as religious-based educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools have great potential to become centres of community economic empowerment. This study aims to examine the concept of entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools and its role in building community independence by integrating Islamic values and practical skills relevant to everyday life. The method used is qualitative research with a library research approach, which analyses scientific literature on the concept and implementation of entrepreneurship in Islamic boarding school education. The results show that entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools is not only oriented towards mastering theory but also emphasises hands-on practice through business units, skills training, and experiential learning. The integration of Islamic values, such as honesty, responsibility, and justice, is the main foundation for shaping the ethical character of Muslim entrepreneurs. In addition, the roles of kyai (Islamic clerics) and ustadz (Islamic religious teachers) as mentors, along with the support of the Islamic boarding school environment, are important factors in the successful implementation of entrepreneurship education. Thus, Islamic boarding schools serve not only as centres of religious education but also as agents of social and economic change, capable of producing independent, creative, and highly competitive generations. Entrepreneurship education in Islamic boarding schools is expected to help reduce unemployment and sustainably improve community welfare

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of implementing puzzle-learning media on spatial geometry material in mathematics on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Timbang. The background of this study is the low students’ ability to understand spatial geometry concepts and the use of conventional learning media, which call for more engaging and concrete learning innovations. This study uses a quasi-experimental Two-Group Posttest-Only Design, with two groups: the experimental group, which received treatment via puzzle-learning media, and the control group, which used cardboard media. The research sample consisted of 34 students, selected using simple random sampling. The data collection methods used include tests, observations, and documentation, supported by instruments that have been tested and declared to meet validity and reliability standards. Data analysis was carried out using prerequisite tests, including tests for normality and homogeneity, followed by hypothesis testing. The results of the study indicate that the use of puzzle media positively influences student learning outcomes across the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The use of puzzle media in the learning process improves student learning outcomes more than the use of cardboard media. This is likely due to differences in the effectiveness and characteristics of each learning medium. Puzzles can also make abstract concepts more concrete, increase student engagement, and motivate students. Puzzles play a significant role in supporting the learning process. Therefore, implementing puzzles can be considered an effective alternative strategy for improving the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools.
