Abstract

Stress is one of the significant psychological problems among medical students undergoing clinical internship (koas). This condition can be triggered by academic demands, clinical practice burdens, and social interaction dynamics in the educational and healthcare environments. One factor that is thought to be related to the stress levels of koas students is the social support they receive from their surroundings. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and stress levels among general medical coas students in West Sumatra. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data collection was conducted using a Likert scale through the Medical Student Stressor Questionnaire (MSSQ), which consisted of 39 statements, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), which consisted of 11 statements. The research sample consisted of 113 medical students. Data analysis was performed using Spearman's rho correlation test. The hypothesis test results showed a correlation coefficient of −0.794 with a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate a strong negative relationship between social support and stress levels among medical students in West Sumatra, meaning that the higher the social support received by students, the lower their stress levels, and vice versa.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of agricultural biotechnology in improving the productivity, quality, and resilience of food crops as an effort to support sustainable agriculture. The method used is a systematic literature review of relevant national and international journal articles published between 2014 and 2025. The literature was analysed descriptively by grouping the findings based on aspects of increased productivity, crop quality, and crop resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. The results of the analysis show that the application of biotechnology, such as genetic engineering through CRISPR-Cas9 and Agrobacterium transformation, tissue culture, and the use of functional microorganisms such as PGPR and mycorrhiza, has been proven to increase crop yields, improve nutritional content through biofortification, and increase crop resistance to pests, diseases, and environmental stress. These findings confirm that biotechnology has a significant contribution in producing superior plant varieties that are more adaptive and environmentally friendly. Thus, the integration of biotechnology into agricultural systems has the potential to become an important strategy in supporting food security and sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate an integrative model based on ontology, epistemology, and axiology (OEA) as a philosophical foundation for pesantren scientific management that is relevant to curriculum development and Islamic educational practices in the modern era. The research uses a library research approach with a layered philosophical hermeneutics method through a triple hermeneutic circle. Data sources include classical Islamic works, namely Iḥyā’ ’Ulūm al-Dīn by al-Ghazālī, Muqaddimah by Ibn Khaldun, Prolegomena by Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, and the concept of Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah al-Shāṭibī, as well as 27 reputable scientific articles from the Scopus and SINTA databases ranked 3–6 published in the period 2019–2025. The results of the study show that pesantren scientific management is built on the integration of three main dimensions: ontological, which views knowledge as a unity of revelation, reason, and spirituality; epistemological, which emphasises scientific transmission based on sanad, scientific rigour, and epistemic awareness; and axiological, which is oriented towards character building and social responsibility. The resulting OEA model provides a conceptual and operational framework for the development of a holistic curriculum, relational pedagogy, and pesantren management that is adaptive to global and digital dynamics

Abstract

Career maturity is a crucial aspect of vocational education, especially for vocational high school (SMK) students who are in the transition phase from school to work. Various studies show that many SMK students still have low levels of career maturity, characterised by unclear career planning, limited career exploration, and difficulties in career decision-making. This condition emphasises the importance of career guidance services in schools. This study aims to analyse the role of career guidance services in improving the career maturity of SMK students. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach to national and international scientific articles published in the last ten years. Data were collected through the Google Scholar, ERIC, Scopus, and Garuda databases, then analysed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that career guidance services contribute positively to improving the career maturity of vocational high school students, particularly in the aspects of career planning, career exploration, decision making, affective readiness, and career adaptation skills. These findings also reveal that the effectiveness of career guidance services is greatly influenced by the quality of implementation, suitability to the characteristics of vocational education, and policy and school environment support

