Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using picture series on the ability to write recount texts in seventh-grade students at SMP N 3 Negara and to determine their writing skill levels. In this study, the researcher used a form of quasi-experimental method. The researcher selected two classes, one as the experimental class and one as the control class, using a pre-test and post-test design. The treatment, which involved the use of picture series, was given before the post-test was conducted. The data analysis technique used was the t-test. The research results show that there is effectiveness in using picture series as an aid in teaching recount text writing. The data in this chapter shows that the average score of students' recount text writing skills in the experimental class before using picture series was 65.28, and after the treatment, it increased to 80.28. This indicates a significant difference before and after the treatment. Meanwhile, in the control class that did not use picture series, the average score only reached 55.5. Based on these results, it can be confirmed that the use of picture series is able to help students overcome problems related to writing skills.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of the Grammar Translation Method (GTM) in enhancing students’ vocabulary development through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of relevant studies published between 2014 and 2023. The data were drawn from peer-reviewed journal articles selected using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection followed the SLR stages of identification, screening, and eligibility, while the analysis employed thematic synthesis to categorize findings across studies. The reviewed literature indicates that GTM consistently contributes to vocabulary development through translation activities, explicit grammar explanations, and structured vocabulary lists. Several studies also show that GTM becomes more effective when combined with modern learning media, such as crossword puzzle applications, comic-based materials, and digital resources. Although GTM originates from traditional language-teaching practices, the findings demonstrate that it continues to support vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and linguistic accuracy across diverse educational contexts. Overall, this review concludes that GTM remains a valuable method, particularly when innovatively modified or integrated with interactive media to meet the needs of contemporary learners

Abstract

This study aims to explore the model of religious culture formation at SMP IT Al-Fityan School Gowa through a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through thematic coding with informants: the principal, vice principal for curriculum, 2 teachers, and 3 students. The research findings indicate that religious culture is institutionalized through daily practices such as greetings, dhuha prayer, Al-Qur'an recitation, and special programs such as the Weekend Tahfidz Club and MABIT. The formation process is shaped through structural, formal, mechanical, and organic approaches. Supporting factors include leadership commitment, teacher competence, parental involvement, and facilities, while inhibiting factors consist of student involvement, technology use, and external influences. This study highlights the role of school culture in promoting religious values and suggests further research on its impact on student character development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the problems and evaluate the implementation of the curriculum in mathematics learning at Deli Murni Bandar Baru Junior High School. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach with mathematics teachers and related parties at the school as the research subjects. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation of the learning process in the classroom, and analysis of curriculum documents and teaching tools, such as teaching modules and assessment instruments. The data obtained were analysed using qualitative analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of the curriculum was quite good in terms of planning, as demonstrated by the teachers' ability to develop teaching tools in accordance with the curriculum requirements. However, the implementation of learning and evaluation was not yet optimal. Teachers still tended to use conventional learning methods and had difficulty in implementing authentic assessment. These findings emphasised the need to improve teacher competence through continuous training so that the implementation of the curriculum could be carried out more effectively and have an impact on improving the quality of mathematics learning

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Understanding by Design (UbD) as a framework for the Merdeka Curriculum at Santo Thomas 1 High School in Medan. This study uses a descriptive approach with a mixed qualitative and quantitative design. Research data were collected through interviews with teachers, observations of teaching and learning activities, analysis of teaching materials, and measurement of teachers' perceptions using a Likert scale questionnaire. Qualitative data were analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while quantitative data were analysed descriptively to determine the categories of UbD implementation levels. The results showed that UbD implementation was in the good category, especially in the planning and formulation of learning outcomes stages. However, the learning implementation and assessment stages still needed improvement because they were not fully consistent with the backward design principle. Overall, UbD played an important role in strengthening the quality of learning planning in the Merdeka Curriculum, but further assistance was still needed to optimise its application in all stages of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of transformational leadership in optimizing human resource (HR) management in Islamic educational institutions. The main issue examined is how transformational leadership style, with inspirational, motivational, and spiritually-based characteristics, can contribute to the effectiveness of HR management systems in Islamic education, which have so far tended to be administrative and less strategic. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach, analyzing various literature from 2020-2025 and previous research related to leadership, HR management, and Islamic values in education. The research results indicate that transformational leadership plays a significant role in improving teacher performance, building a collaborative and innovative work culture, and strengthening the integration of Islamic values in every aspect of human resource management. Additionally, transformational leadership can serve as an effective model for realizing adaptive, innovative, and quality-oriented HR management. This study recommends that future research develop an empirical model that examines the relationship between dimensions of transformational leadership and HR performance indicators in Islamic education across various types of institutions, such as madrasahs, pesantrens, and modern Islamic schools.
