Abstract

Semarang City is determined to reduce nutrition problems, especially among school adolescents. Data from the 2018 Riskesdas showed that the percentage of adolescents aged 16-18 years in Semarang City was 2.67% classified as very short, 14.85 classified as short, 0.43% classified as very thin, 11.65% classified as thin, and 6.92% classified as obese. Overview and concerns about health and nutrition in adolescents, especially schoolchildren, are a very important issue. Based on observations at SMA Al Fattah Terboyo, students have never measured their weight and height. This can make it difficult to solve nutritional problems in adolescents because the nutritional status of school groups is rarely monitored. Health screening can be used to anticipate and prevent nutritional problems such as undernutrition and overnutrition. One method that is relatively easy and inexpensive to do is through anthropometric nutritional status assessment that can be monitored regularly. Community service activities were carried out at SMA Al-Fattah Terboyo, Semarang City, with a total of 47 participants. The form of this activity is measuring nutritional status using anthropometric methods. The health screening results showed that the nutritional status of SMA Al-Fattah Terboyo students was mostly in the normal category (38.3%). Meanwhile, based on gender, the majority of severely underweight nutritional status is female (54.5%), the majority of underweight nutritional status is male (62.5%), and the majority of normal nutritional status is female (55.6%).

Abstract

Healthy people have greater opportunities to play an active role in the development of the nation and state, for example people who work as teachers. Teachers who are physically and mentally healthy can certainly play a strong role in creating a positive culture in the school environment. Currently, Tachers pay little attention to their health due to the heavy workload, therefore it is necessary to provide information and counseling to increase knowledge of health and degenerative diseases such as gout. The aim of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge of teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 11 Jakarta about hyperuricemia and carry out hyperuricemia screening through checking uric acid levels as an early detection of gouty arthritis. The method used is an interactive lecture and to check uric acid levels using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between before and after being given health education related to hyperuricemia among teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 11 Rawamangun Jakarta (p<0.05) with a mean before being given education of 65 versus 83. Uric acid levels test showed a higher prevalence of hyperuricemia female teachers are 59%, while male teachers are 44%.

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant health issue, particularly among the elderly, and can lead to severe complications if not managed properly. This community service program aimed to reduce blood pressure in elderly individuals with hypertension through regular hypertension exercises. The program was carried out in Namotongan Village, Kutambaru District, Langkat Regency, in 2024, with 30 elderly participants. The activities were conducted from August to November 2024. Hypertension exercises were performed three times a week for 30 minutes, using YouTube as a guide. The program's goal was to provide accessible and non-pharmacological interventions for managing hypertension, promoting the adoption of a healthy lifestyle through physical activity. Blood pressure measurements were taken before and after the exercise sessions to assess the changes. The results showed a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure from an average of 150 mmHg to 140 mmHg, and diastolic blood pressure from 95 mmHg to 88 mmHg. Additionally, 50% of participants achieved normal blood pressure after following the exercise program regularly. The majority of participants (83.33%) adhered to the program until completion, showing high commitment and enthusiasm for the initiative. This community service program demonstrates that hypertension exercises are an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing blood pressure in the elderly. It highlights the importance of regular physical activity in hypertension management, particularly in underserved areas. The program has shown positive results and can serve as a model for similar initiatives in other regions, contributing to the improvement of elderly health and the reduction of hypertension prevalence.

Abstract

Hypertension poses a significant health concern in various communities, including the rural setting of Asrikaton Village in Malang Regency. This research aims to evaluate and analyze efforts to mitigate the risk of hypertension through medical examinations and counseling on healthy lifestyle patterns in Asrikaton Village. The research methodology employs a mixed-method approach with both primary and secondary data collection. Medical examinations and family counseling take center stage, involving an educational approach to promote healthy lifestyles, stress management, and the cultivation of positive relationships within families. The research findings reveal a high incidence of hypertension, with 60% of the 60 participants affected, underscoring the urgency for serious attention. One approach to address this issue is through educational counseling on healthy lifestyles. The counseling aims to create healthy families by providing necessary information and support, particularly through the dissemination of knowledge and education on healthy lifestyles. This encompasses dietary habits, avoiding hypertension-triggering foods, incorporating regular physical activity into daily routines, and fostering a mindset that minimizes stress. By integrating both medical examinations and counseling on healthy lifestyles, it is anticipated that this program will foster a supportive environment, resulting in healthier families and enabling individuals with hypertension to lead normal and productive lives.

Abstract

Child sexual abuse still has many unreported cases to this day because sexual abuse is still considered very inappropriate to report or publish. The increase in cases of sexual deviation, such as sexual abuse, is caused by the lack of parental awareness in protecting their children.Parents feel ashamed and do not want to talk about sex with their children because of societal taboos surrounding sex.One alternative for teaching teenagers about health and sex, including the introduction of reproductive organ names, is sex education within the family. The sexual education material on self-protection skills was developed by the community service team from various sources. The provision of sexual education, methods, and learning media needs to be considered in order to achieve the goals of sexual education. One of the methods that can be used in providing sexual education is through play-based methods. This service consists of three stages: the first stage is cadre training, the second stage is the implementation of the service by cadres to teachers and parents of students at SDN 79 Prabumulih, and the final stage is the implementation of the service by cadres to first-grade students at SDN 79 Prabumulih. The media used is the Skill Protections Learning (SPL) Program, which consists of the development of the "kance asek" application containing knowledge about preventing sexual violence for parents. The activities ran smoothly and were able to increase the parents' knowledge about the prevention of sexual violence. There is a need to disseminate information about preventing sexual violence against children in order to reduce the incidence of sexual violence against children.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the complications of hypertension. Stroke in Indonesia is the third most deadly disease after heart disease and cancer. The community has an important role in improving health by preventing and promoting health, especially cadres. Preliminaries on the Wirogunan showed that cadres needed assistance in realizing a stroke-free village. The purpose of this community service is to improve cadre skills and awareness in preventing hypertensive complications through screening training and increasing cadres' confidence in providing information to the community with hypertension so that it does not develop into a stroke. The implemented activities include identifying the problems through focus group discussion, introducing strokes, screening training, cadre assistance, and evaluation. There were 23 cadres participating in this activity from RW 8, 9, and 10. The results of community service showed that there is an increase in cadre knowledge, increased skills in conducting screening, and increased self-confidence in cadres in providing education to the community. Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia. Preventive efforts should not only focus on toddlers but must also target adolescents as future parents, equipping them with adequate knowledge from an early age. This community service program aimed to empower university students through the "Mahasiswa Penting" (Students Who Care About Stunting) program, positioning them as educational agents to deliver stunting prevention information to high school and vocational school students in Medan City. The activity was conducted through training sessions for students as educational facilitators and the implementation of interactive health education sessions in schools. The materials covered included an introduction to stunting and the importance of adequate nutrition during adolescence. This program aimed to broaden adolescents’ understanding of stunting, including its causes and how they can actively contribute to its prevention. It also sought to enhance students' communication skills in delivering health information. The activity was carried out in three high schools/vocational schools in Medan, reaching a total of 71 adolescent participants representing each school. The results showed an increase in knowledge, with the average score rising from 52.67 to 77.74. This indicates a significant improvement in adolescents’ awareness of stunting and its risk factors. The program demonstrated that involving university students in stunting prevention can be an effective and sustainable promotive and preventive strategy. It is expected that this initiative can be expanded and replicated more broadly through cross-sectoral collaboration. Keywords: Stunting, University Students, Health Education, Adolescents