Abstract

Degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, are global health problems with increasing prevalence and economic burden. This study aims to analyse the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in accelerating the drug discovery process, particularly in the development of targeted therapies for degenerative diseases. The research method used is a systematic literature review of national and international journal articles published between 2019 and 2024. The data were analysed qualitatively by examining the contribution of AI at various stages of drug discovery. The results of the study show that AI plays a significant role in molecular target identification, virtual screening, drug repurposing, and drug candidate optimisation, with a prediction accuracy rate ranging from 70–85%. The application of AI is reported to reduce drug discovery time by approximately 50% and development costs by up to 40%. The conclusions of this study confirm that AI is a strategic tool in modern pharmaceutical biotechnology development, although its implementation still requires further experimental validation, standardisation, and adequate data availability, particularly in the context of drug development in Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fermentation duration on the bioethanol yield and to determine the optimal fermentation time using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. The research method involved several main stages: preparation of banana peel samples, acid hydrolysis (using H₂SO₄) to convert polysaccharides into glucose, and anaerobic fermentation. The fermentation times used in this study were 3, 5, 7, and 9 days with a constant concentration of Saccharomyces cerevisiae inoculum. The bioethanol content was measured using a distillation method followed by alcohol content measurement using an alcohol meter or gas chromatography (GC). The results showed that fermentation time had a significant effect on the bioethanol yield. The bioethanol content increased until it reached an optimal point on the 5th day (or adjust according to your data) with a content of ...%, and tended to decrease at longer fermentation times due to the depletion of nutrients in the medium and the accumulation of by-products that inhibited yeast growth. Based on these results, it can be concluded that banana peel waste is effective for use as a bioethanol substrate with an optimal fermentation time of 5 days.

Abstract

Glucose syrup is a product of starch hydrolysis that is widely used in the food industry and other industrial sectors. Currently, the production of glucose syrup is predominantly carried out through enzymatic processes due to their higher efficiency and environmental friendliness. Amylase enzymes play a crucial role in converting starch into simple sugars. This study aims to describe the role of amylase enzymes at each stage of glucose syrup production based on a literature review. The research method employed is descriptive research using a literature study approach, involving data collection from scientific journals, books, and other relevant literature sources. The data were qualitatively analyzed by examining the function of amylase enzymes during the liquefaction and saccharification stages. The results of the review indicate that α-amylase plays a role in the liquefaction stage by breaking down starch into dextrins, while glucoamylase functions in the saccharification stage by converting dextrins into glucose. The use of amylase enzymes can enhance process efficiency and produce glucose syrup with a higher glucose content. Therefore, amylase enzymes play an essential role in determining the success of enzymatic glucose syrup production.

Abstract

The largest contributor to waste generation in Indonesia comes from household organic waste, which has the potential to pollute the environment if not managed properly. Conventional biotechnology utilises the activity of natural microorganisms to process organic waste into useful products, making it a relatively simple and easy-to-implement alternative for household waste management. This article aims to review various methods of domestic organic waste treatment based on conventional biotechnology. The method used is a literature study of relevant research results and scientific publications. The results of the study show that composting, liquid organic fertiliser production, and eco-enzyme production are effective methods in reducing the volume of household organic waste. Microorganisms such as Lactobacillus sp. and decomposing fungi play an important role in converting organic waste into nutrients for plants and natural cleaning fluids. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of conventional biotechnology has the potential to support sustainable household organic waste management while reducing the impact of environmental pollution.

Abstract

This study examines speech act learning as part of pragmatic studies in Indonesian language learning through the application of role-playing methods. The background of this study stems from the condition of Indonesian language learning in schools, which still tends to emphasise internal aspects of language, such as structure and linguistic rules, so that students' communicative abilities in real contexts have not developed optimally. The purpose of this study is to describe the urgency of teaching speech acts and the effectiveness of role-playing methods in improving students' pragmatic competence. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach to various theoretical sources and relevant previous research results. The results of the study show that speech act learning plays an important role in helping students understand the meaning of speech contextually and increasing their awareness of the principles of politeness in language. The role-playing method is considered effective because it provides opportunities for students to practise speech acts in communication situations that resemble real-life conditions. Thus, speech act learning through the role-playing method not only improves communicative language skills but also contributes to the development of empathy, social awareness, and polite character in communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of management audit systems in increasing sales at Indomaret stores. Management audits are used as an evaluation tool to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of operational activities, particularly in the sales function. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a focus on examining the management audit process and its implications for sales performance. Research data was collected through direct observation of store operational activities, in-depth interviews with management and employees, and documentation studies related to audit reports, sales data, and standard operating procedures. The data obtained was analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages. The results showed that the implementation of a good management audit system was able to identify various operational weaknesses, such as inventory management, product arrangement, customer service quality, and the level of compliance with SOPs. These audit findings form the basis for management in formulating corrective actions that contribute to improved sales performance. Thus, the management audit system plays an important role as an internal control tool in improving the sales effectiveness and competitiveness of Indomaret stores.
