Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to examine how emotional intelligence, perceived support from the organisation, and satisfaction with one's job can impact the performance of employees, with a particular focus on the role of job satisfaction as a mediator in this process. In total, 227 participants from the workforce of a specific company were involved in the study. Responses were gathered through a survey with closed-ended questions rated on a 1-to-5 Likert scale, indicating differing levels of agreement. Analysis of the data was carried out using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with the use of AMOS software version 22. The findings of the research suggest that: (1) Employee performance is deeply impacted by emotional intelligence; (2) Emotional intelligence plays a role in determining job satisfaction; (3) The perception of organisational support has an impact on performance; (4) The perception of organisational support also influences job satisfaction; (5) Employee performance can be affected by job satisfaction; (6) Job satisfaction acts as a mediator between emotional intelligence and performance; and (7) Job satisfaction also acts as a mediator between perceived organisational support and performance. These findings highlight the importance of establishing a supportive work environment that fosters emotional and organisational well-being to enhance employee performance. The practical implications of this study for human resource management involve developing strategies to boost employee performance by enhancing emotional intelligence and strengthening perceptions of organisational support.

Abstract

Indonesia is still grappling with considerable poverty issues, as more than 24 million individuals are currently living below the poverty line. Central Sulawesi Province is ranked as the 15th highest in terms of poverty levels across the nation, with almost 380,000 of its residents considered impoverished. From 2019 to 2023, this province's poverty rate has demonstrated varying patterns, hovering between 12% and 13%. In response to these conditions, this study seeks to examine how the average duration of schooling, level of open unemployment, and Regional Domestic Product (RDP) impact poverty rates in 13 districts and cities in the Central Sulawesi Province over the period 2020 to 2024. This research adopts a quantitative method using data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Sulawesi. The analysis was carried out through panel data regression using Eviews 12 software. Findings from the research show that, individually, both the open unemployment rate and average duration of schooling have a significant impact on poverty levels, while the growth rate of RDP does not. Collectively, all three independent variables are influential on poverty in the 13 districts and cities of Central Sulawesi Province from 2020 to 2024. These findings highlight the urgency for focused policy measures to tackle poverty in Central Sulawesi Province, with particular emphasis on reducing unemployment and improving the quality of education.

The data collected using documentation method, the analyzed data is secondary data obtained from the Financial Reports of South Sulawesi Province. The analysis is based on five financial ratios: the independence ratio, the fiscal decentralization ratio, the regional original revenue (PAD) effectiveness ratio, the efficiency ratio, and the growth ratio. The findings reveal that the independence ratio indicates that South Sulawesi has achieved financial independence since 2022. The fiscal decentralization ratio has shown favorable outcomes since 2019. The PAD effectiveness ratio is categorized as neutral, while the regional efficiency ratio suggests inefficiency. Meanwhile, the growth ratio reflects a positive trend in regional financial growth after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The agricultural industry continues to be a significant source of employment in Indonesia, surpassing other sectors in terms of job opportunities. This underscores the importance of the agricultural sector in influencing the country's economy. Similarly, in Donggala Regency, agriculture plays a pivotal role in supporting the local economy. This research aims to assess the agricultural sector's impact on economic development in Donggala Regency. The study utilizes descriptive analysis and formulas to examine growth and contributions. The findings indicate that agriculture is a key sector in Donggala Regency, despite its slower growth rate compared to other sectors, as it makes the most significant contribution to the region's economic growth. For this reason, the result suggest that it is imperative for policymakers to focus on enhancing the agricultural sector by making strategic investments in technology, infrastructure, and training for farmers. This will help in maximizing growth rates and economic contributions for the purpose of sustainable regional development.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine how investment elasticity and the size of the working-age population impact the economic development in Parigi Moutong Regency. The study utilises a quantitative methodology, specifically employing multiple linear regression analysis. The data analysed consist of secondary time series data from 2010 to 2023 sourced from the Central Statistics Agency and other pertinent organisations. The findings of the investigation reveal that investment elasticity positively and significantly influences economic growth, whereas the number of productive-age individuals does not have a notable individual impact. Nonetheless, both factors collectively have a substantial impact on economic growth, as evidenced by a 90.8 percent coefficient of determination. These results shed light that enhancing investments plays a pivotal role in advancing regional economic growth, while strategies for empowering the workforce should be tailored more effectively. This study recommends that local governments integrate investment enhancement policies with human resource quality improvement to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically analyse the socio-economic determinants that influence the level of extreme poverty in North Morowali Regency. The main focus of this study lies on three independent variables, namely average length of schooling, life expectancy, and percentage of poor population. Using a quantitative approach, descriptive and verifiable methods were applied to secondary data from 2020–2023 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and related institutions. The analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression accompanied by classical assumption tests and significance testing. The results indicate that all three independent variables significantly influence extreme poverty, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.794. Partially, average years of schooling and life expectancy have a positive and significant effect on reducing extreme poverty, while the percentage of the poor population has a negative and significant effect. These findings indicate that improving the quality of education and health is key to reducing extreme poverty, while high levels of general poverty exacerbate extreme poverty. The implication of this study is the importance of evidence-based regional policy formulation that focuses on comprehensive human development. The originality of this research lies in its approach, which integrates human development indicators into a model for measuring extreme poverty at the district level specifically.

