Abstract

Boccia is a sport for athletes with cerebral palsy that requires high accuracy and consistency. The ability to place the ball as close as possible to the jack is the main measure of victory. This study aims to analyse the impact of applying structured drill training methods on improving the ball placement skills of Indonesian national Boccia athletes on the left and right targets. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test single group design and a repeated measures design. The research sample consisted of 10 elite Indonesian national Boccia athletes who were preparing for international championships. Data collection tools were carried out using a Boccia ball throwing skill test on athletes with cerebral palsy. The data were analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27 software with repeated ANOVA tests. The results of the tests in the subject effects table showed differences in the pre-test and post-test mean data for ball placement skills on the jack on the left and right targets, with a sig. value of p<0.05. These results indicate that Boccia athletes were able to place the ball on the jack accurately and consistently after the intervention. From these results, it was concluded that structured drill training was effective in improving ball placement skills on the jack in Indonesian national Boccia athletes. These findings provide practical guidance for coaches in designing periodic training programs and for future researchers to integrate psychological factors such as competition anxiety into training interventions

Abstract

Student motivation is a key determinant of engagement and learning outcomes in junior high school Physical Education (PE), yet evidence indicates a decline in motivation during early adolescence. This study aimed to synthesize empirical findings on factors influencing students’ motivation in PE learning. A systematic literature review was conducted on 15 studies published between 2020 and 2025 and indexed in Scopus, Google Scholar, ERIC, and DOAJ. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results reveal that student motivation is influenced by three main domains: pedagogical, internal psychological, and social factors. Pedagogical factors particularly teacher autonomy support, activity variety, and mastery-oriented learning climates emerged as the most influential determinants of autonomous motivation and engagement. Internal psychological factors, such as perceived competence and task value, acted as key mediators, while social support from peers and families strengthened motivation indirectly. This review highlights the importance of student-centered instructional practices in enhancing motivation in junior high school Physical Education and suggests the need for longitudinal and intervention-based research, especially within the Indonesian context

Abstract

Pencak silat is a martial sport that requires high explosive power of the leg muscles to support kick effectiveness, position change, and quick movement response during matches. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of low-intensity plyometric training for six weeks on the power ability of leg muscles in young pencak silat athletes. The sample in this study was 20 male pencak silat athletes at Garuda Silat Academy with an average age of 15.35 years (SD = +- 0.58). This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest–posttest design. Leg muscle power is measured using a standing broad jump. The difference test used a paired samples t-test with a significance level of 0.05 and the data was analyzed using SPSS version 27.0.1.0. The results showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of <.001 which means there was a significant improvement after the intervention, leg muscle power measured using the standing broad jump increased by an average of 13.2-centimeters. In conclusion, six weeks of low-intensity plyometric training using a jumps-in-place model effectively enhanced lower-limb explosive power in adolescent pencak silat athletes. It is recommended that coaches consider incorporating progressively designed low-intensity plyometric exercises into long-term training programs, as they are safe, practical, and appropriate for supporting neuromuscular development while minimizing injury risk in young athletes.

Abstract

Physical education plays a role in promoting students’ motor competence, social interaction, and participation in school learning environments. However, many elementary school physical education classes still rely on teacher-centered instructional approaches that limit student engagement and reduce opportunities for practicing sport skills. This situation often results in limited mastery of football techniques, particularly passing ability, which is a key component of maintaining ball possession and building team play. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model in improving students’ football passing ability. The participants were twenty male third-grade students from SDN Tanggulun 2, Indonesia. The study employed a quasi-experimental approach using a pretest and posttest control group design conducted over ten learning sessions. The intervention involved implementing the Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model during football learning activities, emphasizing teamwork, structured gameplay, and tournament-based interaction. Data were collected using a standardized football passing ability test measuring accuracy, strength, and technique. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, an independent-samples t-test, and normalized gain analysis in SPSS. The results revealed that students who participated in the cooperative learning intervention showed greater improvement in passing ability than students receiving conventional instruction. The experimental group achieved a mean posttest score of 40.00, whereas the control group obtained a mean posttest score of 23.40. These findings confirm that the Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model effectively enhances football passing skills in elementary school physical education

Abstract

Underhand passing is a fundamental technique in volleyball that determines the success of ball control and attack development. At the junior high school level, mastery of this technique is an important indicator in extracurricular coaching. This study aims to analyze the level of underhand passing skills among participants in junior high school volleyball extracurricular activities. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with 20 students selected through purposive sampling as subjects. The research instrument was an underhand passing skill test covering five assessment aspects: body position, hand use, passing accuracy, speed and agility, and body balance. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, expressed in percentages. The results showed that most participants were in the fair to good category, with body position being the most dominant component in the good category. However, the aspects of passing accuracy and body balance still need improvement. It can be concluded that the underhand passing skills of extracurricular participants are at a fairly good level, but are not yet evenly distributed across all technical aspects. This study recommends developing a more specific, evaluation-based training program focused on technical aspects to improve the quality of coaching in a sustainable manner.
