Abstract

Intercultural and interfaith marriages are common occurrences in major cities around the world, including Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The problem is that many Indonesian citizens (WNI) and their children lack clear identities and do not receive proper education, especially religious education. This is certainly a phenomenon that deserves attention in ensuring the sustainability of the formation of harmonious, loving, and compassionate families based on Islamic guidance. Therefore, this phenomenon has been responded to by establishing studios that accommodate children who are victims of parents who do not have clear identities. Sanggar Gombak Utara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is one such studio that accommodates children who do not have identities and do not receive proper access to education there. We, through PKM-KI, initiated an activity with the theme “Strengthening Islam and Muhammadiyah for Cross-Cultural Indonesian Families in Sanggar Utara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,” which is a solution we can offer to Indonesian citizens, especially children, in Sanggar Gombak Utara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The objectives of carrying out this activity include: (1) providing religious education for children at Sanggar Gombak Utara Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, (2) providing a forum and facilities for children to provide counseling guidance in order to develop the interests and talents of children at Sanggar Gombak Utara Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The implementation method for this service is carried out by providing religious education for children at Sanggar Gombak Utara Kuala Lumpur Malaysia with various activities such as Ceria Study, Koran Study Studio and Islamic Fun Games.

Abstract

The Indonesian diaspora in Turkey, particularly students and migrant workers, continues to face challenges in Islamic financial literacy as well as limited access to information on investment opportunities in Indonesia through financial technology (fintech). Such conditions may hinder optimal financial management. To address these issues, this community engagement program was designed to equip the diaspora with an understanding of Islamic financial principles and provide education on investment opportunities through fintech platforms, both sharia-based and conventional. The activities were conducted through interactive seminars, discussions, and mentoring sessions delivered in both online and offline formats, in collaboration with PCIM Turkey, the PPI Turkey community, and Gelin as strategic partners. The program adopted a multidisciplinary approach by involving lecturers from the Faculty of Islamic Studies to deliver counseling on sharia aspects of investment. The implementation stages included program planning, partner coordination, site surveys, seminars, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The evaluation results demonstrated an increase in participants’ understanding of Islamic financial literacy and fintech utilization. Program documentation was disseminated through social media, the UMS news portal, and the Muhammadiyah news portal, while a social media group was established as a sustainable channel for communication and follow-up mentoring.

Abstract

Financial literacy education for children is not only limited to introducing money, but also a concept about introducing wise financial management. Children are trained to have the ability to control financial spending. This community service aims to instill the importance of managing finances and instill effective financial literacy values in them. The training was attended by 22 children studying at elementary and kindergarten levels. The method of implementing this community service is awareness by showing financial literacy videos. Participants are given a sum of money which is then asked about the use of the money if they have money. After the screening, it is continued with an explanation and reflection. To determine the understanding of the training participants, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. The results showed an increase in the financial understanding of the training participants.

Abstract

The Kartasura Branch of the Muhammadiyah Economic Council is a division under the auspices of the Kartasura Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership. The Economic Council has several business units, one of which is a goat farming group called Syamsun Farm. Syamsun Farm is a livestock group focused on breeding, buying and selling goats, and processing and selling animal manure. Despite all of Syamsun Farm's potential, it faces challenges such as the ineffective and inefficient processing of organic waste (grass), and the continued use of conventional marketing methods. For example, selling animal manure in sacks, delivering it directly to plant vendors, and offering goats to mosques during Eid al-Adha. Based on these challenges, the P2AD team proposed solutions, including implementing technology using a manure shredding machine and enhancing digital marketing for Syamsun Farm. The outputs of this activity include a manureshredding machine, a module for using and processing animal manure using the shredding machine, the creation of Google My Business, social media platforms, and a marketplace for Syamsun Farm. In addition, video documentation of activities, publications on YouTube and mass media, and nationally accredited journals were also produced.

Abstract

Household organic waste has emerged as a major environmental issue in Dibal Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency, since most vegetable, fruit, and leaf residues are simply discarded, causing unpleasant odors and environmental pollution. This challenge is even more pronounced given that among the 74 active members of the “Sekarwangi” PKK women’s group, 27 work as vegetable farmers and market vendors, making them the primary contributors of organic waste in the form of unsold vegetables and fruits. Paradoxically, such waste holds significant potential to be transformed into liquid organic fertilizer (POC), which is both beneficial for home gardening and economically valuable. This community engagement program was designed to provide practical solutions through technical training, the distribution of anaerobic composters, and continuous mentoring for all PKK members. The implementation consisted of five stages: socialization, hands-on training in POC production using bio-activators, distribution of 74 composting units, weekly fermentation monitoring, and evaluation through product trials and satisfaction surveys. The program demonstrated a remarkable behavioral transformation: from merely discarding waste to actively converting it into valuable products. By the reporting period, three harvest cycles had been completed, yielding a total of approximately 124 liters of POC (equivalent to 8 Le Minerale gallons)—far exceeding the initial target of 50 packages. When converted into commercial packaging, the production amounts to 496 bottles of 250 ml (priced at IDR 10,000, potential revenue IDR 4,960,000) or 248 bottles of 500 ml (priced at IDR 20,000, with the same value). Part of the POC has been utilized for household gardening, while the remainder is ready for commercialization as a community product. This program has proven effective in reducing organic waste, fostering awareness of the green economy, and strengthening the community’s economic independence. Recommendations for future action include product and packaging standardization, enhancement of digital marketing strategies, and market expansion through local bazaars or agricultural partnerships to ensure that the economic potential can be sustainably realized, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to utilize discarded coffee husk waste into fertilizer and animal feed so that it can be reused by the community in Banyuanyar Village, Ampel District, Boyolali Regency. The method used is training for the Berkah Kopi farmer group to make fertilizer and animal feed in a simple and feasible way by utilizing bacteria and machine technology to simplify the process. The results are organic animal feed and fertilizer that can be used by the community themselves. The recommendation submitted by the PKM team is that animal feed already has high protein especially by utilizing coffee husk so it is safe to use as livestock feed and the fertilizer made is also safe because it is all from livestock and agricultural waste so it is safe to use as fertilizer for coffee plantations.

The method of implementing activities includes socialization, training, and assistance in the preparation of simple financial statements. This activity was carried out offline for three weeks by involving business actors from the goods and services business sector. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’understanding of the importance of financial statements as well as their ability to prepare simple income and balance sheets. In addition, participants began to implement regular daily transaction logging. This program is expected to help business actors in increasing financial transparency and competitiveness of their businesses in the future.