Abstract

This study utilizes a qualitative research methodology, relying on interpretive analysis to explore existential themes in Elif Shafak’s The Island of Missing Trees. Framed through the lens of Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist philosophy, particularly his concept of consciousness of being. The research investigates how characters like Ada, Kostas, and Meryem confront their existence, make choices, and navigate the tension between being and belonging. Drawing on Barnet and Cain’s model of textual analysis, the study incorporates close reading, character development, thematic interpretation, symbolism, and narrative structure to reveal how the novel articulates Sartrean ideas of freedom, responsibility, and self-definition. The analysis highlights how Shafak gives voice to the characters’ internal struggle with identity and displacement, portraying consciousness not as a fixed state, but as a continuous process of becoming. Ultimately, the study demonstrates how literature becomes a vessel for existential inquiry, transforming abstract philosophical ideas into lived emotional realities.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the primary industries that could drive economic development in Tolitoli Regency during 2019-2023. Through the application of Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift-Share Analysis (SSA), this study investigates the competitive strengths of key sectors and their patterns of growth. LQ is utilised to pinpoint the industries that are most prevalent in the region, while SSA evaluates the impact of each sector on changes in Regional Domestic Product (RDP). The findings of the analysis shed light that the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries sector, as well as the Information and Communication sector, display significant LQ scores of 2.09 and 1.89, indicating robust local comparative advantages. These sectors show better growth compared to the national average, despite some local challenges. Conversely, the Mining and Quarrying and Manufacturing sectors show low LQs and are declining, both nationally and locally. These finding reveal a portrait of the sectors that require more attention in terms of policies supporting infrastructure development, technology, and human resource capacity to enhance local competitiveness. This study is expected to enhance regional economic policies by employing data-driven strategies to identify key sectors with the potential to support long-term economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of brand trust and product quality on repurchase intention with customer satisfaction as a mediating variable for Bluder Cokro Madiun customers in the Jabodetabek area. The research design uses an explanatory quantitative approach with a survey method of 400 respondents who have bought Bluder Cokro at least twice. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results reveal that brand trust and product quality have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. Furthermore, customer satisfaction and brand trust have a significant influence on repurchase intention. However, a negative relationship was found between product quality and repurchase intention directly, although the mediation of customer satisfaction strengthened the relationship positively. These findings suggest that customer satisfaction plays an important role in bridging brand trust and product quality with customer loyalty. This research provides strategic implications for local culinary MSMEs to increase customer repurchase intention through strengthening product quality and building brand trust.
