Abstract

Dietary management of patients with diabetes mellitus needs special attention because it can have a direct impact on the instability of blood sugar levels. There are factors that affect the patient's ability to manage their diet. The purpose of this study was to determine sociopsychodemographic factors and the relationship with dietary management of patients with diabetes mellitus.  This research is a descriptive correlative study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was purposive sampling. The research was conducted by giving questionnaires to respondents. The questionnaires used were a characteristic questionnaire, Self Reporting Questionare (SRQ) 20, and Food Frequency Questionare (FFQ). The data from the study were analyzed using logistic regression. The results obtained factors associated with dietary management of DM patients include occupational factors and economic status with a p-value of 0.021 and 0.042 respectively. Other factors including age, gender, education, culture, and anxiety are not associated with dietary management of DM patients (p-value 0.185; 0.855). Dietary arrangements of DM patients obtained most patients have done DM diet in accordance with the recommendations. Sociopsychodemographic factors associated with dietary management of DM patients are employment and economic status. Employment factors and economic status are modifiable factors so these factors become reinforcements for patients in managing the diet of DM patients.

Abstract

One of the discomforts experienced by pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy is feeling nausea and vomiting as one of the symptoms of Emesis Gravidarum. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that hypermesis gravidarum occurs worldwide, with a prevalence of 78.5% of all pregnancies. One therapy that is safe and can be given to pregnant women who experience nausea and vomiting is lemon aromatherapy. This study aims to determine the effect of giving lemon aroma therapy on the frequency of emesis gravidarum (nausea and vomiting) in first trimester pregnant women. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all first trimester pregnant women in the Kedawung Health Center Working Area, totaling 40 pregnant women. The sample used in this study was 38 respondents who were taken using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques used in this study were univariate and bivariate analysis. The chi square test was used in this study in analyzing bivariate to test the hypothesis of this study. The results showed there was a significant decrease in the frequency of emesis gravidarum before and after the use of lemon aroma therapy with a p-value of 0.008. Giving aroma therapy to pregnant women can reduce the frequency of Emesis Gravidarum in the first trimester. It is recommended for pregnant women to use lemon aroma therapy in overcoming emesis gravidarum (nausea and vomiting).

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding, food preparation, and food sanitation are part of parental care patterns that also influence the occurrence of stunting. Stunting is a condition of impaired growth in toddlers due to chronic malnutrition, particularly during the first 1000 days of life. The issue of stunting in toddlers indicates chronic nutritional problems, influenced by many factors including the condition of the mother, the intranatal period, infancy or toddlerhood, and illnesses suffered during toddlerhood, as well as other issues that indirectly affect health. The purpose of this research is to explain and provide an understanding and interpretation of the internal dimension, namely the behavior of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding for toddlers in Jombang District. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach conducted at the Health Office of Jombang Regency, East Java, and Mayangan Health Center. A total of 3 key informants, 11 mothers of toddlers as the main informants, and 1 supporting informant were selected purposively and by snowball sampling. Data collection was done using interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman approach. The results of the study indicate that parental education level, exclusive breastfeeding, and complementary feeding (MP-ASI) are among the factors causing stunting in Jombang Regency, East Java. The impact unrelated to the occurrence of stunting is parental occupation. There are several other internal and external factors causing stunting in Jombang Regency, East Java, such as parental education level, parental occupation, exclusive breastfeeding, and complementary feeding (MP-ASI).

