Abstract

The concept of Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is used to describe any computer-based educational systems that provide immediate and personalized instruction and feedback to learners, usually without the intervention from a human teacher. This study examined the availability, accessibility, and utilization of ITS applications for teaching among selected secondary schools in Ilorin, Kwara state. The research was a descriptive type using the survey method. A random sampling technique was used to select 150 teachers from 5 secondary schools in Ilorin, Kwara state. Intelligent tutoring systems are not available to secondary school teachers in the Ilorin metropolis; the reaction of the respondents towards the use of ITS application software for instruction was Positive. From the findings of this study, it was concluded that Teachers do not have access to ITS application for instruction as a result of the availability of ITS instruction application. The implication is that if teachers have access to the ITS application for Instruction it will further foster education security. The study recommends that Government and School administrators should ensure adequate power supply and Internet facilities for easy access and utilization of ITS applications for Instruction in the classroom, also teachers who are not in ICT compliance should be encouraged to study further to meet up with the current technological trends.

Abstract

Early-age childhood language skills are a benchmark for other developmental abilities. Children can express their desires and thoughts to the surrounding environment with expressive language.  One of the barriers to expressive language is the difficulty of articulating consonants. This study aims to formulate a product in the form of developing a phonic song method to improve the articulation ability of children with speech delay. The Research and Development (RnD) research design was used in this study. RnD with a qualitative approach explores information about the objective condition of the subject. A quantitative approach using the Single Subject Research (SSR) experimental method with an A-B-A design to measure the effect of the phonic song method applied to the subject. The research was conducted in three stages, namely (i) preliminary study; (ii) phonics song program preparation, and (iii) phonic song program trial. The results of the study showed an increase in articulation ability in the pronunciation of these phonemes. The pronunciation of the phonemes /l/ and /k/ has increased from phase A1, from abilities 0-8 to 23-27. The pronunciation of the phonemes /g/ has changed from phase A1, from abilities 0-5 to 10 – 16, as well as from phases B and A2. The ability to pronounce the phoneme /s/ changed from phase A1, from abilities 4-12 to 22-24. The increase in ability occurred after receiving an intervention in the form of accompanying phonic song singing. Thus, it is hoped that this research can be a theoretical study in developing methods to improve the articulation of children with speech delay.

Abstract

At this time among Indonesian Muslims, the phenomenon of tasyabbuh is often encountered, such as the celebration of Valentine's Day, the style of dress, birthday celebrations and many more. This study aims to analyze the opinion of Muslim students regarding birthday celebrations as an example of the tasyabbuh phenomenon in everyday life. This study analyzes the law of birthday celebrations in an Islamic perspective. The research method is a mixed method (quantitative and qualitative). The research was conducted in three stages, namely i) distributing questionnaires; ii) in-depth interviews with experts and iii) data analysis. Respondents consisted of 35 active university students in Indonesia and two religious’ teachers in the Padalarang and Cimahi areas, Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that there are two opinions about birthday celebrations. First, there are scholars who allow birthday celebrations as long as they do not violate Islamic law and second, there are scholars who argue that birthday celebrations are prohibited because they resemble Jews and Christians. Both opinions have a strong legal basis derived from the Qur'an and Hadith. By doing this research, it is hoped that every Muslim can be wise about the actions that will be taken by paying attention to the law in an Islamic perspective. Therefore, a Muslim does not just follow a culture without knowing the cause and effect of the act.

Abstract

Gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis is used as analytical tool for volatile and complex mixture samples. Its effectivity and sensitivity to detect the analyte components make it applicable in a wide range of purposes. This technique can be used to conduct quantitative as well as qualitative analysis. Unfortunately, very few, if there are, of publications dedicate the research to give an explanatory report using a step-by-step approach on how to read and interpret the analysis result. Thus, this study is aimed to fulfill the gap on bridging the spectra data output of GC/MS measurement into the light of easy way reading and interpreting its spectra. The research method used both library spectra matching and a priory spectra interpretation on chosen compound samples. The general guideline and application are discussed.
