Abstract

This research investigates how Indonesia's trade patterns are affected by its involvement in WTO disputes, specifically through the lens of the Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) principle. Focusing on disputes involving Indonesia between 1996 and 2020, the study evaluates changes in trade flows by comparing Indonesia’s outcomes to those of other WTO members. To control for hidden variables that may influence trade behavior within each case, a fixed-effects (FE) model is applied. The analysis reveals that Indonesia tends to benefit more when it acts as a complainant than other WTO members in similar roles. Nonetheless, the data offer minimal support for the idea that a country's economic size plays a decisive role in shaping post-dispute trade outcomes. Likewise, the hypothesis that democratic states are less likely to engage in biased settlements due to internal accountability pressures is not supported by statistically significant results. Importantly, the consistency and reliability of these findings are reinforced through bootstrap testing, which confirms the stability and significance of key coefficients across the models.

Abstract

This research examines how Mobile SAMSAT improves motor vehicle taxpayer compliance in Bandar Lampung City. Indonesia's growing fiscal demands for national expenditure and growth make regional taxes, especially motor vehicle tax, vital to local government revenue and public welfare. Motor vehicle tax contributes significantly to regional revenue, however taxpayer unfamiliarity with payment options and perceived burdensome SAMSAT office processes reduce compliance. In 2012, Bandar Lampung launched Mobile SAMSAT to provide door-to-door tax payment services, including annual Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK) validation, Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) payments, and Mandatory Road Traffic Accident Fund Contributions. This mixed-methods study used a Concurrent Triangulation Strategy to collect quantitative data from surveys and qualitative data from interviews and direct observation to evaluate program success factors. The results show that Mobile SAMSAT services promote taxpayer compliance via accessibility, clarity, and speed, boosting public trust and civic involvement in tax affairs. This efficacy is due to personnel response, appropriate service locations, and efficient administrative procedures.

Abstract

The demand for gomak noodles or lidi noodles made from corn, a typical food of Toba and Samosir, has long been popular. In the current era, it is trending again with the number of requests increasing every year. It is very rare for business units to produce it and it is only found in Balige, with a distinctive taste. It is possible that the taste is different because it uses raw materials from the Lake Toba area. If processing or development is carried out in the Toba and Samosir areas, it will have an impact on increasing the income of this region. This study aims to determine the investment opportunities for processing corn into gomak noodles in Samosir Regency for domestic needs fulfillment management. Research using literature studies with reference to various experiments that have been conducted in various different places. With an analytical approach to calculating investment costs, production costs, financial structures, sales estimates, production cost estimates, and cash flow. Fulfillment of financial feasibility is carried out by looking for break even point analysis, net present value, incremental rate of return, net benefit cost ratio, and pay back period, as well as sensitivity analysis. The making or processing of corn into gomak noodles in Samosir Regency can be seen from the negative net present value of Rp-10,923,517, the internal rate of return of 11% indicates that the rate of return is greater than the specified bank interest rate. The payback period is 9 years if the planned assumptions are met, the profitability index is 1.01 and the benefit-cost ratio is below 1, indicating that the benefits obtained are less than the costs. The project is very sensitive to decreased revenue or increased costs. Small changes in both variables can cause the project to experience losses or fail to return capital. The current profit margin is too thin, which causes the business to be unable to withstand fluctuations in raw material prices, operational costs, or decreased market demand. The payback period is too long or more than 9 years, not suitable for small or micro businesses.

