Abstract

Cargo operations on aging general cargo vessels like MV. Hodasco 19 (built 1984) face heightened occupational accident risks due to equipment degradation, unsafe worker behaviors, and gaps between ISM Code procedures and field practices. This study aims to apply Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to identify accident potentials during cargo operations and formulate preventive measures. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, purposive sampling targeted the Chief Officer as key informant from MV. Hodasco 19 crew during Teluk Bayur-Belawan routes. Instruments included semi-structured interviews, observation sheets, and photographic documentation, analyzed via Miles and Huberman's reduction-presentation-conclusion model with risk matrix assessment. Findings reveal 75% of activities (lifting operations, wire rope inspection, worker positioning, night operations) classified as high risk (scores 15-20). Conclusions recommend mandatory written JSA implementation, crew-stevedore training, and routine equipment inspections to achieve zero accidents per maritime standards.

Abstract

Position deviations in Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems on offshore support vessels like AHTS OPS Aqeela threaten Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) operation safety during subsea inspections. This study analyzes the partial and simultaneous effects of internal factors (engine load, thruster load) and external factors (current speed, wind speed) on DP deviation. Employing a quantitative inferential approach with multiple linear regression, data were sourced from 90 purposive samples of DP View Print records (every 30 minutes over 5 days in May 2025 at Bukit Tua Field). Instruments included Bridgemate MT printouts, analyzed via SPSS for classical assumption tests, t-test, F-test, and R². Results reveal current speed significantly influences deviation positively (t=6.273, p=0.000), while others do not partially; simultaneously, all variables are significant (F=10.341, p=0.000), explaining 32.7% variance. Current speed dominates due to hydrodynamic forces on hull and umbilical, with internal loads acting reactively. Recommendations prioritize current monitoring for enhanced safety.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media and price perception on consumer purchase intention with brand image as a mediating variable at UMKM Kampung Lauk Palangka Raya. The research method employed a quantitative approach using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis on 97 respondents who are consumers of UMKM Kampung Lauk. The results show that social media has no significant effect on brand image (t-statistic 0.420, p-value 0.675), but has a significant negative effect on consumer purchase intention (t-statistic 2.447, p-value 0.014). Price perception has a very strong positive effect on brand image (t-statistic 11.313, p-value 0.000) with a path coefficient of 0.801, but does not directly affect consumer purchase intention (t-statistic 0.105, p-value 0.917). Brand image significantly and positively influences consumer purchase intention (t-statistic 3.339, p-value 0.001) with a path coefficient of 0.489. Mediation testing indicates that brand image does not mediate the influence of social media on purchase intention (Direct-only nonmediation), but fully mediates the influence of price perception on consumer purchase intention (Indirect-only mediation) with a coefficient of 0.392. This study concludes that brand image is a highly dominant key factor in increasing consumer purchase intention, and positive price perception must first establish a good brand image before it can drive purchase intention. UMKM Kampung Lauk needs to optimize its social media strategy and maintain price consistency with product quality to strengthen brand image and increase consumer purchase intention.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of financial literacy on financial decision making with financial behavior as a mediating variable. The main problem addressed in this research is the inconsistency of individual financial decisions despite having access to various financial products and services. The objective of this study is to analyze the direct effect of financial literacy on financial decision making, the effect of financial literacy on financial behavior, the effect of financial behavior on financial decision making, and the mediating role of financial behavior in the relationship between financial literacy and financial decision making. This research uses a quantitative approach with data collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares approach, supported by SmartPLS software. The results show that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on financial decision making. Financial literacy also has a positive and significant effect on financial behavior. Furthermore, financial behavior positively and significantly influences financial decision making. The indirect effect test indicates that financial behavior partially mediates the relationship between financial literacy and financial decision making. These findings suggest that improving financial decision quality requires not only adequate financial knowledge but also the development of positive financial behavior. The study concludes that financial behavior plays an important role in translating financial literacy into better financial decision making.

Abstract

Anxiety is a common psychological response among nursing students, particularly before Objective Structured Clinical Assessment (OSCA), which evaluates practical clinical competence. Excessive anxiety can impair concentration, emotional regulation, and academic performance. This study aimed to examine the effect of drawing and coloring art therapy on anxiety levels before OSCA among Diploma III Nursing students at Pelamonia Institute of Health Sciences Makassar. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest posttest design. The population consisted of all Diploma III Nursing students of the 2024 cohort, with a sample of 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and Paired Sample t-Test after normality testing. The results showed a significant decrease in mean anxiety scores after the intervention across three consecutive days, with statistically significant differences between pretest and posttest measurements (p < 0.05). Drawing and coloring activities provided relaxation effects and facilitated emotional expression, contributing to reduced anxiety levels. In conclusion, drawing and coloring art therapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention to reduce pre-OSCA anxiety among nursing students and can be integrated into academic preparation programs to support students’ mental health and clinical readiness.

Abstract

Work safety aboard merchant ships remains critical as occupational accidents frequently occur due to inadequate implementation of safety procedures. This study aims to identify the factors causing the suboptimal application of the Permit to Work (PTW) system on board MV. Medelin First, analyze its impact on safety, and formulate optimization strategies. A qualitative descriptive method was employed with purposive and snowball sampling involving 5–7 ship crew members as participants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Results show that PTW documents were formally prepared but not consistently implemented in practice, particularly in gas testing, supervision, and personal protective equipment usage. The findings indicate that these inconsistencies elevate accident risks during high-risk tasks such as hot work and enclosed space entry. The conclusion emphasizes that PTW optimization requires strict supervision, adequate safety equipment, integrated risk assessment, and regular safety training to build an effective safety culture on board.

Abstract

The increasingly intense competition in the beauty service industry requires companies to continuously build customer loyalty. This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of promotion and price perception on customer loyalty, with customer satisfaction as a mediating variable at Yopie Salon Kota Palangka Raya. The research employed a quantitative explanatory approach involving 97 respondents selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using SEM-PLS (Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares). The findings indicate that promotion and price perception have positive and significant effects on both customer loyalty and customer satisfaction. However, customer satisfaction does not have a significant effect on customer loyalty and does not mediate the relationship between promotion and price perception and customer loyalty. These results suggest that customer loyalty is more directly influenced by promotion and price perception rather than through the mechanism of customer satisfaction.
