Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth are natural processes, but they are not without risks. Health conditions, mental status and lifestyle can lead to complications, one of which is Preeclampsia. Pregnant women with preeclampsia have high anxiety in facing childbirth, due to the great risks that will be faced by themselves and the baby who is born. An effective way to overcome anxiety is by doing physical exercise, such as prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis. The purpose of the study was to explain the effect of the combination of prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis on the anxiety level of pregnant women with Preeclampsia. Method: Quasi-experimental research, pretest-posttest with control group design. The study population was all pregnant women with Preeclampsia who visited Anna Medika Madura Hospital as many as 40 people, the sample size was 20 people each for the treatment group and control group. Sampling with consecutive sampling. Research instruments Anxiety of each group was measured before and after the intervention, using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaire. Statistical analysis Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney U Test. Results: There is an effect of the combination of prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis on anxiety levels before and after treatment, (ρ: 0.000) and there is a significant difference in momentary anxiety levels between the treatment group and the control group (ρ: 0.000). Discussion: It can be concluded that Prenatal Yoga Gymnastics and Self Hypnosis are very useful in reducing anxiety experienced by pregnant women with Preeclampsia. Movement and relaxation in prenatal yoga exercises can increase the activity of the para-sympathetic nervous system and GABA. It is recommended to provide training programmes in ANC services on methods of reducing anxiety with alternative therapies Prenatal Yoga and Self Hypnosis.

Abstract

Slow learner children are a group of children with an IQ of 70-90 who experience difficulties in adapting, responding to stimuli, and thinking. The impact of these barriers is the inability to perform self-care such as taking care of yourself and brushing your teeth properly. There are 14% of slow learner children in Indonesia and 80.64% of them have poor oral hygiene caused by improper brushing. One effort that can be done is to conduct counseling about brushing teeth using appropriate media, namely pop-up book media and hand puppets. The problem in this research is that the slow learner students' brushing skills are still in the bad category. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of pop-up book media and hand puppets on the teeth-brushing skills of slow-learner students. This type of research is a Quasy Experiment with a pretest-posttest design, with a population of 20 slow-learner students. The data collection instrument used was an observation sheet. The data analysis technique uses the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that there were differences in the effectiveness of pop-up book media and hand puppets on the teeth brushing skills of slow learners grades 3-5 in the inclusion class of SDN Mojo III and SDN Airlangga I Surabaya City after 21 days of observation.

Abstract

Deaf children are children who have hearing loss. They have limitations in terms of communication and lack of knowledge, which causes bad behavior. Behavior in maintaining poor dental and oral hygiene causes poor plaque index values in deaf children. The problem in this study is that the plaque index value of deaf students at SDLB Karya Mulia Surabaya is poor. Plaque control can be done by mechanical and chemical means. Chemical control of dental plaque can be done by gargling. Gargling using natural ingredients such as binahong leaves and betel leaves can help reduce plaque because they contain good antibacterial and antiseptic properties. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in the effectiveness of gargling a solution of decoction of binahong and betel leaves on the plaque index in deaf children at SDLB Karya Mulia Surabaya. The type of research used was a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest design, with 51 students as research subjects. Methods of data collection by way of observation. The data analysis technique uses the Independent Sample T-test. The results showed that the betel leaf decoction solution was more effective in reducing plaque index in deaf children at SDLB Karya Mulia Surabaya than the binahong leaf decoction solution.

Abstract

Antibacterial activity of honey obtained from Specialist Hospital, Sokoto on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli isolated from wound was studied. the results depicting the levels of iron, selenium, zinc, and iodine micronutrients assessed in honey samples collected from three different zones of Sokoto state, Nigeria. Atomic absorption spectroscopy was used to determine Fe, Zn, se, and I as follows: 7.3± 0.5 to 10.11± 0.15 ppm, 0.50 ± 0.01 to 0.60± 0.01 ppm, 2.6± 0.1 to 11.0 ± 0.05 ppm, 0.05±0.001 to 1.30±0.01 ppm are concentration ranges of Fe, Se, Zn, and I respectively assessed from samples of honey obtained from 3 zones of Sokoto. Agar well diffusion method was used to determine the antibacterial activity of the honey on the test microorganisms. The result revealed that the honey samples have heavy antibacterial activities against the test organisms and zones of inhibition were obtained showing high antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity increased with increase in the concentrations and the honey produced a high antibacterial activity (clearer zone) on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli at all concentration. The use of honey as a therapeutic substance has been rediscovered by the medical profession on more recent times, and it is gaining acceptance as an antibacterial agent for the treatment of ulcers and bed sores, and other infections resulting from burns and wounds. Likewise, the honey contains phytochemicals and Zn, Se, Fe, and I micronutrients.
