Abstract

Butterflies in nature provide benefits to the process of pollination and flower fertilization. Ecologically, it contributes to maintaining ecosystem balance and enriching biodiversity. The aim of this research is to identify the diversity of butterfly species in the Tiga Bidadari waterfall area and identify their food plants. The data collection method uses the Time Search method, namely an inventory method with observation plots not limited by a certain distance or area, but rather time (minutes). The data obtained will be analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index, relative abundance and dominance index. The research results showed that there were 15 species of butterflies ( 5 families ) namely, the Nymphalidae, Lycaenidae, Pieridae, Hesperiidae, and Papilionidae. The number of individuals is 90 individuals with a diversity index value of H' ꞊ 2.46 (medium diversity category). Based on the relative abundance of the species, Danaus genutia is the most common type of butterfly found in the Tiga Bidadari Waterfall area. A butterfly dominance index of 0.10 indicates that the butterfly species is not dominant. The food plants found consist of 12 types. The presence of butterflies in the Tiga Bidadari Waterfall area is influenced by food plants.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to employ a spatial metric approach to analyse land cover/land use patterns in the Wae Riuapa watershed from 2015 to 2022. This study was carried out using two levels of analysis. First, a spatial analysis utilising Geographic Information System (GIS) software was used to identify the land cover/land use classes at the research locations in 2015 and 2022. Landsat 8 imagery from 2015 and Landsat 9 imaging from 2022 are the data used. Using spatial metrics techniques, the second step of analysis in this study examined spatial patterns of land cover and land use. With an area of 15184.70 Ha in 2015 and 13587.09 Ha in 2022, secondary dryland forests led the land cover/land use class, according to the statistics. Density and continuity are seen to be declining in spatial patterns, whereas fragmentation indicators are rising. This demonstrates that because of the fragmentation of the greatest land cover/land use class resulting from several land use conversion activities, the spatial link between patches tends to be disconnected and the distance between clusters rises.

Abstract

Tegal Yoso Village in Purbolinggo District, East Lampung, is the focus of empowerment by the TNWK Center through the Wana Karya Forest Farmers Group (KTH). Research in this village, carried out from 15 May to 13 June 2023, aims to identify the food types of Heterotrigona itama bees, understand feeding and communication behavior, and assess the economic value of selling bees and their impact on the economy. Villages were chosen because they represent communities that have significant bee logs. Apart from KTH, people can buy bee logs from individuals for around Rp. 750,000.00, or using trees with bee hives that are not used by the land owner, and can even obtain bee colonies by breaking them down. Explanation of the division of tasks in Heterotrigona itama bees, namely the Queen Bee Strata. The main task of the Queen Bee is to be responsible for reproduction in the bee colony. It is a female bee that was specially developed to be the leader of the colony. The Queen Bee's duties include laying eggs.

Abstract

Setapuk Mangrove tourism has the potential to be developed into natural tourism because it has the potential in the form of natural scenery, rainbow bridges and mangrove areas with various attractions and tourism infrastructure. The purpose of the study was to explain the perception and satisfaction of visitors to the attractiveness of Setapuk Mangrove tourism through available facilities. The method used a survey with 50 visitors as research informants selected by accidental sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation and interviews using a list of questions. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. Visitors' perception of the Setapuk Mangrove tourism area feels interested and quite satisfied with tourist objects in the form of natural scenery, flora, fauna, beaches, rivers and roads/tracks. It is also supported by the condition of facilities, cleanliness, comfort, safety and satisfaction of visitors as well as the physical condition of tourist facilities and infrastructure that are available or well maintained. It is supported by several tourism activities that get satisfied assessments by visitors, namely when observing mangrove beaches by speedboat. Accessibility conditions that are not supportive and physical conditions of infrastructure that are not good are basically weaknesses as well as advantages, because accessibility in muddy conditions will get more attention from visitors/researchers with educational purposes that require elements of unity with nature so that these conditions remain original, so this area has potency for ecotourism

Abstract

Social forestry is a scheme chosen by the government to improve community welfare by providing legal access to communities to manage forests. One of the social forestry schemes implemented in Kulon Progo is Community Forestry. This scheme has great potential to be developed with a multi-use forestry management model. Therefore, a review of the silvicultural aspect is needed to understand the forest management model currently implemented. This research aims to identify tree species, planting patterns and silvicultural systems implemented by Community Forestry at Production Forests in Kulon Progo. The research was conducted from August to October 2023 in Plot 17 and Plot 19 of RPH Kokap, BDH Kulon Progo-Bantul. Observations were made by making measurement plots of 20 m x 40 m of each plot and then recording the name of tree species, coordinates, height, diameter, height without branches, and canopy width. The data were then analyzed using Spatially Explicit Individual-based Forest Simulator (SexI-FS) software version 2.1.0. to see the projected planting pattern. The results of the research showed that tree species planted in the Community Forestry were teak (Tectona grandis), acacia (Acacia mangium), mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp.), paperback (Melaleuca leucadendron), and jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus ). These species were planted using a mixed planting pattern with the silviculture system of selective logging with artificial regeneration.
