Abstract

Language is a basic tool of human communication, and listening is one of the four important language skills that allow a person to receive, comprehend, and react to a certain piece of information accordingly. Various multimedia applications have been created to improve students’ English listening skill, such as eBelajar Kota Banda Aceh. However, little is known about the perceptions of students regarding the effectiveness of eBelajar in improving students’ listening skill and the obstacle they face when using this application. Thus, this research attempted to investigate these issues. Seventy-six students were involved as research participants, consisting of 33 female students and 43 male students, selected through a random sampling technique. The data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the percentage formula. The results showed that the students perceive eBelajar Kota Banda Aceh as an effective platform to learn English listening skill, but it occasionally presents a challenge for the students when using it, which is its high dependency on the internet connection and speed. Keywords: Ebelajar, Learning English, Listening Skill, Kota Banda Aceh

Abstract

The lactic acid buildup has long been suspected as a cause of muscle fatigue. Lactate is a waste of anaerobic metabolism; this process takes place in the absence of oxygen. Blood pressure, pulse, and respiration are vital signs to monitor adaptation to fatigue levels. This study aims to determine the effect of aerobic exercise on the level of fatigue and vital signs in athletes. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a non-random re-experimental design. Lactic acid levels and vital signs were assessed before and after the exercise program in 3 groups, namely the light-intensity exercise treatment group, the moderate-intensity exercise group, and the control group. The research site is at the Harapan Bangsa football stadium in Banda Aceh. The subject of PPLP Dispora Aceh athletes. The exercise was carried out for four weeks. The average lactic acid levels of the three groups showed differences. A significant decrease in lactic acid after the training test was seen in the group with OAIS (p = 0.04). Exercise with the right intensity, duration, and frequency can reduce lactic acid levels and vital signs. This study shows that moderate-intensity exercise can affect reducing lactic acid levels and vital signs so that it can slow down fatigue during exercise in Aceh football athletes.  Keywords: Light and Moderate Intensity Exercise, Lactic Acid, Vital Signs.

Abstract

Tracer Study is a service provided by higher education institutions to track alumni who have graduated, which can later be used as an assessment. Accreditation of graduates aims to determine educational output in the form of a transition from the world of education to the world of work. Dikti is currently pioneering the complications of the National tracer study data, especially regarding the transition and job position of university graduates in Indonesia. Tracer study at the University of Serambi Mekkah is considered important because it becomes a tool for evaluating the performance of higher education institutions and becomes an assessment by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The online tracer study has been implemented by Dikti since 2011, but not all universities have conducted an online tracer study system. The Tracer Study of the University of Serambi Mekkah is intended to trace the traces of graduates / alumni carried out 2 years after graduation and aims to find out, educational outcomes in the form of the first job search process, last work situation and application of competencies in the world of work in accordance with the skill areas that have been obtained, output of education is self-assessment of mastery and acquisition of competence, educational process in the form of evaluation of the learning process and the contribution of higher education to the acquisition of competence. Alumni tracking has been carried out by universities through a website-based application at http://tracerstudy.serambimekkah.ac.id. The purpose of this study from the observations that it still has many shortcomings including, the use of functions in the application has not run well as a graduate user and as a solution in this study developing an Android-based Mobile application. The method in this study uses the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) which is written on the development of the website system to the mobile application. By using firebase and android platform, It is hoped that the development of mobile-based applications can make it easier for graduate users to fill I tracer study data. Then the results of functionality and compatibility testing generated by tracer study users. An easy data entry process and a familiar interface will determine the quality and quantity of alumni, and make it easier for the faculty or study program level to determine policies in order to improve the quality of graduates, quality of education and accreditation. The convenience of alumni in accessing applications on the Google Playstore will make it easier for alumni to download and install the tracer study application on their cellphones. Abstract

This research aimed to discover how male and female students used visual hierarchy in their learning videos. There were 7 female students and 6 male students from the English Department, Education, and Teacher Training Faculty engaged in this study. This study used a visual content analysis design and is qualitative in nature. The instruments used were 13 videos produced by the respondents containing teaching material for speaking class. The data collection was carried out through identifying, classifying, verifying, and generating meanings of the visual elements by peering into the visual elements embedded into the video such as style or shape, color, line, space, and scale to create and convey meaning intended. The data were later analyzed using interactive analysis by classifying out the irrelevant data, then displaying the data, to be later verifying them theoretically. The results reveal that, for female students, the style used was generally bright-colored animated visuals with varied textures such as furry animals or glossy cute ladies. The space is rather crowded and the object composition is mostly occupied on the right or left with standard scaling. Lines were used with varied width and weights. For male students, more natural style was engaged, muted colors without the implementation of lines and textures. The spacing is also plain, the object composition is centered, and the scaling is small, no lines were employed. It implies that female students engaged various visual elements in video editing compared to male students. Keywords: Visual, Hierarchy Analysis, Learning Video, Gender Preferences, Design in ELT

Abstract

The progress of a nation is determined by its human resources, the development of resources is closely related to the education process as stated in Sisdiknas Law No. 20 year 2003. The education system and learning system have an important contribution in building human resources and are interrelated with each other. Dayah alumni are known for their docile attitude that has high empathy, often called takzeem, with this strong takzeem value, alumni are very easy to mobilize for the benefit of developing resources, and they are often used for political purposes in the era of regional elections. Therefore, this study aims to find out how to learn the values of takzeen keuguree in traditional Islamic boarding schools in Aceh Province. This research is qualitative involving technique-Data-Gathering, In-depth-interview, observation and documentation. The results of the study show that there are several approaches to Building Knowledge as a source of human behavior based on knowledge and the teacher, Tsawab Tarhib and Targhib approaches, Kuawalat/against guree and special learning for learning the attitude of takzim keuguree.
