Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Coffee in Indonesia is an important commodity, but excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides increases the levels of heavy metals, such as cadmium (Cd), in the soil, which is detrimental to plant quality and the environment. Phytoremediation with hyperaccumulator plants such as Jatropha can absorb cadmium and persist in contaminated soil. This study aims to study the interaction between mycorrhizal Jatropha plants (Jatropha curcas) and the growth of Liberica Tungkal Composite coffee seedlings (Coffea liberica Bull ex Hiern) on cadmium-contaminated land. Research MethodsThe study was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi for 3 months (June - October 2024) using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two treatment factors: factor C (C1 = 10 ppm, C2 = 20 ppm) and factor K (K0 = Coffee, K1 = Coffee + 1 Jatropha, K2 = 1 Coffee + 2 Jatropha, K3 = 2 Coffee + 1 Jatropha). Each combination was repeated 5 times, resulting in 40 treatments with a total of 120 plants. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and 5% BNT. Finding/Results: The results showed an interaction between cadmium treatment and coffee composition and distance on the variables of total leaf area and percentage of mycorrhizal infection.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study examines Jambi batik as a cultural heritage that has historical, symbolic, and economic value for the Jambi community. The research focuses on the history and development of Jambi batik as a cultural identity, the philosophical meaning and symbolism of its motifs, and its role as a creative economy product. Research Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical research type through literature studies, observations, and interviews. Using C.S. Peirce's Semiotic framework for motif analysis, this study found that the existence of Jambi Batik is the result of a long process of interaction between Malay, Javanese, Arabic, and Chinese cultures. Finding/Results: Jambi Batik motifs such as Angso Duo, Kapal Sanggat, and Durian Pecah contain deep symbolism that reflects the value of local wisdom. These motifs not only function as aesthetic elements but are also classified as conventionally agreed-upon symbols. In addition, the results of the study indicate that Jambi Batik plays a significant role as a creative economy commodity. Batik production makes a real contribution to community economic empowerment, particularly through job creation, MSME development, and market expansion through innovation and cultural storytelling. Conclusion: Overall, this research confirms that Jambi batik is a "cultural gem" that serves not only as a symbol of regional identity but also as a strategic economic asset. Preservation through design innovation, improved production quality, education for the younger generation, and cross-stakeholder collaboration are key to ensuring the sustainability of Jambi batik.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This paper aims to analyze the essential role of Islamic Educational Philosophy (IEP) as a normative and operational foundation in shaping the character of both educators and students. The topic is relevant because character formation is a core objective of Islamic education, which aspires to develop the insan kamil through balanced spiritual, intellectual, and social growth. Background Problems: The main problem examined is how IEP provides a philosophical basis that directs character formation in pedagogical attitudes and educational practices. Novelty (optional): This study emphasizes the dual function of IEPconceptual and practical in shaping educator and student character, an aspect that previous studies have not systematically integrated. Research Methods: This research employs a literature review with a descriptive-analytical approach using primary and secondary sources related to IEP and character education. Finding/Results: The findings show two key mechanisms: (1) IEP offers a theoretical foundation for educators by emphasizing Islamic life goals (sa‘adah al-dārayn) and prophetic attributes ṣiddīq, amānah, tablīgh, and faṭānahas professional moral principles and exemplary conduct. (2) IEP shapes students’ character through curriculum orientation and learning methodologies that prioritize righteous habituation, such as justice, tolerance, discipline, and responsibility. Conclusion: The study concludes that strengthening IEP is crucial to ensuring coherence between philosophical ideals and educational practices. The implication is the need to reinforce IEP courses in Islamic teacher education institutions to optimize the alignment between educator character and value transmission.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study comprehensively examines Ki Hadjar Dewantara's educational philosophy as an Eastern educational figure who made fundamental contributions to the Indonesian education system. Background Problems: The Indonesian education system has experienced infiltration of Western philosophical determination and value degradation due to emphasis on knowledge transfer over value cultivation, necessitating strengthening of national educational philosophical foundations based on humanization. Novelty: This research integrates literature review from 2015-2025 to holistically map historical background and key philosophical concepts that have not been systematically analyzed, as well as identifying connections with modern educational philosophy streams, particularly essentialism. Research Methods: Systematic literature review method was employed by analyzing 9 selected articles from indexed journals through stages of identification, selection, data extraction, findings synthesis, and critical analysis. Finding/Results: Ki Hadjar Dewantara's educational philosophy is grounded in the concept of independent education emphasizing balance of physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social aspects based on Panca Dharma and Tripusat Pendidikan. The concepts of Trikon, Tri Rahayu, and Among System with the motto “ing ngarsa sung tulada, ing madya mangun karsa, tut wuri handayani” form a practical framework for student-centered education that shares similarities with essentialism yet remains dynamic. Conclusion: Ki Hadjar Dewantara's educational philosophy remains relevant as the foundation of national education in shaping the character of independent, intelligent, and morally noble generations, with implications for the necessity of revitalizing its philosophical values in educational policies to strengthen national educational identity based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study analyzes the financial performance of PDAMs in East Nusa Tenggara Province from 2019 to 2023 in relation to Return on Equity (ROE), Operating Ratio, and Cash Ratio. Research Methods: After passing traditional assumption tests, multiple linear regression was used to perform quantitative analysis using secondary data from 15 PDAMs (75 observations). Finding/Results: The findings show that while the Operating Ratio has no significant impact on financial performance, ROE and Cash Ratio have a favorable and significant impact. With the highest beta coefficient (0.656), ROE emerges as the most important variable. These results indicate that short-term variations in operational efficiency have a smaller impact on the financial success of PDAMs than the utilization of equity capital and effective liquidity. Conclusion: To improve the financial performance of PDAMs, this report suggests a strategic focus on increasing profitability and strengthening liquidity.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Music education in elementary schools is an essential component of holistic child development, contributing to students’ character formation, creativity, motor coordination, and emotional intelligence. However, the implementation of music learning is often suboptimal due to the limited availability of instructional tools and the lack of engaging teaching methods. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of using the melodica (locally known as pianika) as a concrete and accessible musical instrument to improve students' engagement and understanding in music education. Research Methods: Conducted at SD N 1 Mijen, this research uses a descriptive qualitative approach involving participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with a music teacher and six fourth-grade students, and documentation of the learning process. Finding/Results: The findings indicate that the use of the melodica increases student motivation, enhances comprehension of basic musical notation, and supports the development of performance confidence. Teachers reported that the pianika facilitates structured, step-by-step learning and provides an effective means of formative assessment through direct practice. Students responded positively, becoming more active and enthusiastic during lessons. Additionally, the instrument allowed students to express themselves musically in a collaborative and supportive environment. These results suggest that simple musical instruments like the pianika can serve not only as effective learning tools but also as media that foster emotional and social development. Conclusion: This study supports the integration of practical, engaging, and multimodal strategies in elementary music education to enhance learning outcomes and student participation.
