Abstract

Stunting remains a critical issue in Indonesia due to chronic nutritional deficiencies. This study developed functional biscuits using corn silk and avocado seed flours in three ratios (25:75, 50:50, 75:25) to support toddler nutrition. Nutritional and sensory evaluations showed that the 50:50 formulation was optimal, containing 5.34% protein, 23.98% fat, and 68.01% carbohydrates. Although slightly below the SNI carbohydrate standard (≥70%), it met moisture and ash standards and was preferred in taste, color, and aroma. These findings highlight its potential as a supplementary food to help prevent stunting in early childhood.

Abstract

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA/EIA) is an important instrument in civil engineering infrastructure project planning to ensure that development runs in line with sustainability principles. This study aims to examine the extent to which the implementation of EIA in civil engineering projects in Indonesia has accommodated environmental and social sustainability aspects. With a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies of several major infrastructure projects. The results show that the implementation of EIA is generally still procedural and has not been fully integrated in the technical design of the project. The aspects of community participation and ecological sustainability are often ignored or implemented in a formality. On the other hand, projects with high public involvement and proper utilization of environmental technologies show better quality of EIA documents. This study suggests the importance of increasing the capacity of actors, integrating EIA from the early stages of planning, and strengthening supervision of the implementation of RKL-RPL. With this strengthening, EIA can play a strategic role in realizing infrastructure that is not only functional and economical, but also environmentally and socially friendly.

Abstract

Environmental problems due to increased waste demand innovative and sustainable solutions. This study aims to examine an integrative approach between waste material technology and environmental impact mitigation strategies. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach, through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the use of waste treatment technology, such as making paving blocks from recycled plastics and fly ash-based geopolymers, is able to significantly reduce the volume of waste and produce products with high use value. Environmental mitigation strategies, such as policy incentives and educational campaigns, have been proven to strengthen the implementation of these technologies. The success of integration is also influenced by multi-stakeholder collaboration involving society, academia, government, and the private sector. This approach not only offers technical solutions, but also creates a sustainable socio-ecological system. Therefore, the integration between waste technology and mitigation strategies needs to be continuously developed as part of efforts to realize sustainable development based on resource efficiency, environmental protection, and community empowerment.

Abstract

The use of recycled materials in civil engineering is a strategic approach in realizing sustainable construction. This study aims to examine the types, motivations, challenges, and impacts of using recycled materials in construction projects. The research method used was qualitative descriptive with in-depth interview techniques, field observations, and documentation on several urban construction projects that applied recycled materials. The results of the study show that waste concrete aggregates, recycled plastics, fly ash, and glass are the most commonly used materials. Motivations for its use include cost efficiency and encouragement of environmental regulations. However, the main challenge lies in the inconsistent quality of the material and the limitations of its use in the main structure. However, recycled materials have been proven to have a positive impact on environmental aspects and project efficiency, such as reducing carbon emissions, reducing the use of natural materials, and better waste management. These findings show that the use of recycled materials is not only a technical practice, but also an integral strategy in realizing sustainable development. Policy support, technical standardization, and increasing awareness of industry players are the main keys in expanding its implementation.

Abstract

This research aims to design a local tuber processing plant, especially cassava, into a value-added processed product with a green technology approach. The main focus of this research is on energy efficiency and the application of occupational safety (K3) in the production process. The methods used include literature studies, field surveys, production process design, energy consumption analysis, and work risk identification using the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) approach. The design results show that the plant's energy consumption can be reduced by up to 26.4% through the application of solar ovens and biomass-fueled heaters. In addition, the plant layout system is designed to support process flow efficiency and energy savings through natural lighting. From the aspect of occupational safety, seven risk points were successfully identified and mitigated through technical engineering, safe work procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment. Design validation by experts shows that this design is feasible to be implemented in local tuber center areas and can be a model for a small-medium-scale eco-friendly food industry. This research proves that local food processing can be developed efficiently, safely, and sustainably with an appropriate and contextual technological approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Model on student learning outcomes in Social Studies (IPS) for eighth-grade students at UPTD SMP Negeri 12 Pematangsiantar in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample was selected through purposive sampling: class VIII-4 as the experimental group using the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Model, and class VIII-3 as the control group using the conventional (lecture) method, with 32 students in each class. The research instrument consisted of a multiple-choice test with 25 items, which had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. The validity test showed that all items were valid (r count > r table = 0.349), with the highest validity coefficient being 0.8019 and the lowest 0.3665. The instrument's reliability was 0.807 > 0.396, indicating that the test was reliable. The normality test indicated that both classes had normally distributed data (X² count < X² table), and the homogeneity test indicated that both groups were homogeneous (F count = 1.025 < F table = 1.804). The results showed that the experimental class had an average score of 80 with a standard deviation of 10.36, while the control class had an average score of 74.25 with a standard deviation of 10.10. The t-test revealed t count = 2.21 > t table = 1.67, indicating a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two classes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Jigsaw Type Cooperative Learning Model has a significant influence on student learning outcomes in Social Studies and is more effective than the conventional method.
