Abstract

Employee engagement has become a critical determinant of organizational performance in today’s competitive business environment. This article explores the multidimensional nature of employee engagement, encompassing emotional, cognitive, and behavioral components, and examines the factors that influence it, such as leadership practices, organizational culture, recognition systems, and career development opportunities. Engaged employees demonstrate higher levels of productivity, innovation, and loyalty, which directly contribute to improved organizational outcomes. By analyzing both theoretical perspectives and practical strategies, this study highlights how transparent communication, participative decision-making, reward systems, and growth opportunities can enhance engagement. The article also emphasizes the importance of aligning employee goals with organizational objectives, fostering a supportive work environment, and recognizing achievements to sustain motivation. Findings suggest that organizations that prioritize employee engagement not only improve individual performance but also create resilient, high-performing teams capable of achieving long-term strategic success.

Abstract

Grounded in Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Friedman’s Legal System Theory, this study examines the effects of work recognition (WR), work motivation (WM), and career development (CD) on employee performance (EP) with employee engagement (EE) as a mediating variable among judges in Indonesian District Courts. A quantitative approach was employed using questionnaires distributed to 151 judges across Indonesia, and the data were analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS 4.0. The findings revealed that work motivation and career development positively and significantly affect employee performance, whereas work recognition does not directly influence employee performance. However, work recognition, work motivation, and career development significantly influence employee engagement, while employee engagement positively affects employee performance. Furthermore, employee engagement significantly mediates the relationships between work recognition, work motivation, career development, and employee performance. These findings indicate that organizational support, motivation, and professional development are essential in strengthening judges’ engagement, professionalism, and performance within judicial institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of livelihood strategies among the Nendali community in East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, whose subsistence system has historically depended on Lake Sentani's ecosystem and sago palm forests. Over centuries, both natural resources have served not merely as economic foundations but also as cultural anchors and social bonds for the community. However, rapid infrastructure development, large-scale land conversion, and the expanding penetration of market-based economies have forced the local population to fundamentally readjust their livelihood orientations. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, this research finds that a multidimensional shift has occurred from nature-based subsistence systems toward economic diversification involving trade, services, and wage labor. These changes have further implications for gender relations, the continuity of local ecological knowledge, and the effectiveness of customary institutions in managing natural resources. This study underlines the urgency of integrating Nendali's indigenous wisdom with more responsive and socially just regional development policies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reading literacy culture of students at GMIM Kulu Elementary School, Wori District, North Minahasa Regency. This research is motivated by the low reading habits of students and the suboptimal implementation of literacy programs in schools. Therefore, this study focuses on three main issues: students' reading literacy culture, factors influencing it, and the role of teachers and the school environment in building a reading literacy culture. This research employed a qualitative research method with a phenomenological or case study approach. The research subjects consisted of the principal, teachers, and students of GMIM Kulu Elementary School. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was verified through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking. The results of the study indicate that students' reading literacy culture at GMIM Kulu Elementary School still needs improvement. Students' reading habits are still low, and reading activities have not yet become a routine habit. Factors influencing reading literacy culture include internal factors such as students' interest and motivation to read, as well as external factors such as family environment, school environment, and the availability of literacy facilities. Furthermore, teachers play a significant role in literacy activities, particularly in guiding and motivating students to read. However, limited literacy facilities at school remain a barrier to developing students' reading literacy culture. Based on the results of this study, more targeted efforts are needed from schools, teachers, and parents to improve students' reading literacy culture by providing adequate literacy facilities and implementing more structured literacy programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of capital expenditure on regional economic growth in Aceh Province by considering control variables and the Special Autonomy Fund (DOKA) as a moderating variable. The control variables include the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), Human Development Index (HDI), and investment. This study employs panel data covering 23 regencies/cities over the period 2016–2025. The analytical method used is panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM), selected based on the Chow test and Hausman test. Estimation is conducted using robust standard errors (White cross-section) to address potential heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation issues. The results indicate that capital expenditure has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. The HDI and investment variables also show positive and significant effects, while TPT and TPAK are not statistically significant. DOKA has a positive effect on economic growth; however, the interaction between capital expenditure and DOKA shows a significant negative effect, indicating that DOKA tends to weaken the effectiveness of capital expenditure. These findings highlight the importance of improving fiscal governance quality so that capital expenditure and DOKA can be more effective in promoting regional economic growth.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of AI-based multimedia integrated Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on students’ collaboration skills and conceptual understanding in learning the Periodic Table. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 64 tenth-grade students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 32 students in each class. The experimental group was taught using AI-based multimedia integrated PjBL, while the control group received cooperative learning instruction. Data were collected using a collaboration skills questionnaire and a conceptual understanding test. The data were analyzed using MANOVA, Independent Sample t-Test, N-Gain analysis, and Partial Eta Squared effect size analysis with the assistance of SPSS 25. The results showed significant simultaneous differences between the experimental and control groups after treatment, as indicated by the MANOVA test (p = 0.005 < 0.05). The Independent Sample t-Test also revealed significant differences in collaboration skills (p = 0.016) and conceptual understanding (p = 0.008). The N-Gain analysis indicated that the experimental group achieved higher improvement in collaboration skills (0.478) and conceptual understanding (0.393) compared to the control group. Furthermore, the effect size analysis showed medium effects on collaboration skills (η² = 0.090) and conceptual understanding (η² = 0.108). Therefore, AI-based multimedia integrated Project-Based Learning was found to be effective in improving students’ collaboration skills and conceptual understanding in chemistry learning, particularly on the Periodic Table topic.

Abstract

Preliminary observations at SMKN 10 Malang revealed that 40% of students who had completed an industrial work practice still exhibited a lack of readiness to enter employment. This study aims to examine the effect of apprenticeship (industrial work practice) and work motivation on the work readiness of twelfth-grade Welding Engineering students at SMKN 10 Malang, both partially and simultaneously. The research employed an ex post facto design with a quantitative approach. The population comprised 45 students, all of whom were taken as the sample using a saturated sampling technique. The instrument was a four-point Likert scale questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS. The results showed that, partially, apprenticeship experience did not have a significant effect on work readiness (t = -1.284; Sig. = 0.206), whereas work motivation had a positive and significant effect (t = 10.524; Sig. < 0.001). Simultaneously, both variables significantly affected work readiness (F = 94.286; Sig. < 0.001) with a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.809, indicating that 80.9 % of the variance in work readiness was explained by these two variables. These findings confirm that work motivation is the primary predictor of students' work readiness, while apprenticeship experience in the context of this study did not make a significant partial contribution. The implication is that strengthening work motivation should be prioritized in efforts to enhance the work readiness of welding engineering students.