Abstract

In hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) is a worldwide issue due to its low survival rate with survival rate decreases by 10% every minute in the absence of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). All medical staff who are providing care to patients, including nursing students, must immediately begin CPR and call for an activated advanced medical team. With less experience, nursing students find it challenging and demanding to perform high-quality CPR. This study aims to explore the nursing student experience in providing CPR to the patient at the hospital. This study was a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. An in-depth interview with a semi-structural approach was conducted among 10 nursing students at the Manambai hospital. The data analysis used Colaizzi's (1978) seven-step method. The result shows that three themes were identified, regarding nursing stedent experience in performing CPR including : nursing students’ feelings (fear, worry, satisfaction, fearfulness, pride, and stress), challenges (difficulty recognising the difference between real patients and CPR training manikin, and difficulty following certain medical personnel's CPR performance), and the need for feedback from senior medical staff and clinical instructors. The conclusion is nursing students need more practice and opportunities to perform CPR under the supervision of  lecturers and clinical instructors in order to provide excellent and safe patient care. Clinical instructors (CI)  should provide additional opportunities for CPR under CI supervision. Moreover, in order to improve nursing students' CPR abilities and knowledge, lecturers should improve high-fidelity simulation.

Abstract

The Kubu Raya landfill uses an open dumping system in its operations. (This method is no longer recommended for use in Indonesia).  In this research, we describe the conditions surrounding the Kubu Raya TPA using observational methods and interviews with a descriptive approach. We describe landfill operations, infrastructure and facilities, daily waste volume, Kubu Raya landfill resources, remaining land, and service life. We also discuss future landfill land needs. The Kubu Raya landfill uses an open dumping system and does not practice vector control. The leachate collection facilities don't function, and the landfill's existing facilities and infrastructure need improvement. We have 270 m3 of waste entering Kubu Raya landfill each day, with a workforce of 37. The landfill covers 270 ha, and its remaining service life is approximately 300.84 days. In Kubu Raya Regency, it is necessary to consider adding 14.6 ha of land or building a new landfill. We need vector control efforts, infrastructure improvements, and considerations for additional land to make Kubu Raya TPA's waste management more environmentally friendly and efficient.

Abstract

Pregnancy massage is one of the complementary services during pregnancy that is attractive to pregnant women, but not many health workers provide this service. Currently, pregnant women are considering several factors related to pregnancy massage as an alternative service to overcome discomfort in pregnant women. The aim is to explain the dominant factors that influence mothers' behaviour in carrying out pregnancy massage. Quantitative research with cross-sectional design. 203 pregnant women were participating and were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out in March-August 2023. Univariate and bivariate data analysis used the chi-square test and multivariate with the multiple logistic regression test. There were 163 people (80.3%) pregnant women who had good behaviour during pregnancy massage. Several variables that have a significant relationship are sources of information (p=0.023), knowledge (p=0.001), family support (p=0.001), and the role of health workers (p=0.001). Four variables that influence the behaviour of pregnant women are the role of health workers (POR=105.491), sources of information (POR=6.811), knowledge (POR=6.721) and family support (POR=5.836). It was concluded that the dominant factor in this research was the role of health workers.

Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium sp parasites that grow and multiply in human erythrocytes. The incidence of malaria consists of three epidemiological components: agent, host and environmental factors. Risk factors that contribute greatly to the occurrence of malaria are the environmental conditions where humans and mosquitoes live. This research aims to analyze the dominant factors of physical environmental conditions that influence the incidence of malaria in Tuafanu Village, South Central Timor, NTT. The research was conducted with an analytic observational approach with a Case-Control Study approach. The number of samples was 60 samples with a ratio of 1:1, namely 30 cases and 30 controls taken based on purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using secondary data from BBTKLPP Surabaya in 2023. Statistical analysis used chi square test and logistic regression test. There was a significant relationship between house floor, house wall, ceiling and puddle around the house with malaria incidence in Tuafanu Village because the P-value <0.05. In all households, there was no wire mesh in the ventilation of the house. Based on the analysis of the dominant factor of physical environmental conditions that affect malaria in Tuafanu Village is puddles with a p-value of 0.012 and an OR of 0.091, which means that individuals who live in the area around their house there are puddles or stagnant water are 0.091 higher risk of malaria. The OR value < 1 indicates that puddles act as a protective factor against malaria, therefore it is necessary to clean and manage the environment to prevent the presence of water that can become a breeding place for mosquitoes and prevent malaria transmission.
