Abstract

Activated carbon from ketapang shell (Terminalia Catappa) has been successfully synthesized using dehydration-carbonization method. Activated carbon was conducted by immersing with sulphuric acid and followed by carbonization at 600oC for 2 hours. Pore characteristics were determined using imageprocessing methods of activated carbon micrographs based on parameters of area and caliper length. From the area approximation method obtained that the maximum pore size estimate was 5,69 μm at activator concentration 3% while the minimum was 4,88 μm at activator concentration 11% activator concentration respectively. At the other hands, caliper length approximation method obtained estimation of maximum pore size that was equal to 9,09 μm at activator concentration 3% and its minimum that was equal to 7,35 μm at activator concentration 7%. The porosity of the activated carbon from ketapang shell increased with the increase of sulfuric acid concentration and the highest value reached 24.96%.

Abstract

The implementation of learning, especially Physics, is currently based on the results of observations still experiencing several obstacles. The tendency of passive students and learning outcomes as part of students still shows results that have not been maximal. Based on this fact, this classroom action research was carried out to improve the learning process and physics learning outcomes of students in the fluid material in class XI IPA1 SMA 4 Pekanbaru, using PHET (Physics Education Technology) media. The type of research conducted is classroom action research consisting of 2 cycles, with the subject are students of class XI SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru. Time for the implementation of odd semester 2018/2019 academic year. Data collection techniques used observation sheet instruments for learning activities and fluid material test sheets for physics learning outcomes. Data is analyzed descriptively in percentage representation. The results of the research showed that the learning activities of students had increased from cycle I to cycle II. Furthermore, for physics learning outcomes, students increase from the first cycle to cycle II, with the average results obtained by the good category. Therefore, the application of PHET-based information technology simulation media in physics learning can improve learning activeness and learning outcomes of class XI students of SMA 4 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Science education must be involved in direct experience. Therefore, student must study with finding problem method  not talkative method. Education’s module about vibration and wave in curriculum demand, must be accomplish with experient. Unfortunately, this method are difficult to use because the lack of experient tools to produce measured standing waves like velocity, amplitude, period and frequency. The purpose of this research to develop vibration’s simulation experiement tool. This research are belong to developing research type, because it was used to producing some products, and testing the effectiveness of a product. The experiment was following ADDIE model steps, which were consist of 5 steps to follow such as analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The experiment tools could be used after validated by the expert. After the validation finished, the tools can be tested in the field. The validation result from experiment tools and Student Worksheets already passed the validation from the experts. After tested in the student’s groups, the result were positive and fulfill the criteria practical from students view. Therefore, the tools can be used widely to see its effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of student learning through the application of cognitive learningmodels problem posing in learning basic physics to materials and Vector Magnitude. The subject of thisresearch is the students at class X4 MAN 1 Pekanbaru, amounting to 35 people. Data collection instrumentof this research is to study the cognitive test results. Research data collection at the end of the process oflearning by doing tests of cognitive learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysistechniques including absorption power, the effectiveness of learning, student learning capacity and thecompleteness of completeness objectives of learning in a vector of the amount of material. The results of dataanalysis shows that the average absorption power was 80.6% of students in good categories, and theeffectiveness of learning with the media effectively enough, the completeness of classical learning of studentsis 80% with this category is not complete and the completeness of classical learning goal with 78.6% Thiscategory is not complete. So, the problem of learning models posing for raw materials is a vector quantityapplied to X4 MAN I Pekanbaru students cash terms of cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to improve student learning outcomes by using integrated multimedia learning physics for senior high school or equivalent. This research was conducted at the senior high school (SMA)12 Pekanbaru. The subjects in this study were students of class X IPA 1 with 36 students consisting of 16 male students and 20 female students. The study was conducted in two cycles and consisted of 8 meetings with the details of the first cycle consisting of three meetings and three times quiz and one daily test (UH) and the second cycle consisted of four meetings consisting of three meetings and three times a and one dayly test. Each cycle is analyzed and feedback and repairs are needed. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there was an increase in individual completeness in the 1st cycle. 40.41% at quis-1, 51.65% at quis-2 and 90.81% at quis-3. Likewise, the second cycle. 80.25 in quiz-1, 85.75% in quis-2 and 90.00% in quis-3. Based on these results it was found that the increase in individual completeness in the 2nd cycle was higher and more stable. This shows that the results of individual completeness during learning both cycle-1 and cycle-2 have increased, but the increase in cycle-2 is more linear. These results indicate that learning using integrated multimedia can improve student physics learning outcomes.

Abstract

A take home experiment's kit has been developed in order to help junior high school students to increase their scientific skills and attitudes. Scientific skills that consist of science process skills and manipulative skills, and scientific attitudes of students can be developed only through hands on activity in observing science objects or phenomena and experimenting. By using this simple experiment's kit, students can be able to conduct their home experiments whenever and wherever. What they have done in their experiments and what their experiment's finding will be discuss in classroom with their science teacher. The purpose of this study was to develop light and optical kits that can used by students for conducting science experiment at home. The development of this take home experiment kit has used ADDIE's model,  one of the instructional design systems. The steps of this development research were: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This take home experiment kit has gone through the stages of expert judgment and practicality testing.
