Abstract

Physical education plays a vital role in shaping students’ character through physical activities that foster moral, social, and emotional values. This article aims to examine the role of physical education in character formation, the character values that can be developed, and the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation in schools. This study employed a literature review method, analyzing books, scientific articles, and national and international journals relevant to the topic. The findings indicate that physical education significantly contributes to developing character values such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, sportsmanship, honesty, empathy, and solidarity. The main supporting factors include the competence and moral example of physical education teachers, a positive school environment, the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, and adequate sports facilities. In contrast, the inhibiting factors consist of limited sports infrastructure, teachers’ focus on physical aspects over character formation, reduced instructional time, and the negative influence of digital technology on students’ social interaction. Therefore, physical education must be implemented in an integrated and reflective manner to ensure the continuous internalization of character values among students

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) approach on the mathematical concept understanding of students in grade 2 at Pamulihan 01 Primary School. The background of this study stems from the finding that the learning methods used by teachers are not in line with the cognitive development stages of children, resulting in the students' mathematical concept understanding not developing optimally. This study used a pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design and involved 25 students as subjects. Data were collected through implementation observation sheets, student observation sheets, and pretest and posttest tests. Data analysis was conducted quantitatively. The results showed that the average posttest score (71.04) was higher than the pretest score (63.42). Hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test through SPSS version 16 at a significance level of 5% produced a sig. value of 0.014, which is smaller than 0.05. These findings indicate that the CPA approach has a significant effect on improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts, so H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

Access to education and advances in digital technology have had a significant impact on many communities, but their impact on indigenous peoples is not always immediate. This study aims to analyze how access to education, digital technology, and their interactions influence family structure, communication styles, and gender norms in the Kajang Luar community. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach, using interviews and observation. Data were analyzed using a thematic categorization process to identify consistent patterns in the narrative information. The study findings indicate that education has not changed family structure in Kajang Luar because customary values (Pasang ri Kajang) remain a primary factor in family life. Education is not seen as a driver of change in power relations within the family, but rather as a tool influenced by knowledge and occupation. In terms of digital technology, the Kajang Luar community has selectively adopted mobile phones since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to meet the needs of online education. Although technology facilitates access to communication and information, its use remains filtered according to customary values, resulting in no significant changes in family interactions. In terms of gender, education and technology have not fundamentally shifted the roles of men and women, although there are indications of minor changes in the younger generation due to exposure to external values.

Abstract

Teachers play a central role in determining the quality of education in schools because they are directly involved in the learning process. Optimal teacher performance is influenced not only by individual abilities, but also by organisational factors that shape teacher work behaviour. This article aims to analyse the role of organisational behaviour management in improving teacher performance in schools. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Purwojati. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analysed descriptively. The results of the study show that work motivation, principal leadership, collaborative work culture, a conducive school climate, and a reward system contribute significantly to shaping positive teacher behaviour. Effective organisational behaviour management has been proven to improve teachers' professionalism, commitment, and quality of learning services. These findings emphasise the importance of the role of school management in designing strategies to continuously improve teacher performance in order to support the quality of education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how TikTok social media users communicate, especially in nonverbal communication among Generation Z. This study uses a qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews and observations of friends who are active on TikTok. The data collection method is digital ethnography, which involves participant observation of Generation Z's communication activities, as well as observing and collecting data on how users interact and communicate on TikTok. This study reveals that Generation Z tends to use nonverbal communication on the TikTok platform. They often enjoy videos that match their interests and the latest trends, and create content inspired by what they watch. Although the variety of content they watch is broad, several major trends emerge, including lectures, sports, news, car rentals, policing, preaching, nature, and cooking. Most of the participants in this study were male, but TikTok users still claim to be entertained and inspired by the content they consume.

Abstract

Writing is one of the essential skills that must be mastered by every elementary school student. This study aims to analyze writing difficulties and identify the factors that influence the writing ability of fourth-grade elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, direct tests with students, and documentation. The data analysis technique used qualitative data analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the analysis show that the writing difficulties experienced by fourth-grade students, as seen from their written work, include: letter forms that are difficult to recognize, mixing of uppercase and lowercase letters, omission or addition of letters in words, slow writing speed, and unclear or illegible handwriting. Furthermore, the factors causing writing difficulties include internal factors such as weak fine motor skills, poor memory ability, low learning interest, and learning habits practiced by students both at school and at home. External factors include a lack of parental attention, an unsupportive home environment, surrounding environmental conditions, and the influence of technology.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of assessment and evaluation of mathematics learning outcomes in spatial geometry material in the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Negeri 1 Girsang Sipangan Bolon. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that teachers have implemented formative assessment, practical assessment, and context-based assignments. However, authentic assessment has not been implemented consistently, and assessment instruments still tend to focus on students' procedural abilities, so that contextual abilities have not been optimally explored. The main obstacles in the implementation of assessment include limited learning time, the administrative burden on teachers, and teachers' skills in developing and using assessment rubrics. This study concludes that the implementation of assessment on spatial geometry material has been in line with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, but it still requires improvement in teacher competence and institutional support from the school so that assessment can be carried out more optimally.
