Abstract

Pekalongan City is famous as the world's batik city which is a world heritage site determined by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) on October 2, 2009. The development of the industry in both Pekalongan City and regency encompasses not only large-scale operations but also small and medium-sized enterprises. This is influenced by the increasing demand for batik both nationally and internationally. The impact of this increase causes an increase in workload and health problems. One of the problems that arise in batik workers is musculoskeletal complaints and increased physiological loads so that it can reduce worker productivity. Promotive and preventive measures can be implemented through workplace training programs. The training program provided to minimize these problems is by doing stretching and breathing exercises during their break times. By paying attention to the health of batik makers, it can maintain the sustainability of the batik industry in Pekalongan City. This study aims to help reduce musculoskeletal complaints of batik makers and increase their productivity by offering breathing exercises and active stretching exercises. This research is experimental research, using the same subject design (treatment by subject design). The number of research subjects 24 people. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, the average musculoskeletal complaint was significantly different between periods 1 and 2 with t=18.574and p value 0.000 (p<0.05). The average increase in productivity with a work pulse obtained t value = 4.956 and p value 0.000 (p <0.05). The results showed a significant decrease in musculoskeletal complaints and batik worker productivity in period 1 and period 2. Active stretching and breathing exercises for batik workers are urgently needed to reduce musculoskeletal complaints and a decrease in work pulse, which means it can reduce the physiological workload of batik workers so that it affects the health status of batik workers which in turn increases the productivity of batik workers.

Abstract

This study analyzes the development strategy of the Karangasem shipbuilding business using the PEST (Political, Economic, Social, Technological) and Porter’s Five Forces frameworks. The Covid-19 pandemic significantly impacted the shipbuilding industry, leading to disruptions in licensing, decreased orders, and reduced workforce numbers. Changes in governmental policies have shifted ship legality from regional to central authorities, exacerbating production challenges. Entrepreneurs often built ships without confirmed orders (Idle Stock), increasing operational costs and causing financial strain due to raw material wastage and labor expenses. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method to evaluate internal and external business environments using the PEST and Porter’s Five Forces frameworks. The results indicate intense competition among similar industries, high production costs, and challenges from new entrants influenced by government policies. Recommendations include strategic improvements through differentiation, cost management, and leveraging supportive relationships with suppliers and regulators.

Abstract

The research to determine the application of NPK doses and types of planting media and their interactions on morphological characters and yield of Telang plant. The research was conducted in Denasri Wetan paddy field, Batang District, Batang Regency with an altitude of ± 3 m above sea level. The experimental design used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 factors with 3 repeats. The factors tried were the doses NPK (D) and planting media (M). The first factor was the doses NPK (D) consisting of a dose of 7,5 g/polybag (D1), a dose of 15 g/polybag (D2), and a dose of 22,5 g/polybag (D3). The second factor is the types of planting media (M) consisting of soil planting media (M0), soil + sand + rice musk (M1), soil + rice musk + manure (M2), and soil + sand + manure (M3). Data were analysed by the F test and continued with Least Significance Different (LSD) level 5%. Variable analysed were plant height (cm), leaf area (cm2), number of leaves (strands), number of branches (branches), longest root length (cm), root volume (ml), fresh flower weight (g), dry flower weight (g), number of flowers (piece), and time appearance of flowers (DAP). The results showed that the NPK doses were significant different and very significant different in the variable plant height, leaf area, longest root length, root volume, fresh flower weight, dry flower weight, and number of flowers whereas in other variables it was not significant different. The best NPK dose was achieved with a doses of 15 g/polybag (D2). The planting media had very significant different to all variables except the longest root length variable, which was not significant different. The best planting media is soil + rice husk + manure (M2). There was an interaction between the doses NPK and the planting media which was significant different for variable plant height and leave area and not significant different in other variable. The best interaction was achieved at a combination of dose NPK 15 g/polybag with planting media soil + rice husk + manure (D2M2).