Abstract

This study investigates how leadership patterns and workplace conditions affect staff performance at the Surabaya City Statistics Agency. The researchers chose a qualitative approach with a case study design, combining in-depth interviews, direct observation, and review of official agency documents. Field findings reveal that managers at the Surabaya City Statistics Agency employ two main approaches: transactional and transformational leadership. The transactional method tends to emphasise target achievement and efficiency, often resulting in pressure that disrupts employee well-being. In contrast, transformational leadership motivates and empowers staff, with the impact evident in improved performance in the long term. In terms of physical facilities, the office is adequately equipped, but cramped workspaces and a lack of collaborative areas remain challenges. Nevertheless, close interpersonal relationships and an organisational culture that prioritises data accuracy help boost productivity. The interaction between the two leadership styles and working conditions shows that they influence each other, so their contribution to employee performance cannot be separated. Based on these findings, the study recommends that the leadership of the Surabaya City BPS prioritise transformational leadership and improve the work environment to achieve higher work effectiveness.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between job satisfaction, employee commitment, and employee performance at the Surabaya City Statistics Agency (BPS). The researchers applied a qualitative case study methodology, utilising in-depth interviews, field observations, and analysis of official documents to gather data holistically. As information sources, six employees from various units were selected through purposive sampling to ensure that the perspectives obtained covered a diverse spectrum of work. Empirical findings indicate that high job satisfaction built by a friendly work environment and a reward system considered fair directly contributes positively to employees' daily performance. In addition, employee attachment to the institution, particularly the dimension of affective commitment, was also found to encourage better performance. However, this study also noted several obstacles, such as a relatively heavy workload and limited opportunities for career development. Therefore, the researchers recommend that the Surabaya City Statistics Agency formulate balanced policies to optimise employee satisfaction, commitment, and productivity simultaneously. As a result, the findings of this study are not only practical but also enrich theoretical research on human resource management in the public sector.

Abstract

The world of work has undergone major changes as a result of the Industrial Revolution 5.0. Organizations and individuals must quickly adapt to the demands of ever-evolving skills and new technologies. The purpose of this study is to investigate talent management strategies that are useful for addressing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities in this era of disruption. The study identifies the latest trends in human resource management and related technologies by reviewing relevant literature. The results show that improving both hard and soft skills is essential. Hard skills, such as the ability to use digital technology and data analysis, are essential to cope with technological change, while soft skills, such as the ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead, are essential to adapt to new work dynamics. Foreign language proficiency is increasingly important if you want to collaborate and compete in the global market. To apply knowledge and acquire relevant skills, practical training is needed, both inside and outside the work environment. By implementing these strategies, companies can maintain their competitiveness and maximize the potential of their employees in the dynamic technological era. To ensure long-term success, companies must adopt a proactive approach to their talent development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of plastic bag reduction policies by communities and business actors in support of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Barru Regency. The research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that public awareness of the environmental impacts of plastic bag usage is increasing; however, challenges remain in maintaining consistent behavioral change and ensuring the availability of eco-friendly alternatives. Business actors show varying degrees of support depending on the type of business and their understanding of existing regulations. The local government has issued policies to promote plastic reduction, although enforcement and public outreach efforts are considered insufficient. The implementation of this policy contributes to the achievement of SDG Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production) and Goal 12 (climate action). Collaboration among the government, businesses, and communities is identified as a key factor in fostering behavioral transformation and creating a more sustainable environment.

Abstract

This paper highlights the contemporary issue of gender-based violence that occurs in the digital space, especially in the form of a crime known as morphing. Morphing is actually a technique in the field of digital technology that initially did not have a criminal connotation, but was used legally in industries such as film to create certain visual effects - namely by changing the character or shape of an image from one form to another. However, the development of this technology has also opened up opportunities for misuse by irresponsible parties. The morphing technique is now often used for actions that are detrimental and demeaning to the dignity of victims, especially women. The perpetrators usually edit or manipulate the victim's personal images or videos without their knowledge and consent, and combine them into pornographic visual content. This modification is then distributed with the intention of blackmailing, intimidating, or destroying the victim's reputation in the public eye. The main focus of this study is how forms of legal protection can be applied to women as victims of morphing crimes, especially based on the regulations contained in Law Number 12 of 2022. This study aims to provide an analysis of these legal provisions within the framework of creating a fair and socially just justice system, as well as making related articles a strong legal basis.
